I love the mind and body section of the Epoch Times because it's not afraid to discuss some
controversial alternative medicines which, although they're painted as crazy now, have
been used for hundreds or thousands of years.
Traditional Chinese medicine, it talks about the nature of your own body, heat, wind, damp,
all those elements which are within ourselves.
When one of them gets out of balance, that's when we start having serious problems.
Ayurveda, which is traditional Indian medicine, is the same way.
Even homeopathy, which uses vibrations found in natural elements to treat illness, will
have descriptions of certain types of people who can be prone to certain types of illnesses.
Because focusing on our own health, strengthening ourselves, is very important.
This article points out the startling statistic that 60% of adult Americans have a chronic
disease.
We've exposed ourselves to chemicals which can cause illnesses like cancer, brain disease,
Alzheimer's, because we're afraid of getting something like pneumonia, which could kill
us.
This reminds me of a quote by Henry David Thoreau.
I read this in his Walden Pond when I was in high school.
He said, a stitch in time saves nine.
But he said, we take a thousand stitches now to prevent nine later.
His motto was simplify, simplify, so he was rather anti-establishment.
When I read this at the time, I was much younger than high school age, because I was homeschooled,
and I didn't understand what he meant.
I thought he was just being ridiculous.
And I wasn't too supportive of him because of some of his other sort of strange beliefs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I thought about what he wrote, and I finally realized what
he meant.
Taking precautions for things which might happen, but as a result, you're doing things
which are definitely going to have strong results, like getting vaccinated against diseases
that you probably won't encounter, killing all sorts of germs, including good ones, so
that you won't get that one bad one, destroying all bacteria, lest you get one harmful bacteria.
You're killing a thousand things to prevent the possibility of nine things.
I encourage you to read sources like the Mind and Body section of the Epoch Times, or other
people who are including interesting information about other opinions on health.
Don't just listen to everything that the FDA says.
I'm not saying you have to be anti-establishment, but don't just go along with what they tell
you because you feel like you should.
Listen to both sides of the story, and make decisions for yourself.
