From Garage to Show Winner: Complete DIY Fat Fender F100 Build
Meet Steve Fournier, our "DIY poster child"! This guy basically took on a complete Fat Fender build in his own garage and absolutely nailed it. His 1972 F100 is proof that with the right parts and some determination, you can build something incredible at home.
Steve's story is pretty smart - he found a rust-free restored truck from the West Coast, then tore it completely apart to rebuild it his way. He kept the good paint and body but upgraded everything that mattered: FFG x PBFAB front and rear drop members, Gen 3 Coyote engine, our Wilwood master cylinder kit, headers, oil filter relocation kit, etc, and even a complete Fat Fender interior kit. This was actually the very first full interior kit we ever boxed up and shipped out!, and it looks amazing. Definitely was an inspiration behind a bunch of other kits our customers have designed.
What makes this build so cool is that Steve taught himself TIG welding, built his own stainless exhaust system, and even added some personal touches like custom inner fender work and electronic exhaust cutouts. The stance is absolutely perfect with that front and rear drop, those three-piece Bose wheels, and the saddle and prison break leather combo in the interior looks incredible.
Steve and his wife Carmela drove up from South Carolina for the Grand National F100 show, and honestly their truck has been getting more attention than some of our shop builds. It's the perfect example of what's possible when you combine quality parts with passion and patience. Plus he's already planning his next project - thinking about a C10!
