If climate change is the most important issue humanity faces today, would people support another lockdown to reduce CO2 levels and save the environment? Ami Horowitz visits Venice Beach to ask people how long they’d be willing to stay home and not work and whether the benefits would outweigh the economic and social damage of another lockdown.
climate change is here and it changed
every year I'm mommy Horowitz and I love
the environment I want to protect it but
the left always seems to take things to
the extreme and they don't really have
any regard for things like consequences

we say climate change is one of the most
important if not the most important
issue facing Humanity today oh yeah most
certainly so would you say that climate
change is one of the most important
issues facing Humanity today yeah I
think so for sure yes it is yeah yes for
sure yeah should we do another three
month lockdown to bring CO2 levels back
down
that's kind of a hard question because
if you stay at home I mean not a lot of
people have a chance to go to work right
now that's the day outside yeah but I'm
sad yeah it'll work
so anything we can do another another
three months from like half of what a
month and a half
do you think that'd be a good idea
potentially maybe yeah and definitely
interesting idea and I think there are
tons of people that saw the positivity
out of being at home in like Italy right
we saw the canals like finally with you
know we were able to see them so but
that was because of the lockdown exactly
yep so that's why I'm saying like if we
had some sort of Regulation where hey
let's for this week
chill out real quick maybe a month at
least a month at least
two months
two months yes I agree should we
Implement another three month lockdown
for
the environmentally yeah would you Steph
I would say for sure we should do the
lock for Tech climate change so you
would do a lot yeah me personally yeah
so if a lockdown is what it takes to
kind of have a little significant change
Loki I think you might be kind of right
should we even play another three month
lockdown
well think about it dude yeah you're
right I mean
I guess so huh yeah I guess yeah or
should we do six months
yeah
yeah we should I mean if three months is
good or about six months six months I
mean I feel like yeah I'd do more of a
significant change it would I mean it
would most certainly do a significant
change so six months would be even six
months will be more a year will be even
yeah should we do a year lockdown yes to
change the mindset of paper yes because
change comes like like that yeah I think
either you're gonna help fix it no more
than a year so how about we do a year
you could be better yeah I would do it
as long as we need a year
foreign
I mean there's no really timetable on it
if I'm doing it to help I'm gonna do it
until it's fixed right yeah if there's a
timetable on it then that means you
really don't believe in it right listen
you could lie down until I die if it
means that my great great grandkids will
have a healthy planet have you did
Perpetual lockdown
I guess there's only one way to find out
try it you know what I mean like might
as well see what happens it's every year
you know who's coming yeah yeah and then
we locked down to two months so we know
and we prepare for it every year okay
yeah that's actually a good point it's
like a summer vacation like right like
yeah like just yeah yeah okay if you
want to live for the future
stay inside there would be a lot of
economic and social turmoil because of
it yeah but you think that that
economics yeah is is is climate more
important than economics though like
obviously that comes first the
consequences of let's say people's jobs
versus not as important as the
environment straight up I don't think so
what are the economic damage that it
would do
on the social damage is that not as
important you think as the final goal of
arresting climate change I feel like for
social socializing I mean we may feel
unintouch with our peers and people
around but I mean I feel like just to
save the environment or the peers around
us to keep us better healthier and and
up and Beyond above that I feel like
yeah I feel like it's worth it's worth
it yes jobs will be lost I feel like all
that sucks but you know it's gonna suck
more if we don't have a planet to live
on the fact that we have economic damage
might be better
because
I know changing the economic system it
could be does that make sense yeah yeah
is that crazy
it may be crazy to some people I mean it
just depends on how people want to look
at it does that make sense to you yeah
it does yeah I mean can you think of a
more important issue than the 1.5 degree
change in temperature over the next 30
Years that we're facing
is there a more important issue
yes I do agree that we do need to
definitely lock in on oh we don't need
to drive everywhere yo we can walk like
just because we uh it's so convenient or
a cartwheel
from what I know of I don't know all the
facts behind me but yeah
