🏍Pursuit w/ Yamaha YZFR1 Motorcycle - suspect jumps off & runs across the busy Interstate *TACKLED*
Trooper's Report:
On 5/24/2024 at approximately 7:38 a.m. I, Trooper Tyler Langley with the Arkansas State Police, heard on my Faulkner
County radio that they were in pursuit of an orange and black unlicensed sport bike getting onto Interstate 40 eastbound from
Skyline Dr. I was stationary at the 135mm of Interstate 40 eastbound. Faulkner County canceled their pursuit due to traffic
conditions. As I was sitting stationary, I observed the bike pass in front of me.
As I pulled onto the onramp of I40 EB, the rider (later identified as Cody Davis 12/9/1993) turned and looked at me. He then
began weaving through traffic travelling at a high rate of speed. I followed behind him and initiated my emergency lights and
siren. Davis continued to recklessly flee, weaving through traffic.
After taking the Morgan Maumelle exit, Davis ran through the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp and got back onto I40 EB. As
he continued to flee over 130mph, he nearly struck several vehicles even passing on the right shoulder.
Trooper Korbyn Freeman was waiting ahead at the 146mm. As we neared the 146mm, traffic began to slow due to Trp.
Freeman being at the onramp. Davis saw Trp. Freeman and cut behind him, going the wrong direction on the I40 EB onramp
from White Oak. I followed Davis and he drove off the left side of the roadway. I drove next to him in attempt to prevent him
from getting back on the ramp going the wrong direction. The grass was wet and muddy due to the previous weather that
moved through the area. Davis was unable to maintain his balance as he drove alongside the embankment and my vehicle.
Davis then laid the bike down and took off running on foot.
Davis ran across the onramp and across I40 EB, causing vehicles to skid to a stop to avoid hitting him. I made sure traffic had
stopped before running across I40. I then tackled Davis to the ground as he was running and placed him into custody in the
median.
Davis was Mirandized and agreed to answer my questions. He stated he ran because he had a meth pipe in his pocket. A glass
pipe with burned residue was located in his front right pocket. It should be noted that the bowl of the pipe broke inside Davis’
pocket.
After running the Vehicle Identification Number on ATLAS, it was discovered the current registration on the bike had expired on
September 30, 2023. It was also discovered after running Davis, he did not possess a valid motorcycle endorsement.
365 Towing towed the motorcycle. Davis was transported to Unit 2 and charged with:
27-14-1005: FAIL TO AFFIX/DISPLAY
LICENSE PLATE, 27-14-314(a)(2)(A): DRIVER OF MOTOR VEHICLE FAILURE TO REGISTER 1ST OFFENSE, 5-54-125(d)
(3) 2023: FLEEING - FELONY - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - SUBSTANTIAL DANGER OF DEATH, 5-54-125(c): FLEEING- ON FOOT, 27-50-308(b)(1)(B) 1ST: RECKLESS DRIVING - 1ST, 5-71-207: DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 5-64-443(a)(2):

Faulkner County report number is 24001366. The meth pipe was placed into evidence at Arkansas State Police Headquarters.
