After entering the "Qianqing Gate" in the inner court of the Forbidden City, it symbolizes the North Star in the sky. The east and west wing rooms in "Qianqing Gate" played an important role a hundred years ago. The first room in the west wing of "Qianqing Gate" is called the guard duty room, and then there is the "Jingshi room". In fact, this is called the "Palace Supervisor's Office". Its main business is to manage the emperor's personal affairs, big and small, and then the famous "South Study Room". From Kangxi to the early years of Yongzheng, this place briefly became a real decision-making body.
To the north from the "South Study Room" is the "Inner Memorial Office", which is where ministers send and receive memorials. The building extending past is the "Batch Office", which is dedicated to sending and receiving cabinet memorials and translating Manchu texts. As you can see, there is a place with stairs beyond it, called "Maoqin Hall", which is where the emperor's books and stationery are collected.
The east wing of the "Qianqing Gate" in the inner court was used as the "elder brother's tea room" a hundred years ago, and the second was the "study room" and "the place where Confucius is worshipped". "Shangshufang" was the classroom for the princes of the Qing Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty system, princes usually started attending classes around 5 a.m. (so they got up at 3 a.m.) and did not finish school until around 6 p.m., with only a 15-minute break every two hours. The learning content includes Chinese, Manchu, Mongolian, Hui, Tibetan, as well as calligraphy, poetry, martial arts, etc. The "Duan Ning Hall" on the east side is the emperor's cloakroom.
