J'ai chiné beaucoup de choses ces derniers mois, et il était temps de tout vous montrer (ou presque) ! Au programme : vaisselle, décorations... et lettres d'amour.
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well and above all that you do not see too many reflections in my glasses.
For this last October video, I thought we were going to put aside the recipes
based on zucchini because I'm going to end up overdosing
and that we were going to sit down a bit and do a little Emmaüs haul.
Everything I'm going to show you today is not things that I bought in one go.
In fact, since it's been a long time since I've done a haul,
I thought I'd show you pretty much everything I've bought and haven't shown you since August 2021.
So pretty much what I bought in July, August, September, October.
There is probably not everything I bought, but I tried to get the most interesting pieces.
And I also kept in a bag everything I bought the last time I went to Emmaüs
to show you everything before washing and tidying everything up.
For this cozy video, I advise you to pause and go make yourself a little tea if you haven't already.
I let a lot of light in, so I hope it will wake me up,
because right now I'm having a hard time, as you can see with my eyebrows.
I preface this video by reminding you that I am a photographer and culinary stylist,
so I need to have a lot of dishes.
With time, my style evolves, so I need new dishes regularly.
And also know that it turns a lot, I bring them back to Emmaüs regularly.
Same for clothes, I sell them, I give them back, I change, I sort.
So it's not accumulation that I do, it's things that I'm really going to use.
And if I don't use them, I'll just give them back to someone else.
Without further ado, I'm going to start by showing you all the dishes I bought in recent months.
I want to start with this beautiful iridescent pink plate, which is completely out of my style.
I didn't find it in Emmaüs, but in an empty attic in, I think it was Larocque,
or if it's not Larocque, a village around, in this region this summer.
I'm trying to get a lot out of my comfort zone right now with my photos.
I haven't used it yet, but I hope I'll end up doing it.
We also have this beautiful saucer.
I love it, I've already used it in lots of videos and in lots of photos.
Two white plates like this one, which are quite simple.
I hope you can see quite well because I'm just in front of a window,
but in case you can't see, I'll do some more shots to show you exactly what it looks like.
A small plate with patterns of flowers and leaves that my mother found in Emmaüs and gave me.
I'm not sure I'll use this plate yet.
I find it interesting, but it may be a little too old-fashioned.
For all that is dishes, I really like what was done before the 80s.
Beyond that, it's starting to be really old-fashioned and really not timeless at all.
But I'll see if this plate works in photos, and if it doesn't, it will go back to Emmaüs.
In the same collection as the small green plate, there was also a slightly rectangular plate.
I think it's really something that I miss, things that are oval or rectangular,
to present dishes that can't really be in round dishes.
I'll see if this one works.
Same as the round plate, I don't know if it will really fit my photographic universe, let's say.
But I will try.
Between the round plate and the rather rectangular plate, I really prefer the rectangular plate.
This beautiful plate, and this is really a type of plate that I think all culinary stylists have at least one or two, or even more.
This dish has a specific name, but I don't remember exactly what it is.
All I know is that it's really expensive.
Even in Emmaüs, I rarely find it at the bazaar level.
It's more at the museum level.
I don't know if all Emmaüs are made the same or not.
But in any case, there is a small place where there is the dish that is sold more often in sets or not,
because this plate was all alone.
But as I found it one day when I really had absolutely nothing to find, neither at the bazaar nor at the clothes,
I said to myself, I'll take it anyway.
It cost me, I think, 2 euros.
So it's not the sea to drink.
And I have already used it for lots of photos.
So I know that this one will stay with me for a very long time.
Then we have this little silver plate.
I don't know if it's steel or something.
In any case, it is quite heavy.
And I like to use it in photos to add a little something.
For example, put a dirty spoon or something next to a main place.
Just to dress up the photo a little.
I also found this little mysterious golden plate.
I don't know what it's for.
I don't know if it's more for something decorative.
If anyone recognizes what it is, don't hesitate to tell me in the comments.
There will be other things that I don't really know the use of.
So if anyone recognizes them, tell me.
This is especially the case of these two small spoons.
So I suspect that these are probably not spoons.
But that they have another use.
They have like a kind of little hook.
So is it to hang on the wall in the kitchen?
Like a little pot of copper.
I don't know at all if you recognize this thing and what is its use.
Same, teach me something.
Tell me in the comments.
Personally, in any case, I would use it as small spoons.
Quite normal.
Speaking of small spoons, I found this beautiful spoon.
I find it really very pretty.
I have already used it several times in photos.
I don't really think it's vintage.
But I find the shape really super interesting and super beautiful.
And in addition, it was hidden in Emmaüs in a paella pan.
Which had been filled with water with the rain.
And which was therefore covered with rust.
And I saw it through.
And I said to myself, am I fishing it or not?
And finally, I don't regret fishing it.
And wipe it well before putting it in my bag and buying it.
I also took this fork.
Which is a very simple fork.
And the same, this is really the type of lid that we find very often.
On photos of culinary stylists.
I don't know where it comes from.
I don't know if this shape of lid has a particular story.
If this is the case and you know it, tell me.
And besides, speaking of covers, there is really something ultra mysterious.
So I don't know if it only happens to me.
Or if it's really in general.
If it's a matter of security or I don't know.
But every time I go to Brocante, to Vidrenier, to Emmaüs.
Everywhere you sell second-hand dishes.
There are very, very, very, very regularly.
Forks, spoons, small spoons.
But never vintage knives.
I never found the knives that went with this type of fork.
I never found the knives that went with the sets of spoons and forks that I have.
Really, it's a mystery to me.
Even on the museum side of Emmaüs, there are no knives with spoons and forks.
I don't understand where the knives are.
I never see any.
We continue with small bowls.
This one is very simple, very white.
Same, I use it to add elements to photos.
Another small bowl that looks like it's made of clay or I don't know what.
It's just brown, very simple.
I hesitated to repaint it.
For now, I haven't used it yet.
So I'm going to think about it.
You may have already noticed it if you know American cuisine.
But very, very, very often I use cups.
It's just American measurements.
Because like Americans don't like to do like the rest of the world.
They prefer to measure things in volume rather than in weight.
Which is quite complicated in the kitchen.
Especially in pastry when you really need precise measurements.
In any case, it is the first time in my life that at Emmaüs I find this type of cup.
This one is a quarter cup.
I am quite disappointed not to have found the others.
I looked for them all over the bazaar.
Because sometimes I find an element somewhere.
And I find the lid or the cutout or the rest that is on the other side of the shelves.
But there I only found this one.
I thought I was going to take it anyway.
So it's not real copper, clearly.
But in photos or if I want to make a pretty video.
I think it will be useful to me.
Speaking of things that I find the other half at the other end of Emmaüs.
There is this beautiful teapot.
Which is made of stainless steel.
When I found it, I only found the body of the teapot in quotes.
And I found this lid much further away.
Besides, when I found it, I said to Adrien.
Is this really the lid of the teapot?
And obviously he answered me.
But no Coraline, this is probably not the lid of the teapot.
To which I myself replied.
Man of little faith.
It is a stainless steel teapot.
Which in my opinion has been much loved.
Because when I bought it, it was really full of a mixture of teak and rust.
I'm really super happy because I managed to wash the inside completely.
Sometimes it's really very difficult for steel things.
To succeed in removing all the dirt and rust.
So really I'm super happy.
I admit that for the moment it has mostly served me as a decoration.
In real life I would like to use it.
But it's part of these second-hand things that I buy.
And that I really block the idea of using them in a food way.
Because even if I washed it and rubbed it and soaked it and everything you want.
I don't know, I'm still afraid that there is dirt or bacteria left.
Even if I think it's a bit paranoid on my part.
There are really some things that I have trouble using.
And that I really use specifically for decoration or only for photos.
This is the case with my vintage covers.
I don't know why but in fact it really disgusts me to think that there are people.
Probably a lot of people, a long time ago, who put these covers on their mouths.
I don't know why, but I really block.
As much as the plates, the beautiful hollow plate that I showed you.
All that doesn't bother me.
To put food on contact.
Or to use them even in my kitchen every day.
But then the covers, the pots.
Especially glass pots that are difficult to wash.
Or this teapot.
I can't convince myself to use them for myself.
So in short, this one will remain for the moment as a decoration in my kitchen.
And finally, there is this glass mug.
I have been looking for a glass mug of this type for a very, very, very long time.
So I was really happy to find it.
The only problem with the cups when I buy them at Emmaüs.
Is that I always have a doubt about whether they can go to the microwave.
That's really my concern.
So I mainly use it in photos.
I also found this glass that is almost aggressive.
So it is pointy.
It is clearly an alcohol glass for strong men to drink.
Without ice cream.
Without soda.
Without anything.
I hope that in fact all the cuts of the glass on top will make nice reflections.
And will capture the light well in photos.
I haven't used it yet.
But it won't be long.
We now move on to everything that is glass pots.
Bottles.
Things that I have trouble placing in a single and same category.
So anyway, as I keep talking, you already know.
I will explain to you what I do with what.
Every time I show it to you.
So I bought mini glass pots from the WEC brand.
Which had in addition their rubber seals.
So that's pretty handy.
I use these pots to store the fresh herbs that I grew this summer.
So especially the sage, the mint, the oregano.
Since it is soon the end of the season.
I am cutting everything and drying everything.
To be able to use it until it grows back.
Or that we replant it.
What is good with WEC pots is that even if it is second hand.
It's really easy to wash.
And if I have a doubt, I just have to sterilize it in boiling water.
I was also really extremely happy to find this beautiful old bottle.
Which dates, if I'm not mistaken, from the 60s.
It was a medicine bottle.
To improve digestion.
This is really the kind of bottle that we find in the curiosity cabinets.
Or at the collectors.
I found it for nothing at Emmaüs.
So I was super happy to find it.
It is in great condition.
Except for traces of limestone that do not want to go inside.
So I decided to put a plant in it.
Like that.
Like there is water in it.
We don't see the traces of limestone.
And at least it looks super pretty.
Same with this little glass carafe.
You have already seen it in my video on my plants.
But in fact, I have a lot, a lot of shoots that live in the water.
The thing is that a lot of these shoots are in pots.
In which they have been for a long time.
And which are not necessarily very aesthetic.
So I decided that the next time I go to Emmaüs.
I was really going to look for a lot of pots.
To replace them all.
And put them in much prettier glass pots.
Because right now I really want to decorate my house a little more.
To bring a little, I don't know what.
As the English speakers would say.
So I started with these two pieces.
I think it looks super pretty.
So I can't wait to go back to Emmaüs.
And change all the old pots a little bit.
Very simple and full of limestone.
In which my plants bathe.
I also took this little glass pot.
With a lichen cap.
Because if you have already watched my previous Emmaüs haul.
You know that I can't resist.
A little cup with a lichen lid.
And to finish on the pots.
That I can't classify in a single category.
There is this mustard pot.
So I don't think it's a vintage pot.
I think it's fake vintage.
Even if the lichen cap seems to have lived well.
And that too is one of those things.
That I will never use in food.
Because I'm too afraid of germs.
Especially with lichen caps.
I really advise you to be careful.
If you use lichen caps.
That you bought second-hand.
Or that are not very clean.
Because the germs get in there.
And to remove them.
It's complicated.
But it's still a great decoration.
Both in our living room.
On my photos.
And what I like to do with this type of pot.
Because I have others that are of another color.
It is to use them as a vase.
By putting flowers in it.
Whether they are dry or fresh.
Speaking of decoration.
I will show you some little things.
That I bought to decorate my home.
It's really a thing with which I have trouble.
The interior decoration.
Because I'm a little afraid to make decisions.
That I regret later.
I'm a little afraid to get into something.
I'm afraid to choose a style.
And then not to like it.
Yet I really want to decorate our interior.
Because I find it a little empty.
And a little sad.
And not cozy enough.
And personalized.
A few little things to decorate this summer.
I'm not going to show it to you now.
But I'll show it to you later.
Because it's hanging on the wall right behind me.
It's a painting with three butterflies painted.
A bit of a collector's way.
It's faux vintage too.
It seems to me that there was the label behind.
And it comes from a store like Maison du Monde.
I found it this summer.
At the flea market of Clermont-les-Ros.
Which is by far.
The best flea market we did this summer.
It was really super big.
And at the same time people who came
just to empty their attic.
At the same time people who were really more in the spirit
flea market collection.
So there was a little bit for all tastes.
And I found few things.
But things that I really like.
Like this painting.
Which cost us barely 2 euros it seems to me.
While there was the label behind.
And 9 it was worth 20 euros.
We also found two paintings at Emmaüs.
So there's this one.
And there's another one that I didn't pick up.
It's on one of my kitchen shelves.
And I have to take my walker out.
Because I'm too small to go there.
So it's just another painting.
With other vegetables.
I find the drawings super pretty.
But I don't like the frame at all.
So I hope to be able to find frames
prettier.
To be able to hang them somewhere.
I'm starting to get really dark.
I think not.
At Emmaüs we also found
a mirror.
Behind the monstera in the living room.
To try to give a little more
luminosity and depth
to this piece which is extremely dark.
And we took it because
obviously a house never has enough
mirrors.
The last object really
purely decorative that I bought.
It's this little alarm clock.
I found it at the bazaar
at Emmaüs and frankly
I found it so
adorable, so cute.
It's real vintage.
It's an old Bayard alarm clock made in France.
I think it could work.
It doesn't bother me
that it doesn't work because anyway
I hate the tic-tac
of clocks. By the way, when I
bought it, I was very, very afraid
that it would ring in the middle of the night
or very early in the morning. But fortunately
not. Anyway, the clocks don't work.
So normally it's not possible.
For now, I don't know yet
where I'm going to put it. I think I'm going to
tidy up my nightstand soon
and make a little decoration
and probably put it on.
In the meantime, it is waiting wisely in the living room.
I only have a few more
objects to show you and I will
try to do it quickly because my SD card
is full.
I only have much more to show you
than this iron box
that I found the last time we went
to Emmaüs.
It's faux vintage. It's a box
very, very light but very pretty
and I thought it would be perfect
to store things that I have in the
bazaar in the house. So I put
a sealer bucket
that I found in the attic
of my village. I already have
one with the first letter
of my first name, so C.
And I use them every time I send
letters because I think it's just absolutely
beautiful. I also put
a lot of papers that I use
in photos, so old
partitions or
old magazine sheets,
but also old
handwritten postcards that I
collect. If you don't know
or if you don't follow me on Instagram
and by the way, I highly
advise you to do it,
I collect old letters,
old postcards
that have been written and
sent. I particularly look for
postcards that have been sent during
the First or Second World War.
It's very often love letters
sent by soldiers
to their wives. Sometimes also
letters sent to soldiers by their
wives. I also found this
summer at the brokerage of Clermont-les-Ros.
I actually found a whole
series of letters sent by
the same soldier. I think that if you're
interested, I could make a complete video
on all the letters and postcards
that I bought, which were
generally sent before
the 60s. I think that
one of the oldest letters I have,
was sent in 1922
and it's really my favorite letter.
It's the one that
started it all, in fact, that launched me
in this collection of old
handwritten postcards
tens and tens of years ago
by people I don't know. It's really
fragments of life, pieces
of history, ultra-touching.
It's both historical and personal.
It really moves me every
time I find one. So if you want,
I could make a complete video on it.
In the meantime,
I put all my letters
in my little iron box.
And that's it for this whole Emmaüs
very complete and long.
I think there are a few little things
that I didn't show you, but
it doesn't matter. I showed you a lot of
things. I hope you liked it
and that it entertained you
or gave you some ideas
of what to look for the next time
you go to a brokerage or Emmaüs.
Don't hesitate to tell me in the comments
what is your last beautiful
second-hand find. I realize
that I didn't show you the clothes
I bought, but
if you want to see more things like that,
don't hesitate to follow me on
Instagram. I know I say it
all the time, but it's really the network on which
I'm the most active and on which
I share the most things.
So I put my name right there
and then if you want the direct link,
it will be below the video.
I can't wait to read your comments,
to see if you tell me
what are the little things I bought
without knowing exactly what it was
and also to read your last
beautiful second-hand finds.
See you next week
normally for a new video.
So until next week,
I send you kisses
and I wish you a happy Halloween!
