Good afternoon from Lachen, Switzerland. We've been here for the past
six days and we stayed for free. If you want to find out how,
check out our last video, but in this video we are eventually going to make
our way to Plovdiv, Bulgaria. This is our final destination in Europe
where we have spent the last year. Really crazy to think that we've been
here that long, but I am really looking forward to
what's next. Right now we're at the train station
where we're going to take a train from Lachen to
Basel. Before we get to Bulgaria though, we
actually have one night back in Zagreb, Croatia.
We're really looking forward to going back because we're already familiar with
the city and there's one place we've been dying to get back to.
This train is to Zurich and then we have another train to Basel.
Each ticket was $37. Super safe. This is a massive train station. We
just got spit out on the far opposite side. We have just enough
time to get some food before hopping our next train to Basel.
I think we'll probably get Burger King. That's like the one thing I saw that's
really close. They do have a lot of other things though.
33 francs, please. Almost 20 francs for a single meal. That's
$20. There are cheaper places to eat in
Zurich. You can go to the Migros grocery store and just get their pre-made meals.
They're actually pretty good and both Amber and I ate for like 11
francs when we were in Zurich last week. So it is possible. Unfortunately we did
not have time to get all the way to that store and back before this next
train leaves. We gotta go. Nobody ever checked our
tickets. We saw them. They just didn't ask us so
it's kind of interesting. We're not entirely sure how to get from the
train station here in Basel to the airport. I'm sure it's a simple thing
like there's got to be another bus or a tram or something but we don't really
have that figured out quite yet. We followed the people with the
suitcases and it led us straight to the airport bus right out front.
Where can we buy the tickets for this?
Okay, thank you. Right out front there is a very obvious bus
that says Euro airport bus. You can't buy tickets on board though so we got
directed to just walk just a little bit of ways.
You can go to a stand, buy your tickets and come back.
This whole ordeal took like maybe three minutes.
Tickets were six francs to ten cents. 15 minutes later and I think we've
technically crossed back into France. Just over the border. Well this guy was
very pleasant and he goes you guys aren't sitting
together and I was like eh it's okay we see enough of each other
and he goes no I can put you guys together. Okay,
thank you very much. I never thought I would say this but
this is our last Ryanair flight and I'm kind of sad. Yeah, me too.
Are we going up?
These flights were $82 total. We actually flew out of Basel
because that was the cheapest way to get out of Switzerland rather than trying to
find a flight out of Zurich and that's the only reason we're going
to Croatia but just for the one night because the whole goal was to get to
Bulgaria.
We just got delayed an hour.
It's about time. You can't hear us but we stood in line
for like in an hour. Nathan's the sweetest. He always gives
me a hug.
Really random fact but Nathan and I happen to run into
an Olympic gold medalist right in front of us in line on this flight.
We're pretty pumped about that. We're not gonna tell you who it was but
dang. It's really fun when airports start to look familiar.
Like we've only been here once and it was for a moment but
I remember it. We planned on taking an Uber
but it's 17 euro so we're not gonna do that. We're gonna find a bus.
We are getting hungry. We'll either get food that is as close to our hostel
as possible or we are going to go to a nice
restaurant. It's the same one we went to last time.
Can't pronounce it but it might look familiar to some of you.
What? We don't have a card? Yeah and those are out of order.
In case you guys think we know what we're doing
we just tried to buy a bus ticket from the parking meter so
you know that happened. So I don't know. I think we're just gonna ask the bus
driver and hope for the best. Yeah because I don't know how else
to do it.
Okay good? Thank you.
We just got off the bus. How much was the bus ticket? It was six kuna per person.
I didn't know if it was more. I think we just bought the full ticket. We bought it on the bus.
Yeah yeah yeah. Oh thank you. The bus is expensive.
Okay good to know. Thank you. So we were just informed it's
supposed to be four kuna and we paid more
because we bought it on the bus. Which is common in a lot of places so go to the
newsstands. Yes but anyways it's 9 p.m we're not
gonna get dinner tonight. I mean we're going to eat but we're not
gonna go out for dinner like we'd hoped. Maybe we'll go tomorrow morning before
our flight. It's still gonna be good. I'm so excited
to be back here. We're so far outside of town. Nathan
booked this one so see what happens.
Hi booking for Nathan Sosa. Okay second floor.
Here's our place for the night. The beds are very very comfortable so that is
the best I hoped for. We have a table. Two separate beds. We're slightly outside
of town but really not that far. We'll see you guys tomorrow morning either
on our way to the airport or to a fancy restaurant for lunch. Who
knows? Goodnight.
Good morning. Last night all you missed was some wings
and a thunderstorm. Water is totally gonna come in here.
But now we're on the hunt for some coffee. We need it.
The restaurant we want to go to doesn't open until 11 so we've got some time to
kill. Like an hour. I knew we were in Croatia
we're like it can't be that expensive but then we sat down and a cappuccino was
$2.50 and I said it's kind of expensive. Amber gave me a
look and we're sitting down now. All right.
Finally getting some lunch. You guys might be sick of hearing about it but
it's one of the best meals we've ever had.
It was. Once again I'm not going to pronounce this place but it's right next
to the world's shortest funicular.
These people are so friendly. They didn't care that we had bags that we look like
scrubs because it's a little fancier. We told them that we'd been here once
before and they really appreciated that we're returning.
This place is awesome. We cannot recommend it enough. If you're ever in
Zagreb. As I remember they brew their own beer.
They're very good at talking you into getting the half liter so that's what we
got. What a great day. Last time we were here
we ate so much we could hardly walk. That was so much food.
All I know is this has beef and truffles in it
and it's a homemade noodle. A very unique like style noodle. I love it.
I'm gonna call this Croatian like pot roast. It's slow cooked
beef sauce and gnocchi. I would fly here just for this.
Yes. I understand this is supposed to just be another travel video but this is
part of our travel between Switzerland and getting all the way
to Plovdiv Bulgaria. The cannon is about to fire and that was not happening seven
months ago when we were here. So we are going to eat this meal, watch
the cannon fire finally and then head to the airport.
Oh my gosh I jumped. Oh I might have. I don't think I missed it.
I jumped so bad. That was great. I totally might have just missed that. I
jumped so bad. That's why I said why. Yeah. Dang it.
This video is so much more than just flying
from one place to another. This is what we love about travel days.
There's no expectation to these videos so there's no pressure
but we have the best time. And then we end up in a new place that we've never
been before. Yeah. So we always end on a good note.
Pretty sure we just ran into our first vloggers Orhan and Amelia. They're from
Toronto and they just stopped us and said hello
because they saw the camera. Hello you guys. It was really nice
meeting you. Please keep in touch. But now we are officially on our way to
the airport. Let's just sit in the back. 12.55 is the
next bus. What time is it? 14. And just like that
we're back. Feels just like yesterday. Made it through
security, made it through customs and for the first time we got
snagged for having two bigger bags. We had to pay 20 euros each.
Not a big deal. The only other time we've ever actually paid for our bags
is the time where we almost missed our flight heading into Sardinia.
But we've only had to pay twice. Doing pretty good.
This flight was $15 a piece and then $20 for our bags so it's still only a $25
flight. Did you do that math right?
25. Let's try that again. This flight was $15
originally plus 20 for our bags so 35 euro each. Still not bad.
It's better. Thank you. I'll see you later.
Bye. I'm stuck in the back. He's in the way front.
See you in Bulgaria. Hello. Normally we would never say exchange
money at the airport but the place that we're booking tonight
we have to pay in cash so I don't know if we really have another option but
we're going right there so this is kind of what we need to do.
I went to the money exchange at the airport which also doesn't give you the
best exchange. Airport things are just more expensive.
So I gave them a 50 euro and they gave me 90 back
and doing the math I should have gotten 93. I didn't get a receipt either
so I counted went back to the table and said I should have gotten 93. She said
one moment gave me my three and gave me my receipt
so I'm not gonna cry scam but always ask for a receipt. Do your own
math. The numbers are posted. Just give me my experience. The currency
in Bulgaria is the lev and our metro tickets were 1.6 lev.
One lev 60. This metro station is literally right outside of the airport
to your left. It's perfect. I love when that happens.
There's one place to buy your ticket and this will take us almost right to where
we're staying tonight. Center town. Awesome. There's also only
one train so there's no confusion. Oh no confusion.
This is almost as simple as it gets. Spain still isn't our final destination
but I'm so excited to be in Bulgaria.
Okay we love our first looks into a city. This is pretty good. Oh my goodness there
are ruins right inside the metro.
Pretty cool. Yeah. Wow. You've got a gorgeous sunset this way.
Ruins right here. There's a massive street party with stages and lights
going on right down here. I think we'll come back to check that out.
And then there's this beautiful church off in the distance. We were told that we
would like this city and they were right. There's a reason we didn't choose to
stay here though. Kind of regretting that a little bit.
Well I'm glad they've got signs posted. Do you know what floor?
Places Nathan. Put this in.
I like that. It's how you say thank you.
I'll never remember it but I'm gonna try my hardest.
So this is pretty much my place. This is the common area here.
There is a big balcony outside. Okay.
Thank you very much. Anytime if you need a towel there is also towels here.
Okay. Oh okay. Awesome. Really appreciate it.
We have three beds. Not so bad right? Nope. Not bad. I mean it's a little warm
but that's I'm just like really hot right now.
I chose this place. It was 19 euros for the night.
We have a private. The host owner. Super cool guy.
And then we're gonna go check out the street party later. Yeah so we're gonna
head out. We're gonna explore.
Good morning yet again. Last night as soon as we got to the room
we basically just changed really quick and then went out and tried to see what
that concert was all about. It was a coca-cola party so we only
stood there for a minute. Got our free coke and left but it was cool.
We may or may not have seen a really cool pop star from Bulgaria.
I don't know. We haven't had coffee or breakfast yet so bear with us.
We're gonna go grab the metro to get to the bus station and head to Plovdiv.
Finally we made it to the correct place and we have well we've got quite a bit
of time actually so we need to find some food. We were
wondering if we should eat at the metro station before we got here but I figured
that the train and bus station would be bigger and have more and
I don't know if it does. There's lots of little shops here.
A lot of all of those are different bus companies.
What's inside of it? Cheese. Two banitsa.
Cheese. We got banitsa which is basically burek. It's the same
stuff we've gotten in Istanbul, Turkey, all over Turkey and all over the
Balkans. They just call it something a little different here.
It's pastry filled with cheese. Together these were
four lev 25 or something like that and then we each got a cappuccino and these
Little cheese. There you go. One thing I did learn about the cheese
I should have known this already but it's brined cheese so it sits in water
and it preserves it and gives it its salty flavor.
Really good. I'm happy with it. Running into our first learning curve.
It's the Cyrillic alphabet here so we're looking at the buses trying to find
Plovdiv and it's not the right alphabet so
we're gonna have to look it up see what it looks like
and try to find it. I don't think our bus is here yet though.
On the bright side all of these buses look pretty nice. We have a three-hour
ride. It'll be comfortable. We have the tickets
today at 10.50. Where? For Plovdiv. Well this is another bus
station. That big building across the road.
Okay. Platform number six. Six. Thank you very much. We saw a bus that
said Plovdiv so we asked. It wasn't the right bus
company and the man pointed us towards our bus
company office and she said no no it's not this
station. It's the other one. It's just across the parking lot.
I'm really glad we asked because there are two stations side by side.
I never would have even noticed that. No no. But we're at the wrong one obviously.
Maybe this one's the international and we're just still domestic. That could be.
That's my only guess.
Print, print, print. I definitely bought these tickets because it said the
electronic version was allowed. I mean that's why they give you
the QR code. But no he says we have to print them.
Sosa, Amber and Nathan.
There's a bit of a disagreement on printing our tickets but
we got on the bus without a minute to spare mind you.
Our tickets did say important information you must print your tickets
however when we went in to get our tickets printed the lady at the desk was
like oh come with me and it seems like her and
the driver had a little bit of an argument.
And we're leaving now so. Yeah we made it. We also weren't the only person with
this problem. No. These tickets were only eight euros per
person. We bought them from getbybus.com which is where we normally get them from.
I think the ride's about three hours long. Okay so don't listen to me this took
exactly two hours. That's one thing I've learned about Amber
while traveling is if she's moving you better keep up she's gonna leave you
behind. We almost got stuck on the bus an extra
stop. I couldn't get the door to open. I'm sure that was something we were doing
wrong but button didn't work. This is the oldest
occupied city in all of Europe. How exciting.
Eight thousand years. Welcome to Plovdiv. We're gonna end this video at the
Airbnb. We're almost there.
A lot of times we've gone down some deep dark alleyways to find our door. I tell
you. Just wait for it. Look at that.
So cool. Don't worry there's an elevator. You know how nerve-wracking it is to
almost open somebody else's door. Yay. Oh got a nice little kitchen.
It's a nice place. It's really cute. Wow. I'm pumped. There's a balcony.
Look at this. Not the smallest balcony we've ever had.
It's pretty small though. That's how big this little balcony is.
This place is $26 per night. I think we're only staying four nights.
We've got a lot planned coming up so we're just going and going.
It is true. The next three to four weeks is going to be
go go go. We do not have the luxury of a week
in a country anymore. All right we're gonna enjoy our vanilla passion mango
passion fruit vanilla juice. Please stick around and watch our video
coming up on Plopdiv. Please like this video if you're still here.

He gave me the window seat. He always does. I don't want to film.
I'm gonna sit here and play my game. I film the takeoff. I film the landing. Wake
up from a nap and go back to sleep. That's pretty much what
happens. No, mostly it's...
