Good morning. We are in Istanbul, Turkey. Today we're leaving one Airbnb and heading to another
across town, and it might involve a ferry. So stay tuned and we'll see how we get from
one place to another. We are going from Asia to Europe today. We're switching continents.
I had no idea. That's pretty cool. All right, lead the way. Nikki navigates.
Just as a pretext, we're going to mispronounce everything in this video,
so be nice. We're starting today in the Uskudur neighborhood, and we're going to the Fatih.
Fatih. I don't know. Don't ever listen to me. Istanbul, much like a lot of European cities,
was built on seven hills, and I think we were staying on top of one of them.
And since we have to go to a ferry, we have to go down that hill. So we have been walking
straight down this entire way. This is a nice part of town. This is my kind of place.
I convinced Nathan we should take a look around. We could get breakfast here if we really wanted.
I want to buy all the rugs, and I don't even have a home to put it in.
Very friendly. We'll definitely be stocking up on spices while we're here.
We're going to get some durum and ayran. I'll explain the ayran when we get it, but durum
is going to be more of a wrap, not like a gyro. So it's going to be like a thin tortilla,
a thin piece of naan with meat, french fries, and sauce on the inside.
And 18 lira is about $1.10, $1.15, something like that. I'm so excited.
All right. This is breakfast. It was 36 lira. So pretty. No market is a proper market unless
you've got fish all around. I wish you could smell it.
Okay, we have to buy an Istanbul card so we can get on the ferry, and then we have to take the
airport. We go to the machine so we can buy our card.
We finally figured out that two people can buy just one card, and we don't each have to get one.
The card that we're talking about, I'm going to have Nathan explain it. I have no idea what's
going on. Okay, everything we've learned so far, when you buy the card, the machine says that it
doesn't give change, but whatever remaining money that you put in there will just go on the card.
The card was 25 lira. We put in a 50 lira, so now we have a card and 25 lira on the card.
Previous research has showed that the ferry is like five lira, and that's about it as far as
I can tell. I don't know if it's going to tell us how much it is when we tap, but we'll see.
Long story short, this kind gentleman behind us is the one who helped us and
kind of explained everything.
All that hard work, and now we're going to wait for the ferry. This ferry ride is going to take
us all the way across town, and it was five and a half lira, which is 37 cents. What? Yep.
That's awesome. It's pretty good. Can we just say that's the cheapest ferry ride in existence?
It's definitely the cheapest public transport that we've taken anywhere.
Wow. This is a great place. I want to point out something else that we've learned while we're
here. You are going to need multiple days. This city is bigger than any city I've ever been to.
There's so much here. There's different neighborhoods, different parts, different
continents. It's huge. It's a lot to take in. It's a lot to grasp, but it's an adventure. It's
so much fun every single day. Okay, back to breakfast. Something that is very unique to
Istanbul that we haven't seen anywhere else is ayran. It's a yogurt drink. It's very, very thin,
and it's sour. I like it. Amber hates it, but we have two of them, so she might choke one down.
You just bought me a four cent juice though. I did. Four lira. Four lira juice. Okay.
I like it. It's not like a chugger. It doesn't taste like milk. It definitely tastes like yogurt.
It's so bad. And it's salty too. Gross. All the different names of sandwiches are different ways
that they're wrapped. This is durum, I think, is how they say it. They come with different sauces
or different homemade sauces, and this is one of the better ones that I've had. Some of them
come with no sauces. How could you do that? He says it's one of the better ones. It's by
far the best one we've had. That was delicious. Now we're just waiting on the ferry. Who would
have thought switching Airbnbs could be so exciting? I'm having such a good time,
and it even started raining. The safety regulations here, or lack thereof, are kind
of funny. They opened the gate. Everybody piled on. There's no waiting for anything. There's no
instructions. And the second the last person stepped on, it started backing up and moving.
I'm still getting used to how relaxed other places are compared to America.
I've been completely separated from Nathan this entire boat ride. I cannot find him.
I told him I'm going to step outside and film really quick. I went back in. He was not where
I last saw him. I can't find him. The boat just stopped. I'm fairly certain this isn't our stop,
but who knows? Then what? Then I went to a window seat. It was literally right across from you,
and then when I saw you come back in, you were changing your lens. This is you the whole time.
I looked around for you. I didn't see you. I looked around. I did not see you,
and then I just was like, guess I'll go back outside. I can't find him. And then this is
what I saw you do. We're on. It's raining. This is Karakoy. This is our first stop. We have one
more, and then it's ours. This is so much fun though. Every single second of this. All we know
is that we have to meet our Airbnb host at a pancake house, and this is the closest way we
could get to it. I might have to put this camera away. It's raining a little too hard. This part
of town is adorable. There's so many little shops. It's really artsy looking. The buildings
are beautiful. It's freezing cold. We're really lucky that the place that we're meeting our Airbnb
host. It's really close, and it's a pancake house, so we're going to eat some pancakes.
It's so small though. All the shops are so small. We actually have to sit outside,
but there's a warmer here outside on our table and beneath near our feet.
This is great, even though it's raining and it's still cold.
I got a Turkish coffee, but with hazelnuts, so let's see how this goes.
It's pretty good. It still has that kind of muddy texture though, but definitely a better flavor.
You have syrup, white chocolate, Nutella, strawberries, and banana. No Turkish meal
is complete without some tea at the end, no matter the time of day. I love it.
Our host has met up with us, and he has taken us to our boutique hotel where we're going to stay
for the next week. It's finally stopped raining, and it's getting kind of sunny out. We will have
to come back out and show you guys this area. It is so cute and like picture perfect. Wow,
this is great. As soon as we got in here, I asked our host what building this was,
because we are right in front of a magnificent building. It's a high school. I promise you,
my high school did not look like that. Not even my high school looked like that.
I can't believe this. I'm obsessed. This place is awesome, and there's a terrace
that we have not gone to yet. There's one thing that you missed to film,
and that's the window in the bathroom. All right, get a good shot in there. Whoa, baby.
That's the reaction I'm looking for. I love this. It's time to check out the terrace.
Oh, my goodness. You got to be kidding me. $35 a night. We have our own bathroom,
our own kitchen, our own balcony, our own balcony. I don't know which view is cooler. I mean,
this one's 360 almost. Oh, my goodness. This city's beautiful. Our host did say to make sure
we kept the door shut up here because the cats get in. I don't know how the cats get up here,
but they are everywhere, so it wouldn't really surprise me. This is one of those instances where
I was like, no, I want to stay here. It's $5 more than the last place, which does add up. I know
that. I do not regret it. This was just one of the cheapest places on Airbnb. That's the only
reason we found it. We didn't know which area to look in. That's true. There is so far no bad areas.
There's no backpacker area. I'm sure there is, but every single one, it still has its own flavor.
It's got its own feel to it. So far, every single one of them has been great. It's much windier this
morning than it was last night. We completely failed to end yesterday's video. That happens
on the days when we get really excited and distracted. We are in this Airbnb for the next
10 days. It's $35 a night. We're just really excited to be here. It's got a grunginess to it.
Some things are falling apart, but this view makes all of that worth it. I'm shaking like a
leaf. If you enjoyed this video at all, like. If you want to follow us along, subscribe. And if you

I remember getting up on the terrace, looking down and being like, oh, someone else has a pretty nice
balcony. That's us. That was our balcony.
