Michael Corleone – played by Al Pacino – was recognized as the 11th most influential criminal figure in cinematic history by the American Film Institute. However, many critics consider Michael Corleone to be a tragic hero.

Michael Corleone is a tragic character; he never wanted to join the mafia. He tried, but fate didn't let him escape. First, he joined the Marines, and then he was forced to kill people to save his father.

Michael fled to Sicily under the arrangement of his family and was protected by Don Tommasino. While in Sicily, Michael fell in love with a local girl named Apollonia Vitelli. He quickly married Apollonia, whom he loved for the rest of his life. He thinks it's finally over and tries to settle down in Sicily with Apollonia.
