After the reboot in 2006, another Aston Martin DB5 (Reg: 56526) appeared in the Casino Royale episode. In which 007 Daniel Craig defeated a seeming connoisseur Alex Dimitrios, also a villain. The prize of that poker game was unexpectedly an Aston Martin DB5.

This James Bond Aston Martin DB5 has a Bahamian license plate and a left-hand drive, utterly different from previous versions with a right-hand drive. The DB5 left-hand drive won't reappear during Craig's Bond tenure. Instead, the classic Aston Martin DB5 full of utility (with original registration number BMT 216A) made a cryptic return in the 2012 Skyfall.

The Aston Martin DB5, produced by Aston Martin UK, is a grand tourer (GT) designed by Italian car builder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. The Aston Martin DB5 is an evolution of the last DB4 series and was first produced from 1963 to 1965.

The Aston Martin DB5 is the most famous cinematic "James Bond" car, although not the first in the DB series. It first appeared in the James Bond film Goldfinger (1964). In 2013, the car appeared on the "British Auto Legends" postage stamp issued by Royal Mail.

The DB4 Series V and DB5 differ mainly in the all-aluminum engine, which has been expanded from 3.7 liters to 4.0 liters; robust new five-speed ZF transmission (except for some early Aston Martin DB5s); and three SU carburetors. This engine, which helps the car reach 145 mph (233 km/h), produces 282 hp (210 kW). With the September 1963 introduction of the DB5, it became the standard Aston Martin engine.
