History of Rocket Science - Sputnik | Sputnik 2 | Hubble Space Telescope | The Rosetta Probe
Over the past 70 years, humanity has made great strides in space exploration and achieved many milestones, including the first sending of a living organism into space, the first landing on the moon, the telescope, the first usable space, and also landing on comets. In this video, we’ll go through the history of rocket science, and human greatest achievements in our astronomy history.
1. On October 14, 1957, the Soviet Union launched an 83kg satellite called Sputnik. As Sputnik orbits, it emits a beep that can be picked up by radio as it passes overhead.
2. About a month after November 3, 1957, the Soviet Union launched another spacecraft called Sputnik 2, carrying a hunting dog named Leica.
3. Hubble is a space telescope launched in 1990. The Hubble telescope is named after astronomer Edwin Hubble and is one of NASA's Great Observatories.
4. On March 2, 2004, an Aryan 5 carried the Rosetta probe. Together with Philae, its lander module, Rosetta made a detailed study of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko (67P). This is one of the most ambitious space missions ever launched.
