AI GeneratedMyron Gardner is emerging as a promising young talent for the Miami Heat, showcasing significant growth during the preseason. Known for his infectious energy and defensive tenacity, Gardner is evolving from a high-energy bench presence into a versatile \"jack-of-all-trades\" capable of contributing offensively and defensively.
This unlocks another level for this Miami Heat team
as a young star seems to be blossoming right in front of our very eyes.
I'm here to break down the two most recent performances from Myron
Gardner and how he looks to be taking a major step this offseason
and seems to be on the verge of getting
a huge role with this Miami Heat organization
despite being extremely overlooked through all
of the major moves they made this previous offseason.
We'll break down all of the moving parts
on this episode of Heat Digest,
but if you want to stay up to date with everything Miami Heat,

Again, we do appreciate all the love and support,
so thank you guys tremendously for everything
but now let's get to it and break down really what we
have witnessed from Myron Gardner including quotes
from head coach Erik Spoelstra and his overall
review on what these performances have shown him
and this Heat organization as a whole so in the
most recent game for the Miami Heat they played
the Minnesota Timberwolves and in that game they
did end up losing I believe 127 to 126 Ryan Conwell had
a shot at the buzzer that he ended
up missing but overall the performances from both Conwell
and Gardner were really really positive
that have all of Heat fans and Heat Nation really fired up
to say the absolute least Gardner in this
game had 12 points, 6 rebounds, five assists he shot four of 11 from the field
but he made three of his six
three-point shots for 50% but defensively he was a menace to anyone
and everyone not in a Heat jersey
collecting two steals and maintaining
the great defensive persona he has maintained throughout
the entirety of the preseason if you guys don't know
and you missed the Pelicans preseason game
as well Gardner was again on a roll
in that game again playing off of guys like Bam, Yannis
and various other guys that are known
and predicted to be obvious starters for this
team Gardner came in and in 14 minutes
of playing time he added 11 points four rebounds four assists
he made three of his six shots overall three
of them uh three of five from behind the three-point
line overall really really good stuff
not only showcasing his overall abilities in doing
everything rebounding facilitating
and defending as he added three steals and a block in this game
against the Pelicans he is knocking down
his three-point opportunities at a very high percentage
and they're not just happening in spot-up shooting situations
this young man in the game against the
Minnesota Timberwolves I'll pull that stat sheet back up
so we can understand where I'm coming
from no he didn't have an offensive explosion he didn't go out there
and give you 30 or 35 points
on 8 of 12 shooting or 10 of 12 shooting where he was just prolific
but he's going out there he's
getting to his spots and he's doing it with minimal dribbling
and also he can catch and
shoot without a doubt but his ability to put the ball
on the floor use a jab step take one dribble
going the opposite direction set his feet
and knock down a jump shot off that dribble move
is fantastic he also had a phenomenal move cutting to the basket
or not drive or i should say driving
to the basket not cutting to the basket where he started
on the right wing with the basketball
made one move was able to make a gather step
into a bit of a euro with contact against him
and he was able to get to a tough spot
and knock down a even tougher shot his energy is prolific
his he's really just infectious
when on the basketball court he's a lot of fun to watch
you guys remember last season against Clay
Thompson now current Miami Heat teammate he went
back and forth with Clay even
though he was on the bench Myron Gardner that is and Clay was on the
floor absolutely killing this Miami Heat team Gardner would
not stop talking and it got to the
point where Clay actually addressed him back
and he started talking back and there was a bunch of
chirping going back and forth between the youngster Myron Gardner
and the vet Clay Thompson and it
didn't end there we all remember the prolific fight
that happened last year in the NBA between
Myron Gardner basically it felt like the entirety
of the Memphis Grizzlies and Scotty Pippen Jr
specifically. As Gardner came up behind him,
Pippen caught and shot a three-point shot at the
top of the key right wing, if you will,
and Gardner found himself directly behind him when he came down
and gave him a little bit of a shove,
or maybe there was just some contact made there. Gardner
went back on the offensive side of the ball,
ran to the left corner, just finding a role, filling
the lane, and Scottie Pippen got up,
went straight down the floor, and just gave him a huge elbow
right to the chest they both go crashing to the floor
and all hell breaks loose between both teams
following that that is who Myron Gardner
was and he wasn't much of in the sense of a player who
produced a lot statistically in any major category
but you knew he was going to play good defense he
was going to bring a lot of energy he was going
to talk a lot whether he was on the floor or sitting
on the bench this year this guy looks like he could
be a legitimate option as a complimentary
and platoon piece at the forward position
and possibly even a two-guard position
for this Miami Heat organization.
And honestly, I'm extremely amped about it
because he can come in and bring you an infectious level of energy
and emotion that is just hard to go against.
And no, you're not expecting him to go out there
and be a 15 to 20 point per game score
while he's giving you five to eight rebounds
and four to eight assists per game and just stuffing the stat sheet.
Could he do that? Absolutely.
especially based off what we have witnessed in these preseason games
but again in the NBA once
the regular season actually does begin you're
not going to be playing against the same guys you see
in the preseason but he is showcasing the ability
to go out there be a jack-of-all-trades
stuff the stat sheet to a certain extent
and being extremely efficient in the shots he gets
these are huge check marks for the Heat
and specifically Myron Gardner who looks like he
wants to expand his role
with this Miami Heat organization now post game to the Minnesota
Timberwolves preseason game that took place just
a day ago we got this question from Zachary
Weinberger and a great answer from head coach Eric Spoelstra
that gives you an idea of where Spo
currently sits on the idea of what Myron Gardner
is going to be for this Miami Heat organization
and despite not being overwhelmed with uh the idea
of just hey yeah he's going to start some
games he's going to come off the bench he might
be a six-man type of guy that's not the answer
we necessarily got but he seems extremely optimistic
and proud of Myron Gardner to a
certain extent because of the progression he has witnessed
at least for a day's worth of time
and also just the overall feeling of emotion
and again just that infectious attitude that Myron
Gardner maintains that really makes him undeniable to a certain extent
so here's that quote again the
question from Zachary Weinberger
which we'll address first and then the actual answer from
head coach Eric Spoelstra Myron Gardner
that energy obviously he's trying to find a bigger role with
this team this season can you talk about the work he put in this summer
and the energy he brings to
this team where head coach Eric Spoelstra would
then respond with quote that's what he does he
brings a level of uncommon energy
and intensity this offseason was really about trying to give
that competitive energy some structure
and some discipline to it for a young player trying to
break through there are going
to be more frustrating times where it feels like a setback
and you have to develop that fortitude just
to continue to try to come back and learn from it
and have a great day the next day
and he was able to do just that for one day that's real progress
but it's undeniable his energy
and his toughness again head coach Eric Spoelstra not flat out
raving about Myron Gardner
but being positive about it understanding he is a young man he is
a young professional athlete
who doesn't have everything figured out just yet but based off
what we've witnessed this offseason what we have witnessed through
this point in the training camp
and obviously through three
or four preseason games he has highlighted his ability to despite
going out there and not making all his shots
in the first half coming out there in the second half
and staying determined, having a historic third and fourth quarter
where he was the offense, he was a focal point,
and he was someone that Miami Heat could rely
on on both sides of the floor,
offensively and defensively, because he just never went away.
Hey, I didn't make my first two or three shots.
Oh, I guess I won't shoot for the rest of the night.
No, stay aggressive, stay active, stay persistent.
Go out there and continue to do your job, and the ball will find you.
and when it does be enthusiastic be willing to go
be willing to go out there and make tough moves
and try to get tough baskets
and that's what Gardner did let me know down below what are your
thoughts on Myron Gardner and his future in Miami
do you want to see him get a big role immediately
would you like to see him maintain
the role it appears he's going to be in at least at the
beginning of the season where he is a second third
or even fourth string forward for this
team that's being filled in at the end of ball games
that are already out of reach or would you
like to just you know possibly look to put him
on a trade block for a team that's rebuilding trying
to grab a young piece or hold on to him
and just not use him as much as possibly we see him in
spring for spring training and training camp
and obviously through the preseason up to this point
I really like the idea of him getting more
of an ample opportunity where he's going to go in there
in semi-competitive games now if it's crunch time
and he's getting in for the first time and it's a
three to five point game and they're trying to close out
and they're on they have an offensive
possession I would not want to see Myron Gardner at least not yet
but if they're on the defensive
side of the ball and possibly have some foul trouble going
on and they need to bring him in
and have him at a two or possibly even a small forward position
which is his natural position
I would absolutely love that I truly would
because of what he is going to bring to this
team his defensive abilities with his athleticism
is really really interesting and I think it's
something this Heat team is going to be able
to get out of him to its maximum because of that
just that being what Miami is and really having
a backbone of that defense of that attitude of
that charisma and energy that he's going to maintain
and constantly have available to his
withdrawal I absolutely love what we've seen
from Myron Gardner I would love to know how you guys
feel about him and his play up to this point
in training camp as well as through uh in through
I want to say spring training again
and through um pre-season and I will see you guys on the
next episode of Eat Digest thank you guys for watching
