This is a GREAT sign for the Miami Heat...

This is a great sign for the Miami Heat as we got more updates surrounding arguably the biggest question mark on this Miami Heat roster in Nikola Jovic. I'm here to break down brand new quotes from head coach Erik Spoelstra as well as that big question mark Nikola Jovic and how it feels like this offseason was exactly what everyone needed in order to get Nikola Jovic back to the overall potential and the level of play everyone really expected from him when he was awarded that four-year 62.4 million dollar deal just over a year ago we'll break down all of the moving parts and why this is a positive sign for Jovic and this Heat fan base all on this episode of Heat Digest but first before we get to the news and information please do us a favor scroll down and smash that subscribe button we are on our way to 5,000 subscribers and we can't do it without you guys again we do appreciate all the love and support so again thank you guys for everything but now let's get to it and break down all of the moving parts involving Nikola Jovic and this Miami Heat organization as Jovic through this point in the preseason has not been that bad now is it exactly what everyone's looking for no but we are getting quotes from Jovic that point to the idea that he is continuing to improve he's continuing to mature and just graduate from that young man that's in the league that was just brought into the league two to three seasons in and despite seeing some progress and despite seeing some overall just talent and ability on the basketball court he got a little he got a little lazy no I shouldn't use the word lazy he got a little complacent I should say and he really just maintained and then he regressed we all know last season which left all of Heat Nation and this Heat organization asking a big question of did they make a mistake did they jump the ball did they give him a contract extension that it appeared he was ready for and simply he wasn't so we got this quote the first one that will break down quote i think i've matured this is a new year for me i'm smarter in certain situations not a bad quote not a bad idea Jovic improving ideologically in the idea of on the basketball court being able to diagnose specific defenses diagnose specific situations and understand at a faster rate a more efficient rate on what to do in those situations whether he is on ball or off ball which I absolutely love to see because that will improve his abilities and if you can put yourself in the right place at the right time especially with how this heat team is currently constructed there's a good chance he's going to continue to excel and really surpass all of the numbers and really expectations that were placed on him last year after a bunch of regression now before we continue to the rest of the news we do have to thank our sponsor for this video Calshi if you use the link down in the description or in the pinned comment and use code digest NBA when signing up new users get 55 dollars added to their account instantly when trading their first 25 now if you don't know what Calshi is Calshi is very nice it's very different from all of these other sports books you may think of because you're not trading or against a an actual casino or a house if you will you are trading against other users and which is just so refreshing and it's great now right now you can trade yes or no contracts on practically anything on Calshi movies tv shows politics weather anything and everything sporting events any of them by the way and right now you can trade yes or no contracts on the NBA Six Man of the Year finalists not even the winner but the finalist and right now you can get in on Nikola Jovic at a $25 trade you can make $390.94 and Jovic might be in a great position to be a legitimate six man of the year especially in a role where if he does go out there and show forms of improvement this could end up being a huge piece to this Miami Heat organization as that number one guy coming off the bench that really just produces another layer of offense while maintaining good defensive ability at the 3-4 or even 5 position because Jovic does maintain great defensive versatility now back to the quotes the next quote this one again from Nikola Jovic he says I had to grow up and I know it's very short it's very sweet but this is very very mature of him he's still a young young man like the guy is only what 22 years of age despite being in the league for three seasons or excuse me he's going into his age 23 season going into his fourth season in the pros this guy is still very young and it has to be understood it sometime is forgotten because of the contract that was awarded to him which he's going into the first year of again that 40 or excuse me 62.4 million dollar deal over the stretch of four seasons that he was awarded just over a year ago the idea that he's understanding I had to get smarter and that's what I did I put myself in the film room I put myself on the practice court a lot in game scenarios in just drills of sorts going out there and maturing realizing accepting the challenge putting the hand up in and taking on that accountability rather than shying away and really just trying to hide from all of the just negativity that was surrounding him and for good reason like if you look at the stats things did not work for Nikola Jovic and it's unfortunate because it looked like he was going to be the face of this Miami Heat franchise for a period of time going forward if you look at his scouting report you see perimeter defense gives Jovic a baseline contribution while the shot develops at 30 and a half percent what does that mean opponent field goal percentage beyond 15 feet is 30.6 percent that is really really good that ranks in the 96 percentile in the league and I know the amount of games is diminished because he only played in 46 last year but the idea is the same he has great size he has great length and he's still extremely athletic and he's not the heaviest set dude he can still move his feet laterally he can still move and get in front of these and in front of these offensive players as a primary defender he can come help side and alter shots because of the size and length he maintains this is something that can really unlock the Miami Heat and specifically Nikola Jovic as it looks like he really is accepting the challenge we've broken down quotes in the past through this point in the offseason from head coach Eric Spoelstra But he just continues to give us more and more information on this idea, which I greatly appreciate. He's not leaving Heat Nation in the dark for this instance. He's going out there and he's giving us updates, saying it's about handling it like we all have to when it doesn't necessarily go how we want it to go. And with that being said, he has it from the quotes we've gotten from Jovic and then Spo elaborating and saying he has the skills You can see that on display. Just stack positive days This is probably the number one focal point from head coach Eric Spoelstra. We know you have the skills. We know you have the abilities. We know you have the actual frame and physique to go out there and be an impact player at any of the three positions they would be willing to put you at. Small forward, power forward, or even center depending on the lineup and the situational matchups that they're currently facing in those games. It is something that can really unlock this Heat team if he can go out there and stack positive days. And even if you don't have a positive day, if you go out there and the shot is not falling, go out there and do other things that can complement this team. Rebound, defend, facilitate, do the things you absolutely have to. Set good screens, roll the basket, demand attention, unlock other teammates in specific plays and scenarios. These are things you can do without going out there and having to actually knock down the shot. Now, we already broke down the defensive numbers. let's get to this final quote I believe from head coach Eric Spoelstra yes he goes on to say quote it's about handling it like we all do oh we just broke this down I apologize we just broke this one down same idea being able to go out there and get the job done despite things not going the way you necessarily hope or want them to go now another key piece that we've mentioned a bunch of times during this point of the offseason but it's something that you have to take in yes the preseason games have been good for Jovic but where is that stemming from did he just take a full season off last year basically go into the offseason and understand you have to continue to work you have to continue to improve well no during the offseason before training camp and before the NBA summer league and before preseason actually began Jovic played over in FIBA and the dude was absolutely phenomenal especially on the sense in the sense of scoring the basketball he had a game with only five points yes he only shot two times he made both shots but he dealt with a lot of foul trouble picking up five fouls in 12 minutes of gameplay craziness to say but in the following three games in 23 minutes he had 21 points on 60% shooting he only made two of his six three-point shots but he didn't shy away he stayed very respectable and aggressive inside that three-point line he added three rebounds and two assists he did have three personal fouls again a foul trouble is going to be an issue it appears for Jovic but outside of that 32 point game on 11 of 15 shooting made seven of his nine three-point shots just imagine when he's playing alongside Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo and a surplus of other really good three-point shooters this could really be what unlocks Jovic in the rest of this team and then finally in that final game in FIBA 22 points again eight of 13 shooting from the field despite only making one of his four three-point shots two rebounds and five assists Nikola Jovic is just doing what he needs to do to get the job done and be the impact player everyone expects him to be now to conclude this video please let me know down below how do you guys feel on Nikola Jovic a are you over it or b are you ready to double down on him and his abilities and his ability to really produce for this Miami Heat team thank you guys for watching this episode of Heat Digest again remember to sign up for Calci with the link down in the description or in the pinned comment and I will see you guys on the next episode of Heat Digest thank you guys for watching
