Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video discusses the Philadelphia 76ers' current state following media day, focusing on the massive economic surge triggered by LeBron James' arrival and the team's projected rotations and chemistry heading into training camp.
Fresh off the greatest media day in NBA or any sports history.
We got to keep talking about how great things are right now
for the Sixers.
I want to run down two main plot lines today.
One being projected minutes and rotations for the team
and two is my continued fascination with the economy of the Sixers
and how everything has just become completely made-up
runaway Monopoly money now that LeBron has showed up.
And while I love it, it's also just fascinating.
I have never seen in my lifetime a jump from, you know,
from here to here in terms of the numbers that are going on
with a squad that I follow.
What's going on?
Everybody Christian Patterson back another episode of Sixers
digest the show that is so stoked to welcome you back into
the seasons worth of daily content.
Not the off seasons worth of rinse and repeat talking about
LeBaron file and liking to fish.
We'll still talk about LeBaron file, but it's now actual
basketball stuff.
If you want to subscribe follow like comment all those other
YouTube buttons.
It's always greatly appreciated.
The first thing that I want to talk about is the Sixers being
covered in CNBC.
And now it's not necessarily like crazy novel knew that a
sports team makes it into a financial institution like a
Wall Street Journal Forbes any of those magazines, but for
me it my experience has been that it has been New York and
LA teams bar none always being the ones that get the coverage
and very rarely if ever has it been any team that I have ever
rooted for getting that kind of coverage and yet here we are
being talked about in depth and we're going to get to all of
those numbers.
But first we got to cover some other numbers and say thank
you to Cal sheet for sponsoring this video.
I'll remind you all that we are the third favorite team to
win the NBA championship on the Cal sheet markets right now.
And if you want to get in on that action, Cal sheet will
hook you up.
If you use the code digest NBA when you're signing up when
you trade your first $25 in options, Cal sheet will hook
you up with $55.
Okay running down the numbers here.
They like I said are made up Monopoly Monopoly money numbers
first one being that overall LeBron James coming here is
going to maybe not singularly LeBron James, but the estimation
post LeBron James because this is not very little.
This is credited to Anthony Simons or aerial Huck Portis
signing but that this is going to be potentially a boom of
up to $430 million for the local economy.
Let that sink in for a second the total of local economy
argument being made that like it's going to be you know,
restaurants travel company beer sales Etc.
Etc.
It's like it's not just the team's going to make that money.
That's just the local economy.
So I can ask you if the team doesn't win the championship,
but he provides a boom to the city low-key does that still
make this a success or not?
Maybe that's more esoteric of a question than we need to
answer the the bloom energy replacing crypto is worth more
than 30 million and is now a top to deal in the league for
a jersey patch sponsor, which again crazy to be at the higher
end of this one of all of these and ticket sales.
We already talked about how they're going crazy for the
cheapest ones are like 80 bucks for only for the home games
and the cheapest ones for most of the home games are up in
the several hundreds.
They're selling according to a person from spokeswoman from
StubHub at seven times last year's rate going from 22nd to
first for tickets sold.
So look at that.
We are first in tickets over second in Jersey patch sponsorship
numbers.
We're like the Sixers are the epicenter of money being spent
in the NBA and that is crazy.
But again is not like that's not even the on-court discussion
because the on-court discussion gets to me even more nuts.
This was the headline in the New York Times this morning are
the Sixers the greatest chemistry experience in NBA history.
We're about to find out and while some of this is more of that
what I have described as a tired ass argument that the offseason
was all about.
Well, how are they going to make all this work?
It is interesting to see it ever so slowly is going to stop
being the hypothetical of it and the real of it and we will
have to make this argument throughout the season and it's
interesting just to see now that we have some real quotes from
media day and not from podcasts or leaked interviews or little
like off the record stuffs, you know, it's an eclectic group
of dudes.
But again with all of this discussion as much as it is, I
think a gamble to move this many pieces around on the board
and put this many pieces together in a crazy fashion like this
with big high-energy superstars usage rates, etc, etc, etc.
I also do at least right now.
My default starting position for this season is I have to trust
Mike Gancy's vision and plan and that he isn't just smashing
buttons to spam trades and be like, okay, let's just accumulate
numbers here, but has an actual philosophy and vision behind
how to put one of the NBA's greatest players and personalities
with a superstar arising combo of Batman and Robin that he likes
and one of the most worldly players together with a center whose
body is broken, but his mind and his spirit are strong and that
the background supporting cast is there and that yes, it will
be a fascinating experiment and experience to watch it all happen
with training camp officially around the corner.
The projected depth chart here.
I think is kind of it is kind of a no-brainer.
I don't you know, I don't foresee any of the two-way or x10 guys
necessarily making the making the lineup.
This one doesn't include the center position just was this was
the tidiest of the idea of the graphics that I saw and I'm not
really surprised anything.
I don't think there's really much of like a competition for the
actual positioning and on the depth chart.
I think the competition to figure all of this out is going to be
in the actual minutes played and this one was really interesting
to me of of actually just getting to sit there and really think
about okay.
We've discussed a ton of who's going to get what who's going to
be first guy off the bench.
Who's going to be this that or the like who's going to be the
spark?
I made some trollish idiotic moronic offseason comments about
what if we bring LeBron off the bench just so he can win that
sixth man because Jordan didn't have one this being a much more
realistic look at it.
I think it's interesting to say that Dean Wade is the sixth man
in the sense of Dean Wade isn't necessarily an offensive spark,
but is a defensive guy.
And that is the question that we have had all offseason is how
are the Sixers going to figure out the defense that they need
and so yeah, my daughter is coming in here to agree with Dean
Wade coming off the bench.
She is a big Dean Wade and also I am making sure that she grows
up being a huge Adem Bona fan, but Anthony Simons being that
second man.
I would have had KCP behind him as another one of those big
offensive options coming off the bench, but then to have it be
Barlow here as this projected one is interesting to me.
So let me know what you guys think about all of the different
projections all of the different minutes and depth chart and
everything that's going on because it's going to be real to
me the fascinating watch this training camp is going to be what
happens between everybody that's not a starter and that is a very
interesting dynamic to be in versus anything else.
Thank you everybody for tuning in.
Thank you for putting up with me being a stay-at-home dad while
I get all this done until next time go Sixers.
We'll talk to you soon.
