The Patriots Are Gearing Up for Some HUGE Moves...
Oct 8, 2026
The New England Patriots are gearing up for some huge moves as with NFL week five on the horizon
and the Patriots injury struggles continuing to put them into tough positions. The Patriots look
to add some guys at the running back spot and at the offensive line position as well as Elliott
Wolfe brings in a multitude of guys as options. We break down the potential signings of Jamal
Williams, Cody Ford and so much more here today on Patriots Digest. We appreciate you watching
and hope you're having a great day wherever you guys might be. Again, thanks so much for
the past couple of days bearing with me been out of town actually was in New York this weekend and
I appreciate you for coming back and watching. Of course, we'll be live again this weekend
for the Patriots versus the Raiders and what hopefully is another good game from Drake May
looks really solid against the bills. Hopefully he continues that. But to continue that,
you obviously got to have some guys around you. I'm Andre Stevenson dealing with an injury
while the Patriots are taking it into their own hands to go out and make some additions.
And that is where Jamal Williams comes in as he's headlining the Patriots workout that they
officially gave a tweet about her kind of talked about as they tried out a multitude of different
guys. Here are the names that they did end up working out yesterday. Offensive tackle Cody
Ford, defensive back Stephen Hall, tight end Josh Caddis and center Jaron Kump plus the running back
that I mentioned Jamal Williams want to focus on two of the guys here on this list. In particular,
Jamal Williams and Cody Ford. Those seem to be the best options. Obviously, the offensive line
and Jaron Kump is obviously something to look at as well, which we'll talk about just a little bit.
But Cody Ford, obviously the better position at the tackle slot. So I want to talk about both
those and really excited to see how those guys signed could really help us out even this week
as we head into week five. Speaking of week five, it starts out in the NFL tomorrow night
when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, you can trade on
Cal sheet on this game. I'm going to trade yes on the Cowboys winning, but I'm going to do one
step for them and say they're going to win by over nine and a half points. I'm going to say
they're going to win by 10 or more. I'm thinking a touchdown plus a field goal win seems pretty
good. $80 trade on this is going to get you $167 and 56 cents back on Cal. So you're trading
directly against other users, not the house like an additional sports book. You're buying yes or
no contracts and the outcome of events across sports, politics, or even the weather. And you
can trade right now on week five here in the NFL. And if you'd like to sign up today, well, boy,
do we have a deal for you? Because if you're interested in trying out our presenting sponsor
calcium, you use the link in the description or alongside the pinned comment. And then of course,
this code here, digest NFL. When new users create an account and you trade your first 25, you're
going to get an extra $55 immediately added in your account. So that's where the $80 comes from.
You can go make this trade right now. If you sign up today and put $80 on the trade for the Cowboys
to win by over nine and a half points, get you some bread back. So go check it out. And of course,
we appreciate how she were sponsoring today's video. Williams is a guy who I do think can be
a really good option. And of course, we do know what we're looking at with her Andre Stevenson,
or rather don't know what we're looking at just yet. But Williams can be a guy who can come in
here and perform to a pretty good degree. And of course, you know, has been kind of a whirlwind.
The most recent time he got some regular season reps was in 2024. So not exactly, you know,
amazing with the receiving yards, but he does fit with this team. And I think that's something
that is a good thing. And you look at what he brings veteran NFL experience is one of them,
but short yardage and goal line background. So that way you can kind of use Trayvion to be
the bell cow back. And then when you get down to that goal line, you've got a big body in Williams
and that can push through and run through and potentially, you know, get you into the end zone,
which is what Ramon Dre has been, you know, keen on. Plus he's got past protection experience,
which I cannot express how important it is to keep Drake may in a clean pocket and keep him
upright. Looked really solid when he had, you know, majority of those things in the game this
past Sunday against the bills keeps that in a good spot. Plus I always say it, but if you have
special teams experience, you put yourself in a better spot. You make it to where you are ultimately
going to be signed more often because you are flexible. I mean, simple as that, you're flexible
across a team. You can be put into multiple different positions and played in different
slots. So do you think the Patriots should go out there in sign Jamal Williams? Let us know in the
comment section with an a, you think they should? Yes, a B can be no, or you can type y for yes,
and for no, whichever one. If you think you should be on the practice squad, only then type
C as well. So should the Patriots sign Jamal Williams? A for yes, B for no, or C if you think
he should be signed, but only to the practice squad at this current moment. Now, he's not the
only guy that was worked out again. We mentioned ultimately five guys who are down Cody Ford,
Stephen Hall. Of course, you got the tight end in a Josh Kaddish, Jaron Kump, and then, of course,
Jamal Williams, but I think that Williams is, of course, the guy that you look to the best, but
Williams, you can fit this backfield. I think that's a big thing that, you know, Pete possesses,
and the running back depth is, I'm not going to say thin for the Patriots, but you've got,
you've got some options. Romandre Stevenson, Trayvon Anderson, Corey Kinner, and then Lynn
Larrison is on your practice squad, but Romandre right now didn't practice today. So if he's not
on there, it's going to be a little bit of a tough slot. And so he can kind of come in and
produce the role that you want. It's going to be running back three insurance. You've got goal
line option again, veteran pass protector, plus special teams depth. I cannot, cannot break into
how, how big special teams is. Plus the Patriots, you know, they've got some space there, you know,
the salary cap sheet's not exactly right, but they've got some space. They're not really worried
about what it is. And I think that he can be a good spot and a good piece for this team. I think
he's ultimately a guy who the Patriots should very much consider signing. And I do think that he is
honestly a veteran guy who we can really trust in so many different ways. Now, I do think the one
thing that is kind of a little bit concerning about Williams is that he has not played since
2024. We're talking about over a season worth of absence for him. You go back to a statistics
though, in 2024 with the new Orleans saints, it was 14 games, just 48 carries for 164 yards
and the one touchdown, but you know, it is capable of 2022 was his big season, 17 games,
260 plus carries over a thousand yards, rushing average 4.1 yards per carry. And at 17 touchdowns,
remember still a bunch of touchdowns from a certain somebody on the Detroit line staff.
So that was interesting, but I do think that he's a good fit. I think that, you know,
especially in a short term role, putting him on the practice squad, bringing him up,
and it's a good option. Now he was not the only one that was worked out. And of course,
the guy that I do want to also bring up is going to be Cody Ford. I think that he's a name to watch
for as well. He fits this team. I mean, he really does. You think about the offensive
line struggle with the offensive line injuries that you have seen with the New England Patriots
lately. And Cody Ford is a guy who has some experience and veteran NFL starters to tackle
got some guard versatility, former second round pick. Plus he's more insurance, the offensive
line. It just, it's not great. It continues to be in a really tough spot with the injuries.
And you think about what we have left on here. No Van Roten. No, when you look pretty saw with
Rousin and Brown there in week four against the bills, but you just don't have many backups.
Right now you have a Lomu, Rousin, Crownover as your backup guys. And so having that extra
tackle slot, it's a huge thing. And Lomu, I mean, I know he's a rookie and I know that Will Campbell's
looked better in year two, but Lomu has not looked very good. It just did. It's not been great for
the first year out of Utah. So the offensive line is certainly a concern here for the New England
Patriots. And, uh, you, you are getting a lot of pressure off the right side. We talked about that
last week. And when, you know, when you lost, you know, when you lost to when you, and then Moses
had to come out, it just put a lot of pressure on Drake. Man, this is a way to avoid that.
Now do you think it's interesting? Because obviously this is something that, you know,
maybe you choose between one or the two of these guys. So I think I want to know what your thought
is. Who's the beggar need. Do you think that Jamal is the bigger need at running back? Or you think
that Cody Ford is the bigger need at offensive line. So let us know in the comment section,
who do you think is the bigger need a for Jamal Williams B for Cody Ford and put that
down in the comment section. But, um, it's, it's a pretty big thing for the Patriots to try and
figure out what they want to do over this next couple of weeks. And it's bigger than just two
veterans. And I think that's a huge thing. A lot of guys were in this workout again,
Katis, Crump, Hall, Ford, and Williams were the big ones and, um, trying to figure out what they
want to do. And we know that the Patriots are looking for help in a couple of different places.
And these really do line up. We know the offensive line has been a concern. We know that with, you
know, kinder, hasn't been great, but he's been fine. And with our Mondrian injured, you are in
a spot where you are trying to kind of figure out. So, uh, I'm, I'm kind of intrigued to see
how this does go. They did make a siding at all of this. Mike Reese talked about the moves here
that they did make. Um, they were at least from the 53-man roster, Jose Ramirez, who they brought
up from practice squad. They signed from the practice squad, cornerback, Alizeon Hamilton,
and they released Demetrius weather, uh, Demetrius weather Weatherspoon off of the 53-man or other
practice squad as well. So already making some roster moves and looks like they continue to,
um, potentially make some moves as well. So looking to see what happens, but obviously
there's a lot of things to keep watch of. Now, overall, I think the bottom line of all this
is that I think that Williams is worth considering. I mean, fully is Ford is a guy who you should
obviously consider as well, you know, a need there and the Patriots with the moves they had
today that they're still looking for people to help out. This is an ever-growing team.
And we know the depth has constantly been a question for this team and for Mike briefly
talked about before the season even starts. So let us know what you think down in the comments
section. Of course, we'll keep you updated on everything that happens. And for now,
guys, we appreciate you watching peace.
