Team USA Avoids a Presidents Cup Disaster

It wasn't quite another miracle at Medina, but the U.S. actually needed a comeback to
win the President's Cup.
The Internationals led after Friday and Saturday before order was restored on Sunday.
World order.
Team USA looked shaky at times, but Brant Sanderhurst can now breathe a huge sigh of
relief.
He will not go down as the answer to the trivia question of who was the captain when the U.S.
lost the President's Cup for the first time in nearly three decades.
And Golf Digest avoided an all-time cover jinx as well.
Phew.
The city of Chicago almost avoided any embarrassing fan moments, but there was the incident on
the 14th hole Sunday that caused Scotty Sheffler to scold a spectator.
The World No. 1 also ranked No. 1 in terms of sportsmanship for the week, because minutes
later he gave Nico Echevarria a 32-foot putt to have the hole, because he felt bad for
his opponent.
Now that's class.
Overall, the Chicago fans were much better behaved than the New York ones at Bethpage
Black last year at the Ryder Cup.
Of course, that's a low bar.
A very low bar.
Like a bar near the very end of a limbo contest.
I should give special shout-outs to a few players including Tom Kim, Siwoo Kim, and
Sung Jae In.
At times, it felt like Team Korea was holding its own against Team USA.
And for the Americans, who badly needed a win after losing the Ryder Cup, Soham Cup,
and Walker Cup in the past year, Cameron Young, Chris Gotterup, and 21-year-old Jackson Coyvin
were awesome all week.
We're going to see a lot of that club-twirling young man over the next few decades.
Speaking of predictions, Seneca may have made his biggest blunder after the event was over
when he boasted that this team is going to be a problem in Ireland, a reference to next
year's Ryder Cup.
That event is still 12 months away, but he's already given Team Europe's 12 golfers some
very juicy bulletin board material.
