I want to welcome all my friends out there to another edition of the Wellness Talk podcast.
I am George Batista, your host and your wellness advocate.
Wellness Talk is the show that goes over the latest in health, healing, nutrition, and
fitness.
It's always an honor to share this information with you and glad you could take some time
out of your day to check us out and hopefully learn something today.
In the news, we're always keeping you up to date on what's going on, of course.
And in the news, semaglutides and ozempic are in the news and it's not good.
I've been talking about that for a while now.
If you've been following this show for any length of time, and if you go back to some
of the shows I've done, I've talked about the semaglutides and ozempic and all those
types of things and was it worth it?
One of the things I talked about was, is it worth it for weight loss?
Well, there's some information now that's come out and it's not good.
And actually now some celebrities or some sisters of celebrities are coming out and
talking about exactly what they've gone through with the drug.
So we're going to talk about that.
I'm going to play some clips on that and I'm going to give you my thoughts on what's going
on.
So that's where we're going to start today.
Then from there, we're going to go into the B vitamins.
Today, we're going to really dive into B vitamins.
So the first one, a brand new information that just came out from nature communications
and this is B vitamins may help those with artery disease walk further.
So we all know that B vitamins are helpful in so many things, whether it's nerves, whether
it's energy, ATP, all these types of things.
But now there's even some good information out there on people that have peripheral artery
disease.
And brand new study on this, by the way, actually helps people work, walk farther.
This is good news.
So those of you who are having issues with walking, maybe you're having some pain, maybe
you suffering from peripheral artery disease, check it, check it out because brand new information
on this.
We'll dive into that.
Then from there, from wellness resources, the essential role of B vitamins and blood
sugar and kidney health.
So we're going to go from peripheral artery disease to blood sugar and kidney health.
And I've done some shows on B vitamins and how they help your energy and ATP production,
those types of things.
But today we're going to talk about kidney health specifically and blood sugar metabolism.
So you may not know that B vitamins are very good for that and what their role is specifically
in those health issues.
So we'll dive into that.
It's really good information, very specific information that we've got there.
So make sure you guys, you know, check out the article obviously because it's got a ton
of information, but we'll go through it.
So you guys can check that out.
Then we're going to do a nutrient spotlight and it's going to be on keratin.
That's right.
It's this, this is again from wellness resources, the key to stronger, healthier hair.
So those of you who may be getting older, maybe your hair is thinning out, maybe you
know, you're having issues with your, you know, your hair or whatever, it's not the
way it used to be.
Well, we're going to talk about hair, skin and nails, which is one of the supplements
from wellness resources.
And then we're going to talk about keratin and a new form of keratin and a very absorbable
form of keratin.
Now you may have heard of keratin and you know, a lot of commercials talk about it and
you know, maybe it's in some kind of, you know, hair products and things like that's
supposed to strengthen your hair, but what if it was in a supplement and a very absorbable
supplement?
So we're going to talk about that again from wellness resources.
So we'll talk about exactly what keratin is and what supplements it's in and the specific
form that is very, very absorbable for you and that you should take a look at.
So those of you have thinning hair, check this out.
So that's what we got on tap for you today.
A lot, of course, a lot of great information for you as always, and keeping you in the
know, that's what we do on this show as always, of course, go to georgebautista.com.

So, uh, thank you so much for those of you who do that.
All right guys.
So, uh, of course, before we start, we want to give some love to our sponsor here.
So we'll want to take a look at, of course, wellness resources, wellness resources, uh,
you know, for those of you who don't know, I've been talking about wellness resources
for very, very long time and on this show ever since I've been doing this show, but
I've been on wellness resources supplements for about 17 to 18 years now, and they are
a family owned and operated nutritional supplement company providing the highest quality clinically
formulated supplements since 1985.
And I love them because they are family owned and operated and they are high quality supplements
and their first priority is making sure that these supplements are the highest quality.
They're clinically formulated to their only use the formulas that have been used in clinical
settings.
Keep that in mind.
When you're looking at supplements, I have people that, you know, come to me all the
time and say, where can I get some really, really quality supplements?
Because you know, sometimes they'll go to their neighborhood box store and get these
big jar of supplements, but do they work?
That is the question.
Do they work?
Well, you know, if you come to me, one of the first places I'm going to point you at
point you to is the wellness resources supplements, because again, they, they check all the boxes
and, um, you know, I have those supplements every single day in my house, in my cupboards,
and I take them every single day, twice a day, by the way, I'll to make sure I have
all my nutritional gaps covered.
So if you want to do that as well, make sure you go to my vitamin resource.com and check
out all of wellness resources, supplements.
Don't forget that every single month that they have a special and the on the special
for this month is 25% off their skin joint and repair supplements.
We're going to be talking a little bit about hair as well, and what B vitamins can do for
the skin joint hair repair and all those types of things.
So again, uh, check out wellness resource supplements, 25% off skin joint and repair.
It's my vitamin resource.com if you want to check out their supplements and I suggest
you do.
All right, guys.
So let's get started on our articles, uh, for this week.
And of course we've got, you know, we're keeping you in the know, making sure you know what's
going on on there with some of the stories that are relevant.
And the first one we're going to talk about today is ozempic and the semaglutides.
Okay.
So, uh, I posted this on the website and, uh, this is called ozempic overdoses surge
as model Lottie Moss warns, it's not worth it.
Okay.
And, um, this is an interesting one.
Okay.
Because I'm actually going to play a clip from this.
Now you guys can obviously check out the article because it goes more in depth, but the model
actually has a clip.
Now I, again, I've been talking about ozempic and I've been talking about the semaglutides
on this show for a long time.
And my question to you guys was, is it worth it?
We're seeing now, right?
We're seeing the side effects that are coming out from these, um, from these drugs, more
and more side effects are coming out.
Okay.
I talked about the stomach paralysis, which was the first big side effect.
I talked about the pancreatitis, the higher risk of thyroid cancer.
Those were the big ones that we talked about on this show.
Okay.
And for those of you who are, again, are not familiar with ozempic and the semaglutides,
ozempics basically was a blood sugar medication, but one of the side effects was weight loss.
And that, that was the big thing, right?
Because it basically, um, it basically kind of gave you the full signal for a very long
period of time.
And people started losing crazy weight with these types of drugs.
And of course, you know, it became a big thing, right?
It became all the rage throughout social media and all this.
And now, um, you know, celebrities are talking about a lot of people are going out and trying
this thing.
But again, the question is, is it worth it?
You know, because now the more and more side effects are coming out and we really want
to see, um, if this is something that, you know, obviously the, the drug makers that
are making it, their, their first flex as well, especially with ozempic specifically,
they're saying, well, it was never marketed for weight loss.
It was marketed for blood sugar.
So you know, it was never approved for weight loss.
So that's kind of their answer to, which was, you know, we didn't tell them to use it for
weight loss.
They, they're just using it technically.
That is correct.
Okay.
But they're not stopping people from using it either.
Right.
So, you know, you have to take a look at that, but let's talk about the model.
Her name is Lottie Moss.
And again, she is the sister of Kate Moss.
And she has a message for people who are interested in using this because she used it.
And she's going to talk about what she went through when she used it.
So check out what she has to say about this drug.
I'm not going to lie to you guys.
I definitely tried it when I tell you it was the worst decision I ever made.
So if this is a warning to anyone, please, if you're thinking about doing it, do not
take it.
Like it's so not worth it.
Lottie Moss issues a warning about ozempic.
The younger sister of supermodel Kate Moss appears on a new episode of her Dream On podcast
titled My Ozempic Hell.
She details her hospitalization after taking the type two diabetes drug commonly used for
weight loss.
I felt so sick one day, I said to my friend, like, I can't keep any water down.
I can't keep any food down, like no liquids, nothing.
I need to go to the hospital.
Like I feel really sick.
I have a picture and like my eyes were like almost like concaving and like it was so dead.
My face was dark, like dead, like there was no color in it.
So we went to the ER at like three in the morning because it was like I literally just
it was three in the morning.
I was like, I can't like even get water down like this is so bad.
The 26 year old goes on to explain how she learned she had actually overdosed on the
popular drug.
We go and see one of the nurses and she's like, how much of a dose are you taking?
And I was like, you know, however much.
And she said, oh, my God, like that's so not what you're meant to be taking.
She asked how much weight I dropped in the last two weeks.
I told her she was like, right, we need to get someone to come and get you.
So she sent me to the emergency room.
I got wheelchaired through the hospital.
I literally had a seizure from how dehydrated I was, which honestly was the scariest thing
that's ever happened to me in my life.
I've never, ever had seizures.
I've never, ever had like any serious health problems in my life, really.
And it just scared me so much.
My my friend Reese had to hold my feet down and it was just so scary.
Like the whole situation, I didn't know what was going on.
Like my face was clenching up.
My whole body was like tense.
Despite the drug's prevalent use for weight loss, a rep for Novo Nordisk, the
pharmaceutical company that makes Ozempic, previously said in a statement to E!
News that Ozempic is, quote, not approved for chronic weight management.
The model goes on to slam the weight loss trend, which she says contributes to
harmful body image issues.
This heroin chic trend right now coming back, which was something that happened in
the 90s, like we should not be going back there.
This should not be a trend right now.
It's it's just where did the positive body positivity go?
So it's a very telling thing, right now, obviously, one of the things you take out of
that is that she was using way too much.
So she was overdosing on the medication.
So that's that's a problem.
And so but it goes does go to a larger issue.
How many people out there are overdosing on these medications?
How many people are seeing drastic weight loss and going, I have to use more and more
of this? And then the other question that I asked last time I spoke about this was.
What happens when you stop the medication?
Do you have to be on this medication for the rest of your life or, you know, when the
people that stop, do they gain the weight back?
Oh, is there any kind of long term side effects to this?
We really don't know.
We still don't know.
But yet it's being marketed like it's candy at this point.
So this is where I say that you have to be again, you have to kind of be a detective
with this and say, is it worth it?
Maybe maybe you should wait.
If you're thinking about using this, maybe you should wait to see what are the actual
side effects. What are the long term risks for the long term side effects of this?
You know, this could be this could be a really big issue.
Right. So, you know, when we dive into a little bit further and again, I put the article
on the site. One of the other things that you that we realize is that, you know, and
I'll read it directly from the from the articles of the Utah Poison Control Center has
seen a six hundred and forty percent increase in calls related to Ozempic and similar
drugs since 2020.
This report comes at the same time as the as this model, Lottie Moss, you know, had an
overdose experience with it.
OK. And also a CNN report in December said poison control centers across the country
saw a 15 fold increase in the number of submegalotide overdose reports in 2023 when
compared to twenty nineteen in ninety four percent of those calls.
The submegalotide medication was the only substance reported.
So again, this is something you really have to look at.
Is this worth it?
OK, as I always say, you know, yes, side effects can be rare until it happens to you
then it's not so rare.
But this is part of the problem.
This is part of the larger problem that we're having in society today.
Right. Because again, we're looking for the magic weight loss pill.
We're looking for these types of things.
And then, of course, we get sold a bill of goods by our public health officials.
Right. And, you know, I want to remind you guys, this was a clip that I had played a
while back of someone who is in public health from Stanford University, Dr.
Fatima Cody.
She's in the public health sector and she's one of these people who's very influential.
She does a lot of speaking engagement.
She goes around, she talks about obesity and these types of things.
But I want to remind you what she says about obesity, which is very, very interesting.
So I just let me play that again for you guys in case you missed it.
It was a 60 minutes program that she was on where they asked her about the obesity
epidemic. And this is what she said.
But the number one cause of obesity is genetics.
That means if you are born to parents that have obesity, you have a 50 to 85 percent
likelihood of having the disease yourself, even with optimal diet, exercise, sleep
management, stress management.
So when people see families that have obesity, the assumption is what are they feeding
those kids? Yeah, they're doing something wrong.
Actually, do you know this?
Seventy nine to 90 percent of physicians in the United States have significant bias
towards individuals that are heavier.
So when you hear things like that on 60 Minutes and just in public health in general,
this this is the message that gets out, the message that says that exercise and diet do
nothing. So it's genetic.
The number one thing that's that's exactly what she said.
It's genetic, which is very interesting, because if you think about if you think about
it logically, in the hundreds of thousands of years that human beings have been on this
planet, right, we never had a problem with obesity through all those years, never had an
issue. Right.
All of a sudden, what, 40 years ago, maybe because maybe the obesity epidemic started
roughly about 40 years ago, maybe early 80s, late 70s, early 80s.
All of a sudden, this is when the gene all of a sudden decides to just spark out of
control and obesity goes up from that point.
Like, I mean, literally triples where now we're at almost 50 percent obesity.
Right. The United States itself is in the 40 percent of, you know, of overweight and
obese people.
And apparently, apparently this gene affects you depending on where you live, because
when United States it affects you, you know, almost at at half, but yet when you're in
other countries, the overweight and obese epidemic is 10 percent.
Some countries, 6 percent to 10 percent to 15 percent.
But yet the United States is 40 percent.
So it also depends where you are.
It's very interesting. Right.
So, again, this is what they try to convince you that exercise and diet, don't worry
about that. Okay.
Just take this drug. Just take this pill.
Just take whatever it is.
Take this megalotite.
And, you know, forget about the side effects and the side effects are rare.
Don't worry about it. So this is the market.
This is this is all the stuff that's that's going on behind the scenes right now.
And again, like I said, we have to be smarter than that.
We have to really take a look at.
So the so again, you know, keeping you guys in the know, just so you guys understand
what's going on with this, of course, I'm going to continue to report this.
I'm going to continue to let you let you guys know what's going on with this, because
this is something that that, you know, people need to know, people don't know.
And and and the point is, at the end of the day, again, like I said, we we don't know
what the long term side effects are.
And it's just a wait and see game.
But like I say, with all these types of things, do a risk reward analysis
with it and see, is it worth it to do, you know, to take to to take this
medication or whatever it is that you're taking?
So just something to keep in the back of your mind, folks.
You know, you guys can decide whatever it is, what's best for you.
But my job is just to provide you the information.
All right. We'll continue on next.
We're going to get into B vitamins.
We're going to specifically talk about B vitamins in terms of helping people walk.
OK, and this is a specific article.
It's actually this was published in the Nature of Communications, and this is B
vitamins may help those with artery disease walk farther.
So this is brand new information on this.
So let's take a look at what it says.
Peripheral artery disease or PAD occurs when blood vessels narrow and reduce
blood flow, basically going to the limbs.
OK, so this is this results in impaired function.
It can result in pain.
It can result in, you know, your walking performance, not your you're not walking
so well and that type of thing.
Now, the condition affects more than 12 million Americans, according to
the organization's estimates.
Now, people with PAD have usually have difficulty walking long distances.
So what they wanted to do was a study and it was a study that sought to test the
effectiveness of a form of vitamin B3 called nicotinamide riboside in people with
PAD. OK, now, nicotinamide riboside is the precursor to NAD Plus, which is
nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide.
OK, basically it's a coenzyme that's essential for creating energy from the food
that you eat and also helps with cellular function, cellular metabolism and cellular
repair. OK, so this vitamin B3 is the precursor to NAD Plus.
Keep that in mind. OK, so this was a clinical trial that included 90 people with
PAD who are asked to walk as far as they could for six minutes during baseline
testing. And after taking either the nicotinamide riboside alone or the
combination with resveratrol or placebo for six months, the participants completed
another time walk.
So those who took the nicotinamide riboside along with increase alone increased
their six minute walk distance by 17 meters compared to placebo, according to
the study. OK, so those folks who took it alone actually increased their walk time
by six minutes. OK, this was taking the vitamin B3 and the what they say here, and
I'm going to quote from the study.
She says that or the author of the study says when we focused on people who took at
least 75 percent of their nicotinamide riboside, the benefits were greater and
approximately 30 meter improvement in walking distance compared to placebo.
They also say we are encouraged by the positive findings.
Now, in healthier human populations, the vitamin B3 supplement did not show
beneficial effect in the six minute walk.
It may be that because patients with PAD have severe pathologic changes in their
skeletal muscles, damaged mitochondria, increased oxidative stress and skeletal
muscle damage.
Because of that, they are more susceptible, they are more susceptible to benefits
from the nicotinamide riboside.
OK, and that would make sense because what we find here, especially with supplement
use and that type of thing, sometimes people are going to get more benefits from a
certain supplement when they are more at risk.
So, for example, if they're dealing with a specific illness, a specific disease or
whatever, whatever condition that they're dealing with when they're dealing with
that. And they have a big load of oxidative stress that they deal with on a
regular basis. Sometimes when you introduce a supplement or you introduce some kind
of change in their in their patterns, dietary patterns, lifestyle patterns, these
types of things, you're going to see a bigger response because now the body's
actually doing what it needs to do to clamp down on the inflammation and to kind
of get the body back into homeostasis versus somebody who doesn't have that
problem. You're not going to see as big of a response because that person is not
dealing with oxidative stress to begin to begin with.
Now, the difference is the person who doesn't have the oxidative stress, they're
going to have more of us just a steady flow, meaning that since they don't have
oxidative stress, so they're not dealing with a lot of oxidative stress, you're not
to see a big spike. Right.
So they're more going to be on a maintain, you know, a dosage that maintains their,
you know, their health versus a person who has the problem.
They're going to need, you know, they may need a bigger dose, right?
Dose response, that type of thing.
And you're going to see more of a benefit in those folks.
So that would make sense in that.
But this is good news for vitamin B3.
And again, because it shows you how important the B vitamins is.
And a lot of people can be deficient, especially depending on their diets or the
medications that they're on.
Now, I'm sure a lot of people who are dealing with PAD are probably going to be
on some kind of medications and stuff like that for the most part.
Well, sometimes those medications can deplete the B vitamins.
They can deplete magnesium, deplete all different types of vitamins and minerals
and things that, you know, that are beneficial to your body.
So you got to keep these things in mind when you're taking medications.
So, but this was good.
It's a good study and it's a good start.
I'm hoping to see more studies like this, but at least this is positive in the
folks that are dealing with PAD and, you know, narrowing of these arteries
and having trouble walking.
So again, this is a good start.
This is where I recommend maybe getting on a good multivitamin that has good B
vitamins in it, that has the activated form of B vitamins, because this can get
you at least started in the process, again, filling those nutritional gaps and
maybe helping you in with those issues and supporting your health in that way.
So good stuff here.
And, um, so we're going to go from that and we're going to continue to our next
article in terms of B vitamins.
And this is from wellness resources, and this is the essential role of B vitamins
in blood sugar and kidney health.
So now we're going to get into, you know, uh, blood sugar metabolism, kidney
health, because obviously blood sugar metabolism and kidney health are related.
We see problems, you know, if you have blood sugar problems, a lot of times
you're going to have kidney problems.
So how can B vitamins help with these issues?
Let's talk about it.
So again, we know that B vitamins are essential for stress tolerance,
for energy, for adrenal health.
Okay.
No, those are the main things that we see nerve health, these types of things,
but also again, they're required for blood sugar regulation, kidney, uh,
kidney production, and much more.
So let's dive into it.
So we're going to go through each B vitamin and we're going to show you
exactly what it does, how it helps, you know, blood sugar metabolism and kidney
health.
So let's, let's, you know, go through them.
So the first one is vitamin B one, uh, vitamin B one.
I've talked about on this show before it's called thiamine and it's critical
for energy production, especially carbohydrate metabolism, but also without
optimal thiamine carbohydrates, uh, place an additional stress on blood
vessels, especially smaller capillaries and the endothelial lining of larger
vessels.
This is particularly true for the kidneys, which contain, uh, an extensive
capillary network and clusters of tiny blood vessels called glomeruli that
filter toxins and waste products 24 seven.
So you've got to remember you're, you're, you're constantly filtering 24
seven.
That's where these glomeruli really shine.
Okay.
And you also, there's, there's a blood test out there that is called the
glomerular filtration rates, right?
A glomerular filtration blood tests.
So you may get that when you go to your doctor and you get this blood panel.
Okay.
That's going to show you basically how well your kidneys are filtering.
And if you have an issue there, then you can tell that your kidneys are
not filtering well, right?
So again, this is what you and your doctor would work with in terms of
looking at that, but it's, it's a good, it's a good thing here that vitamin B
one is, is helping in this issue.
Also advanced glycation and products or ages, right?
Which is these, um, glycation and products and or oxidative stress that
happens when you are dealing with blood sugar issues.
Okay.
So in terms of ages, basically what happens with these advanced
glycation and products, they caramelize and they stiffen the blood
vessels, especially in the kidneys.
Again, this is where you have kidney problems in terms of blood sugar
regulation, this process impairs the ability to, for the kidneys to filter
the toxins and can lead to a buildup of lactic acid and increased fatigue.
Well, again, theamine helps to kind of mitigate that approach and have kind
of keeps your kidneys more in balance with that.
So vitamin B one, theamine or thiamine essential for, you know, keeping
the kidneys, um, regulation normal.
Then we have vitamin B two or riboflavin.
So vitamin B two supports antioxidant activity.
Animal studies show that riboflavin protects kidney structures, even when
under stress from high blood sugar.
Okay.
Riboflavin also supports glutathione, which is the master antioxidant
that helps with detoxification.
So optimizing riboflavin intakes, uh, helps to support the kidney health by
helping to, uh, manage protein, urea, and creatinine levels.
Okay.
So we know, again, when you get your kidney testing, they may
look at the creatinine levels.
They may look at the urea levels and even your protein levels.
Why?
Because again, these are secreted by the kidneys.
This is how much muscle and protein breakdown you're going to get throughout
the course of your day and stuff like that.
So these blood tests will show that how much is breaking down.
And again, riboflavin helps to support the glutathione again, which supports
the detoxification effect.
Okay.
So that's riboflavin next.
We're going to look at vitamin B three, which is niacin.
Now, uh, vitamin B three is metabolized into NAD.
Okay.
And other coenzyme forms of niacin.
Um, NAD is essential for, again, I've, I've, we just talked about it.
Mitochondrial energy production, getting your energy from food, especially with
high demanding organs like the kidneys.
Niacin is also used for cholesterol, lipid metabolism, and cardiovascular
health, which further supports capillary function within the kidneys.
Again, we're going back to the capillaries and the kidneys and making sure those
capillaries are working very well.
Okay.
Then we have vitamin B five, which is pantothene.
Now vitamin B five is the precursor to coenzyme A.
Okay.
And pantothene and coenzyme A help with the burnings of fat and
carbohydrates and amino acids.
So again, this is helping you with blood sugar metabolism and the
burning of fats and carbohydrates.
We talk about burning of brown fat, burning of white adipose tissue, which
turns into brown fat and beige fat.
And these types of things, I've talked about that before.
Vitamin B five is intimately involved in that helps you with blood sugar metabolism,
mitochondria metabolism, and, um, cholesterol metabolism as well.
Vitamin B six or paradox, vitamin B six is used throughout the body
for neurotransmitter function, lipid metabolism, and facilitating
many blood sugar functions.
Studies show that optimal vitamin B six levels help manage healthy
homocysteine and protect the endothelial linings of blood vessels
from oxidative stress in the kidneys.
Now we know if you have high homocysteine.
Okay.
Homocysteine is an inflammatory process.
Basically what that's showing is that there's inflammatory markers.
It could be all around your body.
If they're not finding it in different areas of your body, then pretty much is
going to come from somewhere in the heart, right?
But basically it's an inflammatory process.
So you, you don't want high homocysteine, not a good thing because that means that
could mean that your B vitamins are not recycling properly.
Maybe you're having an issue with, um, you know, with, uh, you know,
metabolizing your B vitamins.
Maybe you're not metabolizing them at all or effectively.
Maybe you have a mutation in the gene that can lead to high homocysteine levels.
Okay.
But it's good that vitamin B six helps again, protect your endothelial linings
of the blood vessels and the oxidative stress to the kidneys.
Vitamin B six is also necessary to metabolize oxo oxo oxalic acid.
Okay.
We know that, um, oxalates or oxalate crystals have been blamed in kidney and,
um, kidney stones and these types of things.
Well, vitamin B six helps to keep them healthy and helps to metabolize those
crystals, vitamin B seven or biotin.
Okay.
Now you all heard of biotin, obviously with the skin, hair, skin, and
nails, those types of things.
But also by supporting pancreatic function and blood sugar metabolism,
biotin promotes a glucose tolerance in the kidneys and other tissues.
Biotin also supports the kidneys processing of urea and other metabolic
proteins while providing antioxidant support in the kidneys glomeruli.
Then we have our old buddy vitamin B12 or methylcobalamin.
Vitamin B12.
We know is required for hundreds of different functions and
metabolic metabolic functions in your body, but specifically mitochondrial
function, homocysteine management, tissue oxygenation, and much, much
more plus nerve health, right?
Again, this is all part of blood sugar regulation.
You need all that to be working together to make sure that you're not, you know,
having any issues in the kidneys and everything's, you know, detoxifying
properly, then we have folate.
Folate is essential for glucose tolerance and insulin synthesis,
playing a significant role in kidney and pancreas health.
Folate along with B6 and B12 is required for the normal
metabolism of, again, of homocysteine.
Elevated homocysteine levels can cause scarring of the glomerular
cells, making it harder for the kidneys to filter the blood.
But again, this is where those tests come in to see whether you're detoxifying
and the kidneys are filtering properly.
Okay.
Again, folate is great for that.
So what are some of the medications that can deplete your B vitamins?
We've talked about them before.
Um, your bile acid sequestrants, your birth control
pills, your chemotherapy drugs, your uric acid, um, drugs.
Um, your, uh, methotrexate metformin for blood sugar metabolism,
proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, um, all these types of things.
And there's many more, but a lot of them, again, these are the big ones
that can basically, um, you know, wreak havoc on your B vitamins,
especially like the antibiotics.
Antibiotics are one of the big ones as well.
You have to remember that if they, um, if they interfere with your,
you know, metabolizing nutrients through the gut, right.
If they interfere with you, um, metabolizing through, let's say
the digestive track, whatever, not letting you metabolize at all.
Basically, you're going to have a problem.
You're not going to be able to metabolize those B vitamins, make
sure they get where they need to go.
And then you're going to start seeing deficiencies right over time.
So again, you, you really have to be careful if you're on these
and you know, any of these medications.
So as always, you know, we, we take a look at some of the, um,
supplements that you can take a look at.
If you want to look at wellness resources, supplements, of course, the
ones we always talk about on the show, you can take a look at super
coenzyme B complex, daily energy, multivitamin, daily prenatal
multivitamin, and super mini multi.
The super mini multi is for the kids.
Um, they're small, even though adults can take them to the daily, uh,
prenatal multivitamins, obviously for those, you know, for those who are
pregnant, women who are pregnant, who want to get those good B vitamins in
there, and then, you know, again, the daily energy multivitamin is what I
take every single day and the super coenzyme B complex all have the same
B vitamins in them, the same active forms of B vitamins.
And those are the ones that are key.
They're key.
They, again, those of you who have gene mutations that, you know, are not
allowing you to metabolize fully properly or B12 or whatever you should
be on the active forms of the B vitamins.
Those are the ones that, you know, that are essential.
Okay.
And they bypass that whole process in your body, making sure that you're
able to metabolize those properly and lower your homocysteine, lower
the inflammation in your body.
Okay.
So again, check out those supplements.
Um, the active forms of B vitamins is always the ones we recommend on this
very, very important stuff to take a look at, but at least we know now B
vitamins extremely important in the metabolism of blood sugar and keeping
your kidneys healthy aside from energy.
So if you really think about it, you have energy, your blood sugar metabolism,
you have nerve health, right?
You have a good kidney, healthy kidney function.
Okay.
And then we have detoxification.
I mean, that, I mean, that's, that's pretty much how, you know, more
than half of what your body does on a regular basis anyway, right.
And B vitamins are intimately involved with all of that.
So make sure you're getting your B's every single day.
And, uh, the form is critical on this.
Okay.
So good stuff on that.
And, um, just keep that in the back of your mind.
All right.
So now we're going to head to our nutrient spotlight for this week.
And we're going to be talking about keratin.
Okay.
And this is again from wellness resources, keratin, the key
to stronger, healthier hair.
So for those of you who don't know, I'll spell it out for you.
First of all, what is keratin?
You spell it K E R A T I N.
And you may have seen it again on a lot of commercials.
Talk about it, that it's in their hair products and stuff like that to keep
your health strong, you know, your hair strong and these types of things.
So let's talk about exactly what it is and what it does.
And, uh, what you should be looking out for great form of this.
Okay.
So keratin is a natural occurring protein that plays a key role with keeping your
hair structure strong throughout your life.
Okay.
And, um, you know, it just gives you kind of an overall healthy hair.
That's pretty much what its job is.
And again, as again, as you get older, your keratin starts to decrease, right?
We'll wear and tear daily wear and tear, obviously, you know, combing your hair,
blow drying your hair, doing all these things, all that stuff starts
to deplete the keratin over time.
So as levels drop, you'll start to see, you know, maybe a brittleness or
dullness or a thinning of your hair as you get older.
Okay.
So keratin is something we want to focus on.
So that's where keratin supplements kind of step in.
Okay.
So there is a new form or, or basically a, a, an advanced form of keratin that
wellness resources now is talking about, and they have it now in their new, um,
hair, skin, and nails supplement.
This form of keratin is called Cynotene.
That's C Y N A T I N E.
So that's Cynotene H N S.
And again, it's found in the hair, skin, and nail supplement for wellness resources.
Now, why does this make a difference?
Let's talk about it.
So Cynotene H N S is a patented bioactive form of keratin.
That stands out from the standard keratin due to its, uh, its soluble form, making
it very highly absorbable and effective.
And again, this is what differentiates wellness resources from a lot of other
companies, because again, they're obsessed with using the absorbable forms and they
make sure that it works well.
And again, in clinical settings, and then they put it in their products,
you know, for people to use.
So in clinical trials, Cynotene H N S has been shown to improve the strength of
appearance and appearance and health of hair, as well as skin and nails in a
relatively short time.
We'll continue.
Keratin is the primary structure of protein in the hair, forming a protective
outer layer known as the cuticle.
Now, when keratin levels are depleted, the cuticle becomes weak and damaged,
leaving hair vulnerable to breakage, split ends and dryness.
So what's some of the, uh, evidence for, uh, the Cynotene H N S form of keratin?
Well, there was a 90 day clinical trial of participants who took Cynotene daily.
They reported significant improvements in the quality of their hair compared to a
placebo group.
And they now, these improvements included better hair strength, less breakage,
and an increase in luster and overall appearance.
Now there was also additional benefits to skin and nails.
So while obviously healthy hair was a primary focus of Cynotene, but they also
notice that it extended to skin and nails as well.
There was another 90 day clinical trial involving women who took 500 milligrams
of Cynotene H N S daily, and they showed marketed improvements in skin moisture,
elasticity, and wrinkle reduction.
Participants experienced firmer hair, more youthful looking skin, along with an
overall enhancement in skin quality and appearance.
Okay.
So again, great studies on this.
So obviously the keratin and this form of keratin, which is the Cynotene really
showing very much improvements over the normal keratin.
So you have the normal keratin and then you have the Cynotene again,
which is absorbed very, very well, much better than the normal keratin that
we've seen in a lot of the products.
And again, this is why I talk about similar to the B vitamins, right?
You have cyanocobalamin and you have methylcobalamin.
Methylcobalamin is much better absorbed than the cyanocobalamin, right?
The cyanocobalamin form of B12, for example, is the cheaper version, which
a lot of vitamin companies use, but it's not really well absorbed.
Where there is, if you obviously, if you have a company that spends more money
and they get the methylcobalamin, which is the form of B12 that it's more, that
it's more bioavailable, it's the active form.
So your body doesn't have to detoxify you, but your body really
doesn't have to do anything to it.
It's the active form.
It's going to be better absorbed and better utilized.
So the Cynotene here is kind of the same type of process here.
It's better absorbed and the clinical trials and clinical
trials here are showing it.
So again, if you want to take a look at Cynotene for those of you who are
concerned of your hair, skin, and nails, you can look at the wellness
resources, hair, skin, and nail supplement.
It offers an effective solution for those looking for improved, uh, to
improve their hair resilience, their shine and overall vitality.
It contains 500 milligrams of Cynotene H and S per serving blended with
five other powerful nutrients.
Okay.
So again, hair, skin, and nails.
Um, you know, there's something to take a look at, especially as you're
getting older, or again, if you're on medications, you're depleting your
B vitamins and you know, obviously the keratins, the keratin is getting
less and less, you may start noticing these symptoms in your, uh, in your hair.
Take a look at this.
This is something you really want to, uh, you know, you want to take a look
at in terms of, you know, keeping yourself going, keeping your hair
shiny, keeping your hair, you know, in good shape as you get older.
That's what we want to do.
We want to grow old gracefully as much as we can.
And I, as I always say, and I've talked about it on this show before, you
could tell by what's going on inside, by the way, somebody looks outside,
whether it's their hair, their skin, and their nails specifically, you
can take a look at that and that'll give you kind of a clue to what's
going on inside on that person.
Okay.
Just a little tip there.
So good things to, you know, take a look at on this, but a B vitamins essential.
