what are the five best
supplements that you should always have
on
hand
okay so the first one is
my sorry George and I have a joke about
his Vitamin cstone vitamin C um I think
you should bring an intervenous bottle
with
you um no all right oh kidding aside um
so number one okay and this is where I
this is where I would start with anyone
in any condition doing anything is you
must have at least a good highquality
multivitamin multi-mineral supplement
okay and then that's going to cover a
good amount of bases uh for you okay
because that's going to give you your
your B vitamins vitamin C it's going to
give you selenium and and vitamin A and
all this so that's going to just kind of
cover pretty much all your Essentials
all right we all we all need vitamins
and minerals that's just part of what we
need and usually if you have a good
multivitamin um that'll at least give
you that remember it's an adjunct to
what you're eating so it's a supplement
to what you're eating okay so you
definitely need a multivitamin period I
would say you need that for the rest of
your life if if there was one thing to
take that would be it okay um so that's
number one um second thing and we if
we're going with let's say we're going
with top five okay second thing I would
take is I would add a vitamin D
supplement to that okay vitamin D now
vitamin D is responsible for I think
it's probably 2,000 to 3,000 enzyme
reactions in your body and vitamin D we
know that it boosts your immune system
we know that it's an immune system
modulator it really kind of gets it up
there to the high level but it does so
many other things that I can't there's
just too many to name but again if
you're traveling you're out there you're
traveling in the winter right you've got
um you've got you know whether it's
covid or flu and coals out there right
and you don't want to be caught let's
say you're going to be on stage and
you're you're feeling crappy right
you're feeling sick you don't want to be
on stage with a cold if you can help it
okay well vitamin D if you get that high
enough is going to help uh to alleviate
that Andor prevent that okay or
something that would have turned into a
flu may just have been a a small cold
but if you get the vitamin D high enough
so I would recommend a vitamin D
anywhere from 2,000 units to 5,000 units
depending on how big of a person you are
yes body weight makes a difference okay
so the if you're heavier person you're
going to need more vitamin D so let's
just say you take 4,000 units you know
sometimes that come in just that pill I
would take that every single day you can
take that with your multibind and you
take that with I'm sorry I would need
just 20 units
in little
dropper um yeah so I would I would I
would take that and I would and by the
way any supplements that I talk about I
I would take them with the meal okay um
but yeah vitamin D is extremely
important because it's really going to
help you get through the winter time and
all that stuff that's going on
especially again if you're on tour and
with crowds and with people and all that
type of stuff okay um number three would
be a good fish oil supplement or
omega-3 okay now the reason for that is
and again keep in mind that the Omega-3
supplements or fish oil um is something
is essential it's called the essential
fatty acid okay it's essential because
your body needs it the body cannot make
it so you have have to take it in and if
you're not taking it in you're you're
you know there's all kinds of stuff that
can happen now just so you know the
reason why that's that helps is because
you're again you're on the road you're
out there you're dealing with constant
stress you're dealing with physical
chemical and emotional stress right it
could be from gear it could be from the
crowds it could be from playing it could
be from not sleeping right sleeping on a
bus or whatever the case may be well
that's actually going to raise cortisol
that's actually gonna raise inflammation
because again it's a lot of stress
happening on the body night after night
after night okay so what fish oil is
going to do the Omega is are going to do
is going to kind of bring down any any
and all inflammation that you're dealing
with okay it's going to kind of keep it
down number one and number two your your
cells your cells your all your cells are
actually made of fat okay and the the
the omegas actually help coat your cells
and make them pliable they make them
work better and you have these little
things that the these little things on
top of the cells called receptors so
anytime let's say you're getting
nutrients in the fish oil makes the
receptor more pliable therefore it can
take whatever it is and turn and bring
it into the cell so if you don't have
enough of the omegas this the receptor
gets stiff and it doesn't work properly
so you don't get the nutrients in okay
so fish oil is very important for that
for the brain as well for Focus fish oil
is very good for focus it gives um and
it it is a little bit of a blood thinner
okay but it gets the blood to your brain
and uh it can help you focus any anyone
on any kind of blood thinners by the way
just keep that in mind make sure if
you're going to do that you talk to your
doctor first to make sure it's safe for
you to take a fish oil supplement
because it is again going to thin the
blood if you get the dose high enough
okay fish oil very very important it
also makes something called
prostaglandins again that helps to
squash the uh inflammation so that's
number three number four I would say uh
a some kind of probiotic supplement okay
now we have an epidemic of gut problems
in
society and that is a I mean it's I I
would say probably more than 50% of of
the diseases that we are dealing with
today um are due to gut problems it
could be uh an over growth of candida in
the gut it can be disbiosis it can be a
Le what's called a leaky gut okay that's
when your gut the the the barrier of
your gut gets kind of penetrated because
it becomes weak and you get leaky
proteins that actually go through into
your bloodstream so what ends up
happening is your body thinks it's a
foreign protein and attacks it and then
this is where you can start to get
autoimmune problems and I would say that
a good majority of autoimmune problems
like lupus or like um rheumatoid
arthritis those types of things are
started from a leaky gut so probiotics
what they're going to do is they're
going to recolonize your gut they're
going to make your gut barrier um you
know tighter they're going to give you
good bacteria and they're going to help
you with digestion okay if you have any
digestive problems or whatever so you
that that's the only one that you take
on an empty stomach first thing before
your meal okay because this way it gets
it goes all the way through into the gut
and does whatever it needs to do before
the food actually gets in there so but
that's going to help clean up so if you
have any kind of gas and bloating after
you eat again on the road you're feeling
you know horrible sluggish after you eat
and you or you've just been going on the
road with any kind of you know those
kind of problems definitely take some
kind of probiotic with you and take that
in um it's absolutely fantastic to do
that and number five I'm going to throw
this in there because it's just one of
my favorite things to take um it's an
it's a supplement called co-enzyme
Q10 and why coenzyme coenzyme I you
could just put
CoQ10 okay coqen they call it also the
reason why this one is very very
important is because coenzyme Q10 it's
made in the liver okay your body makes
it in the liver it's the same pathway
that is actually made um uh the same
pathway that is made with cholesterol
okay so if somebody's on a Statin drug
for example and they st stop their
cholesterol being made it also stops
your CoQ10 being made so just keep that
in mind if you're on a a Statin drug
that's why a lot of doctors actually put
people on CoQ10 if they put them on a
stat but what CoQ10 does is it goes
through what's called an electron
transfer chain in your body so you know
your body is made of electrons right
that's what gives you your energy right
that's basic you know high school
biology so it goes through this electron
transfer chain it actually gives your
your cells energy so your cells have
what's called um
mitochondria inside your cells except
for your red blood cells you have what's
called mitochondria like little cell
engines that's what gives you your
energy those cell engines okay if those
cell engines are not working properly
you're going to feel tired you're going
to feel sluggish you're going to feel
you know just not right bringing fog all
these types of things but what co-enzyme
Q10 does it actually helps to create
what's called ATP which is the helps
your mitochondria make energy okay helps
oil your cell goes into your muscles but
what one of the big things it does it
goes into your heart muscle and it makes
your heart muscle not only beat it gives
your heart muscle the energy to beat but
it also gives it the energy to beat in
rhythm in the proper Rhythm as well okay
some of that
yeah it's really really it's really
really good um it's it's and this
there's huge stud I mean literally this
is one of the only supplements actually
with fish oil that is actually like that
mainstream actually says is a good thing
to take okay it's one of the few yes
it's one of the few things that that
they say and again I think part of the
reason is because of the Statin thing
because because they what ends up
happening is and again if you're a
musician and you're on a Statin or or
you're on some kind of medication keep
in mind that medications do deplete a
lot of that stuff that's why it's
important to take some of that stuff in
that's proba why they put it okay yeah
it's a depletion of that longer but part
of the problem is let's say you let's
say you're on a Statin drug you stop
your your cholesterol to being made of
course you're stopping your CoQ10 being
made well your your heart over a long
period of time is not getting enough
CoQ10 what's going to happen it's going
to start to weaken that's why one of the
side effects of statin drugs and again
this is science you can look all this up
one of the side effects is actually a
weakening of the heart because there's
no CoQ10 there giving it the energy to
do what it needs to do okay wow so so Co
so yeah so co-enzyme Q10 extremely and
it's going to help you with your energy
so the multivitamin the CoQ10 and the
vitamin D are going to be really all
good for bringing up the ATP and the
energy and then the fish oil and the
probiotics are going to be for clamping
down on the um on the uh inflammation
and keeping your system in good check
and that type of thing so those are my
five recommendations
