Trade rumors are escalating for the New England Patriots as after an 0-1 start and an injury to AJ
Brown, rumors are starting to come across the screen about Patriots trade names and a past trade
that the Patriots made that are starting to spark concern for, you know, why they did that and maybe
coming back to haunt them here as we go into week number two of the NFL season. Welcome to Patriots
Digest, everybody. A little bit of a late night edition here. Got some stuff going today, but
we'll have a video out tonight. And if you're watching this on Sunday morning, we're gonna
have a video out today as well as we get through NFL week one. And of course, we'll have Monday
football. Then week two starts Patriots start preparing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But I
wanted to get a video out here talking about some interesting trade rumors that have been going
across and multiple different facets. Obviously, you do know about the biggest thing with AJ Brown
being on the injured reserve that has obviously started to spark some questions about a former
Patriot that is now in the Houston Texans and a trade that happened very recently that, you know,
maybe hindsight's 2020 now on whether or not you should have actually moved him.
You can never exactly know when an injury is going to happen, especially of injury of this
magnitude to this player. But obviously, the hope is that AJ Brown can get healthy and recover as
quick as humanly possible. But that being said, there obviously is going to be some questions
moving forward about, you know, what exactly does this wide receiver room look like and how
do you move forward without AJ Brown? So obviously, you've got Kyle Williams,
Romeo Diamonds, Matt Collins, Pop Douglas and after Chisholm Chisholm was inactive on Wednesday's
game. So my bet is he's just probably going to be added to the roster for week number two. But
we'll have to wait and see. Obviously, you know, it kind of out of the roster actually playing week
two, but we'll have to wait and see. Now, speaking of NFL week one, you can still trade on Cal sheet
for all the games on Sunday and on Monday. I'm going with the Sunday night football game where
the Cowboys will take on the New York Giants. I think the Cowboys are going to win this one.
Their defense kind of looks more improved. And I'm just I don't know, I'm not a big Jackson
Dart fan, especially the way we played the New York Giants last year, even though, you know,
maybe their their team wasn't as good, whatever. I'm taking the Dallas Cowboys $25 and then we'll
get you $39 and 88 cents back on Cal sheet. You're trading directly against other users,
not the house like a traditional sports book. You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcome
of events across sports, politics, or even the weather. Now you can trade on the Cowboys to win
and trade on, you know, potential players to score touchdowns. You can turn on the Cowboys
wouldn't buy a certain amount of change on the Giants to win by a certain way you can turn on
the Giants to lose even. Now, if you're interested in trying out Cal sheet, you can use the link
in the description. And when you do make sure you use this code digest NFL. That way you get $25
added to your account instantly. It'll also be on the pinned comment. If you'd like to do it
that way. So I appreciate Cal sheet for being the presenting sponsor here on Patriots digest.
So wanted to get the first rumor out about, you know, trade talks in the wide receiver room.
The questions are coming in about Keishon booty. And ultimately there's nothing really that has
been said by the Patriots that have things they have not said. They regret it. Obviously,
they're not going to say that, but they haven't said anything about it. But one thing that did
come out is very interesting about Matt Collins. You see, we all knew about Keishon booty,
the potential trade rumors that surrounded him, but apparently the Patriots also got calls about
Matt Collins, but the Patriots, they didn't want to trade him whatsoever, which the way that,
you know, Drake man and Matt Collins looked in week. Number one, you kind of understand why
now Aberbeer went into a whole different thing. So I'm gonna pop the quote on the screen for you
here and we can read through it saying, quote, I had a team call me asking if the Patriots would
trade Hollins. This was like four or five weeks ago. And I brought up Keishon booty and they were
like, no, we would rather have Matt Collins. That team was a contender and you'd respect them. If
you knew who it was, the Patriots didn't want to trade them. Now, part of that is the special
team's value, which is a big thing. A team called me then called the Patriots. Sometimes this
happens where a team will call me and ask, Hey, have you heard of this player's available? Which
Whatever. I don't really, I don't care to comment on that part, but either way,
it seems as though a team had called about the Patriots, you know, Matt Collins and said, Hey,
I want to do this. And Patriots said, no, we'd rather trade Keishon booty, which like credit
for credit is due. Matt Collins and Keishon booty had very similar statistics last year. I think
they were off by a couple of yards. And I mean, I think the touchdowns were in favor of Keishon,
but really they were like pretty cut and dry, similar players. Now, Matt Collins is obviously
quite a bit older. He's in this 10th season, the NFL wall Keishon's and what is fifth, fourth,
whatever it is. So, you know, you're not, not getting that experience value that you are getting
in Matt Collins. But, um, I did think that was very interesting. And of course it was solidified
in week one. We saw Matt Collins be the top target for Drake may. And, um, well also being the guy
that he wanted to throw the ball to at the end of the game, whether or not, you know, he was trying
to force it or not. I don't know what I'm going to talk about. I move on from now on, but whatever
he was still the dad that, that, that, that was, you know, very much the top thing for Drake man,
the safety valve come at late time in that game. Now this is the, the, the big trimmer,
the trade rumor that was going around with new Patriots. And obviously, um, you know,
it's not like they're going to revisit that in this situation, especially after they traded
Keishon booty. But what was interesting is, um, bleacher report, obviously every week is going
through, you know, the NFL trade, big boredom labeling targets for each team. I thought this
was interesting because, um, you know, it was on the day of game one. So they didn't know exactly
what happened in the game. And, you know, that AJ Brown was going to be hurt. So of course,
I think it'll be interesting to see what the trade week, uh, trade big board looks like entering
week two, if there's a, there's a wide receiver on half the Patriots, you know, maybe are in line
for that wide receiver. However, the Patriots being what they are being the cerebral contender
that everybody still believes them to be. And I fully believe them to be, there is a couple of
names that were listed as potential options for the New England Patriots. And of course we, uh,
we've talked about these names a couple of times, but I figured it'd be interesting to bring them
back up and just kind of break down what we've seen since maybe those trade rumors originally
popped up. The first guy is somebody who actually talked about recently on the channel and is
actually one of the top guys on the trade market right now. In fact, they list him as the number
one guy and that's Kayvon Thibodeau, the edge rusher out of the New York giants. Again, the
team will be playing tomorrow night against the Cowboys. I think it's interesting because
the edge rushing room actually looks pretty solid with Draymond Jones on it. I don't know that I'm
sold on the edge rushing room like that. That's something that's there. Obviously these are the
interior defensive linemen. I have defensive edge, but in all actuality, it's the outside linebackers
that are the quote unquote edge rushers. So in that case, you have Elijah Ponder, you have Draymond
Jones, Gabe Ackes looked really, really good. So I think for now you have Jones and Ackes on either
side. Maybe you try and push for an edge rusher, but I do think it is interesting to talk about
that. And as for Thibodeau, he's a guy who definitely is somebody that I would be intrigued
upon. Former top 10 pick, top three pick, wasn't he? Top five pick, whatever it is. We can talk
about that, whatever. But 10 games last year, only had two and a half sacks, but obviously the history
precedes himself with the total sack numbers he had in prior years. Of course, you go back to his
big 2023 campaign, which he had 11 and a half sacks. I do think it's interesting when you look
at Kayvon Thibodeau and the lack of production over the past two years, and also the lack of
available. It's 14 games in 22, ended up only at four sacks, then played all 17, had 11 and a half,
then 12, had five and 50, and then 10 and 250. So it almost seems like when he's out there and
feeling healthy, it's like a snowball effect where he gets better and better. So again,
we don't know what's going to happen with him this season. This is the final year of his contract.
So the Patriots were a trade for him. I bet you the Giants would want a pretty decent package,
and the Patriots would want something that would make them feel comfortable about him
potentially extending. And of course, you don't know what exactly your edge rusher room looks
with him. But I think that was interesting, the number one target, and he was immediately linked
to the New England Patriots, which, fair enough. The one other guy that has linked the Patriots
that I'm kind of iffy on whether or not anybody is going to trade for this guy and if their team
is going to trade him. But ultimately, you do have Max Grosby as a potential option. He was listed
as the, I want to say, the top guy for most of the offseason, even with the miscalculated trade,
I guess you could say, to the Baltimore Ravens. But I think it's interesting when you talk about
Max Grosby in this season because people are saying that maybe he's traded and the readers
might explore that again. I don't know if they will, personally. That's just my take. I think
they're like, you know what? That was our sign. We're going to keep him. But if he does come
available, obviously the Patriots are going to be in. He said he loved playing or would love to
during Super Bowl week last week. So we know there's a connection there. 15 games, 10 sacks.
And I do think that he would be a very valuable addition. And I don't think that's not really
anything crazy to say. But obviously, once the season started trading, we're starting to go
rampant. So we'll see if any of these things actually end up happening. But let me know what
you think down in the comments section about all of the rumors flying around the New England
Patriots. Of course, week one kind of getting fully underway tomorrow. So we'll see you tomorrow
with another video. And of course, we'll see you on Monday and throughout the week as we get ready
for the Steelers and the Patriots to get on home and get some hopeful wind alongside it.
So we appreciate you watching. See you next time.
