NORDSTROM TRUNK CLUB REVIEW & TRY ON // HILLARY ALEX //

Today's video we are featuring Nordstrom's service called Trunk Club, which is a Nordstrom membership program. So Trunk Club is a way to get fully curated looks sent straight to your door. That way you can try them on before buying, which is super cool. The box comes like this, so it literally is a big trunk full of clothes, and I'll show you guys the whole process of how you sign up. You answer like a simple survey going through, which helps find out like your particular style. So everything that's getting sent to you is completely 100% your style and stuff that you would normally wear and pick out on your own. So the survey that you do before you sign up is a full like in-depth process to help figure out like what's your buy, what's your style, all that jazz, and then you get all these cute clothes sent straight to your door, which I think is the most convenient thing ever. So I love that the boxes are curated with you in mind to completely fit your personal needs, your style preferences, and everything, and you're not obligated to keep everything that comes in your box. Like I said, you get to try everything on, and you can decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back. I talked about this in my last video, but I'm a mom of a young toddler, so I never get to go shopping for myself. I feel like I live in active wear because I'm just working out all the time, and I'm just in leggings and a sports bra like all the time, and that's my wardrobe. And then all of my wardrobes that I do have right now is like spring, summer outfits. So I wanted to use Trunk Club to revamp my wardrobe, like transitioning into winter. So all of the pieces that I got in my box are good transitional pieces into colder weather. So I do live in Southern California. It never gets super, super cold here. It has been really cold this past week, but usually it's not this cold. Our winters are very mild, but it still gets cold. So I wanted good pieces that I could layer, that I can mix and match, and that I can just have as staple pieces in my closet to pull whenever I am going out, and I don't want to be in active wear. So just because I'm a mom doesn't mean that I can't be trendy. I can't be cute. So this completely allows me to stay on top of the trends, find pieces that fit me in my size, my budget, all of that, and not have to do the effort to go look and find them. It's sent straight to my door, and I get to try them on here at home in the comfort of my own home, and then pick what I like, and then send whatever I don't like back. It's a super effortless way to ramp up your wardrobe, feel confident, feel stylish, and do it with minimal effort and such ease. So like I said, I'll show you guys the whole process of what it looks like to sign up, and then go through the process of receiving your trunk, and the stylist is just on point. She picked out the most cutest pieces for me to transition into winter, and you could mix and match them in so many different ways, and she also shows you how to style the pieces exactly, like gives you different ideas of how to style each thing. So this whole membership is just so lovely, and you're not committed to be receiving these trunks every single month. So when you sign up, you're putting in your information about your style, your sizes, your budget, so all the stuff that's being sent to your door, it's no surprises with the price tag, you're not being sent things that you can't afford. It's all stuff that works within your budget, and there's absolutely no pressure to keep everything that comes in your box. Okay, so I want to show you guys, when you sign up for Trunk Club, you go through an extensive little questionnaire that will dial down everything to your style preferences, so that gives your stylist a better idea of what you like, what you don't like, your sizes, everything, it's super in-depth. So it will go through your style, and you get to pick all of the ones that apply to you. So I did athletic, boho, casual, edgy, minimalist, lifestyle, and vintage-inspired, so you can click anything that applies to you. So then you would go to colors, and you would pick all the colors that you dislike wearing, so that way they're not sending you any clothing in these colors that you normally wouldn't wear on a day-to-day basis. And then patterns that you wouldn't normally wear, I did floral and paisley, I would never wear those. You can click materials that you normally wouldn't wear on your body, or that you're allergic to. How do you prefer your tops to fit? I put loose. What style of jeans do you prefer to wear? Boyfriend. You can pick low-rise, you can pick high-rise, you can go super in-depth there as well. What style of dresses do you prefer to wear? I normally don't wear dresses, so I just put I don't know. What style of shoes do you prefer? I put booties, sneakers, and boots. You can do heels, you can do sandals, you can do flats, whatever applies to what you wear on a day-to-day. And then you can go through, and they give you a ton of brands to choose, and you can pick some of your favorite ones. And then how do you dress on a typical weekday? I put lounge athletic, because hello, I live in athletic wear. It asks for your age range, so and then here it says do you experience any of these common fit challenges? So I just checked tall, long arms, long torso, and long legs. I think that just better gives them an idea of your body type specifically. So all of these style preferences just really help the stylist to narrow down all of your likes, your dislikes, your sizing, like everything down to a complete T. Make it very specific, and that way they're sending you stuff that's true to your personal style. Okay, so I want to show you guys after you set up your Nordstrom Trunk Club app, you can go into this little tab down here that says my style, and you can do wardrobe. So you can add pictures of your wardrobe in here. View suggested outfits. So then view suggested outfits. Once you set up your app, a stylist will set up suggested outfits to go in your trunk, if that's a route that you're willing to take. That way you can preview outfits that they picked out before sending out your box. You can do style swipes on here. So anything that you don't like, you can swipe to the left. Anything that you do like, you can swipe to the right. That's giving your stylist an idea of stuff that you would wear, stuff that you wouldn't wear. So now when I open my app, my trunk preview is ready. So the stylist picked out key items that she thought I would like based off of everything that I filled out. And this preview is available till December 9th at 4.02 PM to go through. So she went through and picked out specifics that she thought I would like, and there's notes on every single thing as to why she picked them out and how to style them. So this one said, I saw you swiped like on these reviews, absolutely rave over them. So trendy and sucks you in, in all the right places. A-goldy sizing can be tricky, but I went true to size. And then it says here, the vest will add some warmth here without being too steamy. This look is so easy to recreate over and over with different jeans and tops. And then she shows different variations down here with more notes of how to switch it up and what to pair it with. So those are those jeans and then these. And then she has a little note about this, girl, you cannot have enough straight leg right now. They're everywhere. Mother is my absolute favorite denim. They're perfect level of stretch and flatters your booty. 100% worth trying on. And then again, put together different outfits of ways to style the jeans with notes on each one. And then here's the vest, same thing. There's notes in here about why she chose the vest, ways to style it, which is so cool because if I were to see this vest like on my own, I don't think I would have picked it out. But now seeing it paired the way that she has it, I would totally wear this. And I think it's so cute. And then this jacket is really, really cute. It's a cropped like fur trim jacket. So here's different ways to style this jacket. I wanted transitional fall pieces. So this is perfect. All of these are good transitional fall pieces to keep in my wardrobe collection where I'm not going to be like super, super warm. It's just like lightweight, versatile. I can layer it if I want to. This plaid jacket is so adorable. Again, showing me different ways I can style it. These boots, everything she picked is like spot on. Like I'll probably keep everything, literally keeping everything. So cute. These boots, this beanie, the mama necklace. Don't mind Matt playing the harmonica in the background. Again, shows different ways to style. I literally love everything that she picked. Every single style suggestion is spot on. Like this is so helpful. I love that like all these outfits were just curated for me, like I said, and I don't even have to think about it. Okay, so I'm going to go through and show you guys everything that was sent in my box. So let's just get right into it and show you guys all the pieces. Okay, so here's the first items. The first one being like this wool jacket, which is so cute and so versatile. You can use this in so many different ways. You can layer this with sweatshirts underneath if you want to do it how I do it with just a little tank top on if it's warmer where you are. You can totally do so many different things with this. And then second thing being these mom jeans. These are from the brand Mother and this is a size 25. So this fits me in my opinion perfectly. I like my jeans to be a little bit bigger. I don't like them to feel super, super snug to where it's really uncomfortable. So I feel like these are the perfect fit. So it's that typical mom fit where it is loose. And then the back fits really well. And then I just styled it with these boots, which she also sent. This is from the brand Sarto, I believe. So these also fit really well. And again, this color can go with so many different outfits and be styled a million different ways. So I think this is a really cute, basic outfit. Okay, so another piece she sent is this brown long sleeve turtleneck, which is so cute and so flattering. This can go with so many different looks. And I'll show you different ways to style it and how to layer different pieces. And then I just switched out the boots to these Blondo boots, which are these cute little black boots with a little buckle detail on the side. And then they have a tiny little heel, but it's a chunky heel. So it's super comfortable. These are also waterproof. So if you live somewhere where it rains all the time, these are perfect boot to have to wear in like all weather situations. So I also love the look of a super fitted piece on top and then something more loose and baggy on the bottom. I think it's just super flattering to the body. Okay, so I'm going to show you a few other pieces and how to layer this and change up the outfit just a bit. So she also sent this vest, which is so cute. This is just by the Nordstrom brand. And this could go with so many different things as well, which I love about it. So it's super soft, so comfortable, perfect length. And this will just add a little bit of warm if it's a little cold outside and you need to throw something over. So this vest is amazing. I love it. And what I love about the service is that she already knew that this bodysuit ran small, so she sized up for me. And then she knew the boots ran small, so she sized up a half size for me as well. So these are all things that I wouldn't have known on my own, and then it would have came to me and it would have been the complete wrong size. So I think that's just another really good perk of the service. So I love this vest. I'm definitely going to be keeping this because I love how versatile it is. Here's another option. And another item that she sent was this jacket. This is from the brand BP, which is also very trendy right now. This little cropped jacket look is very on trend, and it is so warm, so incredibly soft. So again, really good layering piece to throw over something like this if you're going out at night and need something warm. So this is a really cute little outfit as well. I'll show you guys up close what the jacket looks like. It's stunning. So I think I'm going to keep this jacket. I really love it. I think it's so cute, and I'll definitely get a lot of wear out of this. Okay. And another thing that was sent was this beanie from All Saints, which is so cute. It's like a chunky knit beanie with the All Saints little logo on the front. So this could also be styled if it is colder. Throw on a beanie, keep your head warm. And I love how it's black, and it ties into the black on the boots. So this is also a really cute outfit, and I'm definitely going to keep this beanie as well. Okay. Next are these leggings from Zella. They're just basic black leggings. I've never owned a pair of Zella leggings before. I've heard wonderful things about them, but these are my first pair. They're so cute, so flattering, and very, very super soft. So I just styled this with the same bodysuit and the same blondo black boots and the beanie. And then again, you could pop on this vest and make it warmer. And it's just like interchanging all the pieces and styling them in different ways. Getting a ton of use out of every single item and being able to mix and match is so key. That's how you can create such a good staple wardrobe, is just having good basic pieces that you can mix and match. Next are these joggers from Aloe, which are so cute. They're like a very pretty heather gray, and then the material is ribbed, so they're super thick, very warm. I just paired it with this bodysuit again. Beanie, throw on some sneakers, even layer on that vest, and that's a good like running errands look, so you still look very cute and trendy, but you don't look like a bum. So again, you could just easily pop on this vest and you're good to go. With like some Air Force Ones, I think that would be a really good outfit. And then also I wanted to show you guys this little gold mama necklace was sent to me as well in the trunk club. So this is just a really good like dainty piece of jewelry. Jewelry can add so much to an outfit. Like if you want to wear something very basic, but you start to add some layering pieces with jewelry, throw on some little basic hoops, and that will just elevate your outfit even more. So it takes something basic and just dresses it a little bit. So I love that. I think it's a really simple, cute way to incorporate something into your wardrobe. And then you could also layer this with this wool jacket as well. So this would also be a really cute outfit. Again, mixing and matching. Okay, next is this little black sweater from Barley. I love the brand Barley. I think they just nail it every single time. So it has like the ribbed detailing from here to here on both arms. And then it's also ribbed right here all the way up to the turtleneck. And then it has a little drawstring right here if you wanted to cinch it in a little bit. So I think this is also another great piece to have. Like if you go to the gym or you work out or you just want to wear leggings and like go to the grocery store, but you don't want to wear like a basic sweater. This is something that would be really good for that. And then you could also layer with this as well with the vest with that little jacket. Okay, I really wanted these to work out you guys. These are super trendy. You guys have probably seen these all over Instagram. These are the infamous A. Goldie crisscross jeans where it kind of tapers down and buttons like off to the side. But these are clearly too big. Like hello. Too big and super baggy. And I know they're supposed to be a loose fit kind of vibe. And they are supposed to be a little bit more low-waisted. But this is just like not doing it for me. These are a bigger size than my normal size. They're 26, but I think these run really big anyways. I think you would have to size extremely down in these for them to fit you properly. So unfortunately these are a no for me and these are going back. I really did want to love these ones, but they are not working. They're just very, very baggy. So this was like the only thing that didn't end up fitting or working. So I think one out of every single item that was sent to me to not work is pretty damn good. So yeah, these are a no. I'm gonna get dressed. I'll come back and talk to you guys. Alright guys, that is everything that came in my trunk. I loved literally everything. So bummed about those A. Goldie jeans, but I could also send them back and get my correct size. I'm gonna size down and see if that ends up working out for me. But honestly, everything I loved and I feel like I want to keep everything. But for the jeans and sending them back or if I don't end up wanting to keep everything, it's such an easy process to send everything back. You just put everything back inside the trunk and then it comes with a shipping label that you can put on and send it right on back. Or if you don't even have time to go drop it off somewhere, you can just schedule a pickup and somebody will come and pick it up for you. So they make it as easy as possible. Such a seamless process. It does come with a little card on the inside and it tells you every single piece that's inside your trunk, the price of everything down the side, the sizing. And honestly, everything is very affordable besides the pairs of jeans and that barley jacket. Everything else is very, very affordable. So I love that all of the pieces were picked with like a budget in mind and not super high price tag and something just like unfeasible that I wouldn't be able to actually purchase. So yeah, this membership is convenient for all kinds of people, especially for someone like me. Like I said a million times, who's a mom, super busy. I don't have time to go shopping and pick out pieces and hope that it ends up working out. This is just made easy for me, picked out by professional stylists with all of my likes in mind. And you get to try on in the comfort of your own home and effortlessly send back anything that doesn't end up working for you. I also really appreciate how all of the items were like neutral, good pieces that I was able to mix and match and create different looks with, which really allows you to just have a few good pieces in your closet and really maximize the use out of them. It's a good way to get those warmer pieces in my wardrobe and elevate my style, make me feel confident and beautiful going into 2022.
