But that's like an old wives tale, and I think those old wives tales are honestly a crock
of ----.
What's up guys, welcome back to my channel, Hilary Alex here, if you are new, if you are
returning, thank you so much for watching.
Today is Friday the 10th, it is like 12 o'clock in the afternoon.
I just got back from my 39 week appointment, and he did a cervical check to see how I'm
progressing, and I am so discouraged.
If you guys follow me on Instagram, I'm way more active over there than I am on YouTube,
so I update you guys all the time, but every time I've been going to the doctor, I haven't
been progressing whatsoever.
My cervix has been closed and hard, and there's just nothing going on.
So last week at my 38 week appointment, since I was closed and my cervix was still hard,
he went in and did the cervical check and just kind of did a sweep, not a membrane sweep
because he can't get in there yet, but he did a sweep around the area and just kind
of irritated it as best as he could to see if that could help progress anything.
And all that happened was I spotted for a few days and I had like mild cramping and
that was it.
So come today at the 39 week appointment, I thought for sure that maybe something had
happened, maybe I had progressed, and everything is basically the same.
I am like one centimeter dilated now, but still that's it, that's all that's going on.
And for some reason I'm just so discouraged, and I know that these cervical checks make
people so discouraged and they really mean absolutely nothing because it can happen like
that, but for me, I'm just solely focusing on what I'm at right now and that I'm going
to be pregnant forever.
That's exactly how I feel, like the thought of going on for two more weeks makes me want
to die.
My due date is January 15th, so next Wednesday is my due date, and my next doctor's appointment
is next Friday, which is a few days after my due date because that's the only time my
doctor is in.
So the doctor said that Friday when I go in for my appointment, if I'm still pregnant,
which I probably will be, they're going to hook me up to like a non-stress test and put
me on the monitors and just make sure that baby's doing okay.
And then from there we're going to schedule my induction, so unless anything happens from
now until then, that's the plan.
I really did not want to be induced, I wanted to go into labor naturally, but if that's
the plan and that's the way that things go, I guess I'll just accept it, but I'm just
really discouraged and it took like everything in me not to break down and cry and be super
traumatic when I left the doctor's appointment, and I'm still like trying really hard to not
let it affect me and my day.
I'm doing all the things that are suggested to get my body to progress.
I've been bouncing on my exercise ball, I've been doing deep squats, and like I don't do
squats like ever, so the fact that I'm squatting okay is something new.
I'm walking a ton, I try to like hardly ever like sit down and lay down.
If I am sitting, I try to be bouncing on the ball, I try not to lay down until I go to
bed, because I know that laying down is just not gonna get the baby to drop and like get
ready for anything, so I try to like stay as active as possible, and everybody's telling
me like rest, rest, rest, and like I'm just not a rest person, like I can't just like
chill out and like lay down, put my feet up and rest, like that's never been me, like
I know it's gonna be chaotic when the baby gets here, but like so what, I thrive on chaos,
and I just like can't sit down and relax and do nothing with my life just because I'm pregnant,
like I just, that's not me.
So I'm trying to stay as active as possible, like cleaning as much, cooking, baking, laundry,
doing all the things to just stay super busy on my feet and get things going.
I feel like I'm just done, I'm so done.
Like nobody prepares you for the last weeks of pregnancy, it's just really, really brutal.
So that's what's going on, that's the update for 39 weeks, we're just gonna wait and see
what happens.
Tomorrow, I'm actually going with Matt's nieces to this restaurant in LA that's like famous
for their salad that's supposed to help induce labor.
It's called like the salad on the menu, but people call it like the labor salad, and like
a bunch of celebrities have gone there and eaten this salad specifically when they are
close to their due date, and it's supposed to help induce labor.
It's not necessarily like the salad itself, I guess it's the dressing.
We're gonna go to lunch there tomorrow, I'm gonna eat this salad, and we'll see what happens.
It's also a full moon tonight, so weird stuff happens on full moons, that's like an old
wives tale, and I think those old wives tales are honestly a crock of ----.
So full moon tonight, we got the labor salad tomorrow, and we'll just see.
Sorry this has been like long and drawn out, I just wanted to like sit down and update
you guys on what's going on.
I just wanted to come in and film this for you guys real quick, let my phone charge a
bit, and then I'm gonna head out.
I'll film this tomorrow when we go and get the labor salad and turn this into like a
little vlog for you guys.
I heated up my coffee like right when I got home and set it down there and I literally
have not touched it since I sat down, so it's probably cold again and I probably need to
reheat it.
Why I'm this way I have no idea, I always end up making my coffee and reheating it like
at least 10 times before I actually finish it.
Also I went to the office today and picked up this package that they had there for me,
and Tara had sent me and Indy a Christmas gift, and it never came because she put the
wrong address, because Matt gave her the wrong address.
So she re-sent it, which was these Adidas shoes and the Baby Brezza formula maker.
So I had already gotten it, so when I picked up this package I had no idea what it was
and I opened it up and it's the freaking Baby Brezza and another pair of Adidas shoes.
I texted her, I was like, yo, what do you want me to do with this, I already got the
gift, so now I have two extra right here that I have no idea what I'm gonna do with.
But these Adidas shoes that she got me are the most comfortable things I've ever put
my feet in.
They're memory foam and they're just so freaking comfortable.
And I got my nails done, and I've been loving the natural colors that I've been getting.
And I had them super long, they were natural and long, the dip powder that I was getting
was making them grow long and strong and they weren't breaking or anything, but I just went
like a few days ago and I had them cut down my nails because I figured baby's coming soon
and long nails is just not gonna be it, like I don't want to accidentally scratch her or
get any nasty poop under my nails or anything like that, so I feel a little bit nubby.
Right now it's gonna be something that I'm gonna have to get used to, having shorter
nails, but the color's really pretty.
And then for those of you that never saw the view that I was talking about during my apartment
tour, this is the view we have from our balcony and both of our bedrooms.
So it just overlooks the golf course and it's so freaking beautiful.
I don't want to open up and go out there right now because there's like gardeners out there
that are super loud, but I thought I'd share this with you guys because it's absolutely
stunning.
So I got another package from Lulubebe, which I'm so excited to show you guys.
They actually reached out to me and they wanted to send me one of their bags and I said absolutely
because my best friend Tara uses their bags and this is like her number one recommendation
diaper bag.
She absolutely loves these and she raves about them, so I know that she spoke highly of
and I actually had the black one on my registry, so I really wanted this diaper bag from the
get-go.
So the fact that they reached out to me, I'm super grateful for and I'm really excited
to try and see what they're all about.
So thank you so much, Lulubebe, for sending me a bag.
So packaging already is super cute.
It comes in this really beautiful like silk dust bag, which I really like for when you're
not using it.
You can put it back in here and protect it.
I could not do it with one hand, but here she is.
It is so beautiful, like stunning.
The quality is absolutely amazing.
I got the color in pearl white, which I absolutely love because the other diaper bag I have is
like a pink color.
So this one's like more neutral and everyday and even if like Matt has to carry this around,
I don't think that he would be embarrassed to do so.
So the size of this is incredible.
Like if you can tell with my hand being down here, I feel like it would just hold so much
more than my other diaper bag and I love that it has this big front pocket.
It has the two side pockets and then it has an extra strap that you can wear like over
your shoulder, which I really like.
Inside is super, super spacious.
It has all these pouches lining the outer rim for bottles or whatever you want to stick
in here, which I really like because I don't think that the other diaper bag has as many
as those.
It comes with a little changing pad, which my other one also doesn't have.
And then it comes with this other clip, which I'm not sure what this is for.
Maybe this is for the stroller, I think.
That's amazing.
Like if you can just hook this to the stroller and hook your bag on it, like hello.
I'm in love, you guys.
This bag is literally everything.
The inside is just so spacious.
I can find myself using this for like travel, fitting everything we need in here.
I may even switch over all my hospital bag stuff and use this one because I feel like
I can get more space in this one.
But I'm obsessed.
This is really, really cute.
I'm so thankful that they sent this to me because it's absolutely stunning.
Like so gorgeous.
Like, hi.
Do we love her?
We love her.
She's so cute.
So you're able to see the size of it now being worn, like just how big it is and how
much stuff you're able to fit in there.
So I love it.
I'm trying to pick an accent table for Indy's nursery and I can't decide between this one
or this one.
Like this one's like too bulky and this one's like cute and petite.
I'm so out of breath, you guys.
I just carried this up from my trunk all by myself because I'm impatient and I can't wait.
But obviously that's the one I chose.
It looks a lot darker right now with the lighting but it is more of just like a brassy gold.
But obviously the halo's not going to be there and the rocker will be right here.
All this will be gone too.
So it'll just be the rocker with the little side table.
But I think it looks cute.
The lighting right now is not good because the sun is setting.
But I think once everything's here it'll all come together really well.
I think I'm going to put like some sort of like nightlight right here and then obviously
like if I need to set like bottles or pumping supply stuff down I can put it on top of this.
So it'll just be super convenient to have.
So I just got my BoxyCharm in the mail as well and I wanted to share with you guys what
came in it.
I pay for this every month with my own money.
I absolutely love it.
It's one of my favorite subscription services for beauty products.
If you're looking to like grow your makeup and skin collection I think it's a really
great way to do that.
I've seriously built up so much of my collection just by subscribing to this subscription box.
It's one of my favorites and I keep saying every month that I'm going to cancel it because
I literally like have no more space for anything and I just keep getting so much stuff.
This is what I got this month.
It came with a Skin & Co Polishing Micro Exfoliating Truffle Face Gommage.
So that sounds really good.
That retails for like $28.
And then the Avent Skincare 8 Hour Radiance Renewal Sleeping Mask.
This retails for $107 you guys.
What the hell.
But this is an 8 hour radiance renewal sleeping mask.
Works to reveal more youthful and beautiful skin overnight.
Helps to tighten the skin and lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
The fact that this alone retails for $100 and the box is only like $30 something a month.
Is wild to me.
So this alone is a total steal in the entire box.
Then I was literally just thinking that I need an eye cream because
I haven't been using an eye cream yet.
I've just been using a moisturizer all over and kind of took a break from eye cream.
So this is a retinol eye cream which I probably will not use until after pregnancy.
There's no like known facts that using a topical retinol is bad for you while you're pregnant.
A lot of people will say that it is but there's no like true true evidence.
But I've just strayed away from it just in case.
So I will probably use this after I give birth.
And then this is a concealer from Pretty Vulgar.
This is in the shade Middle Ground.
It looks kind of dark.
Like I think this would work for me if I was self-tanned.
But with my regular skin tone right now I feel like it would just not work to conceal.
Tell you this retails for $55.
And then the concealer retails for $25.
And then the last thing is this lip whip.
And this is a matte lip color that's whipped to perfection.
Easy to apply.
Formulated with a long lasting pigment.
And it doesn't dry out your lips.
This retails for $21.
So interested in trying this and what it's all about.
Not really an everyday color that I would use but I'm down to try it and see what it looks like.
So I will leave the link to BoxyCharm in my description box down below.
I have it linked in like every single video in the description box.
And if you guys want to try it I highly recommend it.
So while we are here and I checked all the mail.
I ordered these the other day off of Amazon.
Just a bunch of scrunchies because I wanted like big oversized ones.
Because the ones that I have right now are just kind of small and not that dramatic.
And I love the way that the big like chunky ones look.
Like if you're just wearing them on your wrist as an accessory or up in your hair.
I have so much hair.
It's super thick so when I use like the smaller ones I feel like they just kind of disappear.
So these are really really cute and good quality.
So it comes in a package of six and they have different color packages too.
This one's like the blush package I think.
So yeah I'm really happy with these and the way that they look and the quality.
So I'm gonna throw a few of these in my hospital bag just to have on hand.
Then I'll keep a few here.
While I was out at Target I also picked up a few more things other than the side table.
I'll just show you guys real quick.
It's really nothing that great but I will share with you guys.
Because I'm nosy and I would want to know what other people are getting.
So I realized when I was panicking and doing like a last minute
check on baby stuff that I don't have and need before she gets here.
I didn't have any baby shampoo or baby wash.
The only one that I do have is like a little seedlings one that Erin Williams sent me with
a bunch of other Young Living like baby products.
So I do have that one but I wanted to grab another one just to have on hand.
So I just grabbed this Honest shampoo and body wash and this is in the lavender scent.
I did order like an oatmeal bath from the company So Luxury
because I reached out to Tara and asked her like what's her favorite baby bath stuff.
And she told me So Luxury by far was her favorite.
So she told me that she uses the oat bath and the like salve.
Is it salve or like salving?
I don't know.
You can put on the baby afterwards when they're out of the bath.
So the oat bath is like super natural and calming to the skin.
Like if your baby and all babies have sensitive skin but if your baby has like extra sensitive
skin she recommended that brand So Luxury because it'll help keep the skin super calm
and not have them get like baby acne or eczema.
And then this I'll probably just use if she has any hair just to wash her hair.
And then I just picked up some disinfecting wipes to like wipe down the peanut changer
or like any areas that are collecting any dust or anything.
I can just bust these out and clean it down real quick.
And these are like not organic or like from the ground grass-fed wipes so don't come for
me but they're just regular old-fashioned disinfecting wipes.
Then I just got these two original swaddle me's because I don't have any like night swaddles
that are like newborn size.
I have a halo sleep sack that's a size small but it doesn't have the one that like covers
the arms.
The arms come out.
I just don't know if I'm going to be a fan of that right off the bat when she's super
little.
I want something that's going to like snug her in so I got this one from Target.
It came in a two pack and it's just the smallest size.
My sister really liked these ones so I'm going to try them out with her and see if she likes
them.
I have them out of the box because I'm going to throw them in the wash so we'll see how
these work.
And then I also just got one more package of newborn diapers to fill this up which I
also have some in this basket right here to like reach super easy and then I just wanted
this filled as well.
This is all the newborn diapers that we have.
The rest are in the closet and I think they're all ranging from size one to like five so
I'm not sure like how little she's going to be and how long she's going to be in newborn
diapers.
So for now I figure this will do and if we need more I can always just order more or
send Matt out to get some.
Are you ready to get some labor salad?
Yes.
Do you think it's going to work?
No.
Why?
You're going to be pregnant forever.
Yeah.
Don't mess around.
All of it.
Did it work?
Yeah.
I just ate the salad so we'll see what happens.
I ate the whole salad and I drank a side of the dressing.
Stay tuned.
Hello.
It is now Sunday afternoon and I went and got the labor salad yesterday.
After we came home I ended up taking a nap until we went to a meeting later so I didn't
really end up doing anything but honestly I don't know if it worked or if it didn't.
I contracted a little bit yesterday like last night but like nothing crazy.
I was able to sleep through my contractions and no big deal and then today I just feel
a little crampy, nauseous, might be TMI but I have diarrhea and that's what's going on.
So I don't know if it worked or not.
I feel like it didn't but we'll see.
I'll keep you guys posted.
I'm sitting on my bathroom floor right now because I'm going to put together my postpartum
basket to keep in the bathroom like all my pads and good stuff like that.
So I'm going to put together all that stuff right now and just do like some last minute
things.
So this is what I have in here.
I have this big basket and then this smaller one.
The smaller one I'm going to keep like all of like the dermaplast, tux, and like little
things like the little peri bottles in here and keep like on top of my toilet.
And then this big one I'm going to keep like the Depends and different sized pads I'll
keep in here and keep like right down on the floor next to me.
And then I just wanted to share real quick because this came in from Sephora yesterday
but I ended up ordering this shampoo and conditioner from the brand Sol de Janeiro.
I absolutely love this brand.
Like they smell so freaking heavenly.
I'm obsessed with their like all over body lotion and shower stuff.
So when I saw that they had a shampoo and conditioner I was like yes please.
So I ordered this one.
It came with the shampoo and the conditioner and then it comes with like a little travel
size like body spray.
$45.
So I don't think that's too bad for everything that you're getting in this box.
And then I needed a new purple shampoo so I decided to try this Amika Buster Brast Cool
Blonde shampoo.
I've heard really good things about this brand Amika and they also had really good reviews
on Sephora website so I'll let you guys know if I end up liking this.
Sorry if I'm like whispering or super soft spoken.
Matt's literally napping in the living room like right here so I'm trying not to be super
loud.
So I'm going to sign off and close off this vlog but if you did enjoy this video be sure
to give it a thumbs up.
Subscribe to my channel if you are new and I will see you guys in my next video.
Hopefully I'll have a baby.
