Mindfulness with Leia - 05 Aversion

The Aversion to Aversion Today we will explore when we turn against our own discomfort At this point, you may have noticed something subtle:
Not only do we experience discomfort... We often dislike the fact that we’re uncomfortable.
We feel tension—and then frustration about the tension.
We feel anxious—and then ashamed of feeling anxious.
We get irritated—and then disappointed in ourselves for being irritated.
This is the aversion to aversion. It’s a way that we layer resistance:
I wish I didn’t feel this.
I should be past this.
What’s wrong with me?
But here’s the thing:
Aversion is not a failure. It’s just a visitor. What if we stopped resisting the resistance? Today, the practice is to notice when we’ve turned against our own experience and to offer just a little bit of warmth instead.
We don’t have to like what’s here. But we can stop fighting ourselves for feeling it.
Mindful Meditation
Bring to mind something mild that’s been difficult lately—
Not overwhelming, just something uncomfortable.
Notice how your mind responds to it.
And now, offer just a little kindness to the part of you that struggles.
Don't try to fix it, just be present.
Can you let it be… just as it is?
Let discomfort be just a sensation and nothing more.
This is the heart of the practice.
