The 49ers just beat the Arizona Cardinals 36-30 and that game was a lot closer than
you would have liked against the Arizona Cardinals, but it's extremely impressive
that the 49ers offense scored 36 points despite having the ball for like 20 minutes,
not an exaggeration, losing Mike Evans in the first half and losing Trent Williams in the
second half. They did not return to the game. So how was the Niners offense so good? Well,
Brock Purdy was great, George Kittle was great, Christian McCaffrey was great, Kyle Shanahan was
great. I mean, they started off the game with a trick play that went for 80 yards and a touchdown.
That was essentially the difference in the game. And then when the Cardinals were making it a game
late, the Niners offense put them away multiple times. So all the credit in the world to this
offense, especially continuing to roll like this without having the ball very much without having
some of their best players, but 30 points they gave up against the Cardinals. Why? Well, they
really miss Nick Bosa. They're really decimated on defense. In addition, Dre Greenlaw went down
in the second half and they miss him too. So it's the same story every week with the 49ers.
Impressive win. They might be the best team in the league. They're undefeated. And yet they lost
Mike Evans, Trent Williams, Dre Greenlaw, Nick Bosa. They lost during the week. It's three to
four players every week. And it's like, is it random or is it injury prone players getting
injured? I don't have the answers to these things. Also, another thing that was alarming, Eddie
Pinero, he made a 57 yard field goal and then missed two extra points, which really made this
a game when it shouldn't have been a game. So I'm careful to draw too many conclusions about
a 49ers team that was missing a bunch of players. We know they're really good. We know they can beat
just about anyone. We know the Arizona Cardinals are a long way off, but we're going to have to
find out more about these injuries. It seems like every time I'm walking through these halls,
I'm talking about four players who won't be coming back. And with Mike Evans,
looked like a rib injury. He got cracked. Looked like he couldn't even breathe.
That looks like he's going to miss him a little bit of time. Dre Greenlaw, hip, no, excuse me,
quad injury. He had that injury in Denver. He could miss a little bit of time. And then Trent
Williams, Stinger, he was on the sideline, kind of seemed like he was fighting to come back in the
game. They didn't let him. I would imagine he'll play next week. So maybe that one's not serious,
but it's like, it's one thing after another with these injury prone players. Thank goodness they
have Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle for now. Maybe I'm
doing a reverse jinx because my goodness, how many more guys can the Niners lose and still
play like this? I don't know.
