Instant Analysis of the 49ers’ 27-7 Win Over the Rams in Australia
Sep 11, 2026
Sure it's just week one, but that was a huge, huge big time win for the 49ers over the Rams
who are supposed to be the best team in the NFL.
I don't think so.
The Niners just embarrassed them, emasculated them 27-7 in Australia.
Brock Purdy was incredible.
Maybe that's a little strong, but he was really, really, really, really good.
By far the best quarterback on the field.
Three touchdowns, also five scrambles for 30 yards.
He looked really, really good out there, as opposed to Matthew Stafford, who looked old, tired, slow, old.
I mean, he was freaking terrible.
And then there was Kyle Shanahan, who was even better.
I mean, he put together a run game that gained almost 180 yards on the ground.
He completely negated the Rams' pass rush.
He made Miles Garrett look like a freaking ghost.
I mean, wow.
He used Mike Evans perfectly.
He used Deebo and Demarcus Robinson perfectly.
He was overusing Kittle early and then pivoted away from that.
He actually called more runs for Kalen Black than Christian McCaffrey.
Like, wow.
Wow.
I have a great influence on Kyle Shanahan.
And then let's not focus all on the offense.
How about the defense?
They gave up seven points.
How about Raheem Morris, who I was down on all offseason?
I mean, the last time the Niners faced Matthew Stafford, he tore them apart at Levi's.
This time, seven points.
He was awful.
Raheem Morris freaking owns him.
What am I missing?
I mean, I'm not saying the Niners are going to win the Super Bowl because they beat the Rams.
But I mean, and I'm not saying the Rams won't.
It's week one.
They probably should have came to Australia a week early.
The Niners definitely did the right thing and gave themselves the best chance to win.
But I don't know.
Anytime you come out here and get embarrassed like that, it's bad.
I don't know what the Rams were thinking.
The only bad thing from the Niners in this game, again, they won by 20,
was that they lost Dejon Stribling.
He hurt his ankle, went to the tent, came back, hurt his ankle again.
It looked like an Achilles injury.
They say it's an ankle injury.
Also, Jake Tine just went down with a knee injury.
Didn't affect him in this game.
We'll see when they come back, if they come back.
Every time the Niners play, two or three guys get seriously injured, which I don't know why.
I can't blame the substation on this one.
But I guess that's a thought for another day.
All we got to talk about right now is, man, the Rams shouldn't have even come.
They wasted their own time.
