Insider drops BOMBSHELL Dylan Larkin Trade Report...
Oct 18, 2026
An NHL insider has just dropped a new bombshell trade update
on Dylan Larkin revolving around
his actual trade request from the Detroit Red Wings.
We also have other insiders chiming
in on some new destinations that he has been linked
to and we finally have some clarity after months
of wondering what the Red Wings want
in return, months of confusion, conflicting reports,
we finally have some clarity from
an NHL insider as to what the Wings are looking
for exactly in return for Dylan Larkin and from
some of the reports it sounds like it's not a matter
if he wants to be traded it's a matter of
when at this point we're going to break down all of these new reports
and much more in this episode
of Red Wings Digest but guys before we jump into all
of that a quick reminder to hit that subscribe
button thank you so much to you guys
who are subscribed to the channel watch every day
comment every day and thank you
so much for over 5,000 subscribers now we're almost at 6,000
subscribers unbelievable so thank you
so much for tuning in every single day and mark and i are
going to give you guys updates on what's happening
with the red wings every single day now nhl
insider Darren Dreger just revealed
a huge Dylan Larkin trade update revolving around what the
asking price is for the Red Wings former captain
and center right now of course Dylan Larkin off
to a pretty good start so far this season
and he's still a Red Wing and he's going to be playing
tonight we're going to talk about the game tonight as well
because it's going to be a very interesting
test for the Red Wings but he has revealed
that the asking price what the Red Wings are looking
for because we heard a lot of different conflicting
reports through the summer through preseason up
until today about what they want according
to Darren Dreger they want two A quality prospects
two slam dunk prospects they want a top nine forward
that can play now and NHL ready forward
which is super vague top nine i mean third liner second liner
do you want a top line player that
can play in the NHL right now what exactly
is that and i guess they're you know fielding offers
and attached to the offer with these two things
that they want a first round pick so they want
a first round pick two slam dunk prospects
and a top nine forward that can play in the NHL right
now now this is very different than what we heard earlier
in the offseason which is they want to
trade Dylan Larkin for a top line center
so they want a contender to trade for Dylan Larkin and in
return they'll take the contenders top line center
that doesn't make sense for any team that's
acquiring Dylan Larkin this does make sense
and with the way Dylan Larkin started the season the
type of player that he is say what you want about him
the trade request that you're mad about it
you're mad about you know the fact that everything's gone
to this point you're mad about ownership you
booed him at the home opener whatever
that looks like he's still a good hockey player right you
can respect that fact and whether you know you don't have to like it
but myself personally and
i said it before on the channel him coming out
you know they said that him coming out at the
start of the season on the bench and waving whatever
and yes he took off immediately was
his decision i respect stuff like that and i respect
the fact that he's still a good hockey
player so can you get these things i think
so and that is from Darren Drager report now you're
looking at three or four pieces
and again that first round pick so that's what they're looking
forward i think that trade return actually makes a lot of sense
but here's the question that i want
to post to you guys too and the thing just
to think about Dylan Larkin has a lot of years left
whoever's trading for him is getting great value here
so you're getting some prospects you're
getting a first round pick if you get like
a third liner as the player that's ready to play
in the NHL right now a second liner it's time to start thinking about
and i'm not talking about you
now Raymond and and Mo Sider you want to keep
those guys those guys are cornerstones but if
you're getting some great prospects that might
be ready in a year or two and then that first
round pick maybe you can flip that first round pick
for immediate help maybe you go out and do
something like that but is it time
for a rebuild i'm just throwing it out there i'm not saying it
is but is it time for you know a retool a rebuild it might
be anyway it might be anyway it might be
you might be forced into doing that but i feel like
this trade return makes more sense than what
we heard earlier this offseason and is more in line with a guy
who is an interim general manager
and Steve Yzerman actually being allowed to do his job
so that's good news if it's true because what
we've heard before is clearly Chris Ilitch pulling the strings right
so i think that's pretty
interesting now i want to get into a couple other reports as well uh
and by the way from uh chris
johnson as i mentioned in the intro as well apparently
because a lot of people are talking
about this and i've seen this in the comments
as well are we even sure dylan larkin wants to trade
are we still sure about that maybe he wants
to stay he'll ride it out chris johnson's reporting
no he still thinks dylan larkin wants to be traded
and a lot of insiders are sharing that
same sentiment that the trade request still
stands he would like to be moved but of course
there's nothing he can really do about it
if the team doesn't get it done and apparently he has
eight or nine teams on the table now on a trade list too
so um that's just the latest on that
Elliot Friedman is speculating that the reaction
in Montreal last week may have changed things
slightly he's not saying you know a hundred percent uh
that you know Dylan Larkin's completely
open to Montreal but the reaction
in Montreal may have opened the door slightly now Montreal
if you think about it in terms of fit
for them it makes perfect sense to acquire Dylan Larkin it's
just a matter of does Dylan Larkin want to play
in canada i don't think that's the case i don't
know for sure he hasn't explicitly said that but in terms
of the trade return montreal has exactly
exactly what the red wings are looking for based
on this Darren Dreger report they have exactly
what they're looking for so in terms of trade partners
if you look around the league in terms
of fit for the Montreal Canadiens it makes sense
and in terms of return if it is in line truly if
that is the truth from the Darren Dreger report
the Montreal Canadiens have that they can give
you a solid top top nine player they can give you
two great prospects they have a lot of really good
prospects you're looking at you know Michael Hague right
or Hage however you want to pronounce it
it might be the second one
but they have a great prospect there right that they're looking it's
not that they're looking to trade but if they can
upgrade immediately to a guy like Dylan Larkin
they would make that deal they would trade him
that's been thrown out there forever at this
point so it's interesting
but again Dylan Larkin has been playing very well to start this season
the Red Wings of course have not and a lot
of people think I'm crazy for saying throw in the
towel already I don't like the way they've started there's
a lot of turmoil around the team
maybe they can pick it up if they make some changes
but you got to make those changes now
you can't wait till Thanksgiving you can't wait
till Christmas the team would be out of it
if they continue to play this way
so that's something to keep an eye on as well and then
you know there's again there's a lot going
on I feel like in the dressing room so what would the
lineup look like without Dylan Larkin right
and again it might look different because you might
be adding another top nine forward
but what does the lineup look like without Dylan Larkin
immediately if you're not getting immediate help
if you're getting a prospect that you know is
going to be a great prospect a couple prospects
is what they're looking for but maybe in a couple
years maybe next year the year after that right
so that's something that you absolutely have to
keep an eye on too so let me know
in the comments would you accept this reported return uh for
Dylan Larkin of course we you're not naming players
but let's say it's Montreal that that
would be a great return but there's a lot of teams
that could make that deal as reported from Darren
Dreger, rather than hey let's just swap top line centers
that doesn't make sense for a lot of teams
that would be looking to acquire a Dylan Larkin like
if you look at Tampa, if you look at Minnesota
if you look at Dallas, all these teams hey give us
your top line center we'll give you ours like
that doesn't why would that make sense for any team
if you're looking to get better if you're
looking to acquire Dylan Larkin you'd rather give up futures right
and or a piece too i think that's
a much more reasonable trade request trade ask
from the uh Detroit Red Wings now Detroit does
play the San Jose Sharks tonight
in a very interesting matchup for the team against the
Sharks, Macklin Celebrini in town, that's
a big matchup now if you look at the standings in the
Atlantic Division uh the Red Wings last place
in the Atlantic Division this is a big game to
try and get back you can tie Toronto here
in the standings if the Leafs were to lose tonight
which they have a lot going on over there
as well uh San Jose big implications for them in this game
as well if you look at the Pacific Division has
not exactly shaped out like anyone has predicted
so far this season with the uh the Seattle Kraken being
as good as they are out of the gate but
obviously uh if you look in the entire conference San Jose right
on the outside looking in and would
like to do something about that and get back
into the playoff picture i know it's early but you want
to keep pace with a lot of these teams
and you can see like separation already starting with the
Calgaries of the world the Los Angeles Kings
the Chicago Blackhawks stuff like that so of course
the Vancouver Canucks i didn't even mention them
but they you know kind of knew that they were going
to be bad again this season
so uh dylan larkin against the san jose sharks the last couple
seasons as well he likes to play them a lot
of his numbers are up in every single game uh while it
just being slightly he does like to play
and does produce against the San Jose Sharks in his career
the last couple of games so that'll be something
to monitor tonight as well let me know in the
comments how you feel about all these new reports
and speaking of comments guys make sure to leave
your comments because we do comment of the day every single day now
and i'll get to a couple of
them today as well and you can see this comment would hate
to see Gibson go we talked about it
yesterday John Gibson would you trade John Gibson
but it's the right decision the Red Wings need to
commit to a rebuild instead of teetering between trying
to be competitive and building which i
could agree with that like if you're just
on the outside just on the outside looking at the playoffs
every year that's the worst place to be i'd rather know i'm i'm
a terrible team or we're headed for
the playoffs i don't want it in between this team
is far away from being competitive and another
comment as well and people are coming
with the hot takes people are passionate people are feeling it
right now chris is running this franchise chris ilitch
the owner this franchise into the dirt
and larkin is in his 30s he's given a lot
if this franchise wasn't run like a little caesar's pizza
location he would probably stay well guys let me know how you feel
in the comments below a lot going
on with the red wings i feel like that's
a much more reasonable trade ask from the red wings if
that report from Darren Dreger is true
but let me know how you feel about it in the comments below
and do you think there's anything to him going
to Montreal at this point Elliot Friedman thinks
that the door may have been creaked open
a little bit doesn't mean that he's going there
but a lot of interesting stuff going down
