Video Summary
AI GeneratedReports indicate a trade involving Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin may be imminent. Insiders suggest the team has established a high asking price for the former captain, while recent roster moves and performance metrics suggest the organization may be preparing to move on to improve team chemistry and cap space.
Trade reports revolving around Dylan Larkin
are continuing to escalate for the Detroit Red Wings
as multiple new insiders have revealed that a trade is imminent
and Darren Dreger just revealed
what the trade package the Detroit Red Wings
are looking for is and we're going to break down all
of that and many more updates on this episode
of Red Wings Digest including a big win against the
San Jose Sharks and of course what's happening with Simon Edvinsson
and a roster move that the
team has made. We're going to break that down
and much more in this episode but before we get into
all of that a quick reminder to hit
that subscribe button we've noticed that about 85 percent of you
who watch these videos on a regular basis
are not subscribed to the channel so if you want to stay
up to date with everything that's happening
with the Red Wings every single day make sure to hit
that subscribe button so you can stay up to date
with everything that's happening with the Red
Wings, well Mark, let's get right into it
so yesterday we saw that Jacob Bernard-Docker was put on waivers
now there's a lot of speculation that a lot
of teams could use some defensive help and maybe he
would be claimed but as we found out literally two minutes ago
as of the recording of this video
uh he cleared waivers so he's going down to the Grand Rapids Griffins
so they retain his services
and could this be a move a lot of people
are speculating that you know could result in a
subsequent trade maybe revolving around Dylan Larkin now there's
a lot that we've heard
over the last 24 hours including what
the Red Wings want in return for Dylan Larkin and um
Another thing that we've heard is from John Buccigross, he said,
I think there's going to be a trade, including Dylan Larkin,
or when he was prompted who he thinks it was going to be,
he did say Dylan Larkin, within the next week, seven to 10 days.
So Mark, what do you make of this?
It sounds like things could be ramping up.
And again, a lot of people are speculating that the move to send
Jacob Bernard-Docker down to the AHL is to free up cap roster spaces,
because this is, of course, going to be a massive trade, right?
this is not like one piece for one piece
or anything like this it would be you know a four
or five piece deal something like
that multiple pieces like Darren Dreger reported yesterday
I think the biggest thing is too is right now there's
no word that Dylan Larkin's even open
to still staying so the trade is still
the only outcome coming with the former captain within this
franchise and despite having some good games here
and there of course the first game he played was
very good and then everything kind of went down a little bit
but it's bouncing back and forth with
Dylan Larkin he's still playing
but with the trade you still need to get this done sooner
rather than later and of course traction is going
to pick up teams are dealing with injuries teams
are finally at the point where they've evaluated their roster
and see exactly what they need you
look at Minnesota once again not saying
that that's where he's going exactly but again a team
that desperately needs another sentiment to join their team
and with everything popping up with the
reports coming out there's going to be so much traction
with that and especially when you're
getting into an American Thanksgiving
when you're getting into Christmas there's going to be a
ticking time bomb with this franchise to move
on from Larkin the longer you wait the more
disgruntled he could truly become
and with the seven to ten day window honestly at this point
i genuinely could see that happen where they have
to bring it already signs and of course you move
on to your next biggest thing which is Edmon
but this team works backwards so then you got
Dylan Larkin that seems to be the next up
and again this could be coming fast and there is the
return they want is insane yeah
and they want we heard from Darren Dreger yesterday that they want
two pretty much a tier prospects they want
a player that can play in the NHL right now a top
nine player and a first round pick that's
the package that they're looking for from Dylan
Larkin I also heard and if you look out there
on social media the sentiment right now I believe
from the Red Wings organization whether it's
Steve Yzerman whether it's somebody else whether it's
Chris Ilitch is if you don't want to pay this price
then you don't want Dylan Larkin like
the sentiment right now is like oh I guess you
don't want Dylan Larkin then when they're talking
to the Minnesota Wild the Montreal Canadiens
and these other teams on Montreal too and I had it up
here on screen for a little bit uh we heard
yesterday you know Elliot Friedman revealed
hey maybe the reaction last week
from the Montreal crowd maybe creaked the door open a little bit for
Dylan Larkin Darren Dreger does not believe
that that's the case right like if it was Montreal if
they were even on the table if there's even
an option it probably would have been done by now
according to him so I thought that was pretty interesting
and Chris Johnson revealing like you
said Mark uh Dylan Larkin still wants
to be moved like the trade request still stands like
nothing has really changed on that front so um you know
when you look at everything that's happened
to this point there could be something
to and including the roster moves what John Butcher
Gross is saying where hey I think a trade could
be coming fairly soon here and maybe teams are
starting to say you know what now that we actually have
a clear idea of what you want for Dylan
Larkin because that was a thing through the summer
in the preseason where the Red Wings had no idea
what they wanted now that you've established
that maybe we pay that and obviously Dylan Larkin you
know halfway through his contract at this point
um whoever's trading for him is getting great value
now things have took a bit of an interesting turn
with this uh situation because as we'll dive into
in a little bit the numbers now that we have
a larger sample size this season they're actually
not a better team with him in the lineup like it's pretty interesting
so uh and they're definitely
not out of it yet they're at the bottom
of the conference not exactly right at the bottom but
near the bottom of the conference
but they have a record that suggests that they can slowly pick it
up here and they're not completely out of it yet
so uh you can see you know his ice time has
increased over the last little
while he did start the season pretty well obviously putting up a
couple points for the Red Wings in that time
but you can see fans are just you know mad about it
they some fans don't want to move they want
to send a message to players some fans are saying
just get it over and done with it's the worst kept secret
in the league send them to Minnesota
already and take whatever you want back fans
are blaming Chris Ilitch all of that type of stuff
there's a lot going on right now
but like I mentioned with and without Dylan Larkin
this season we have a large enough sample size
and while it is small it does suggest that they
are better without him so I think
that's pretty uh pretty interesting without him on the ice so
Mark any final thoughts on that before we move
on to uh some other updates on the wing I mean
you've seen with Brady Kachuk last year in Ottawa there's
a lot of traction and tension within the
locker room that we've seen coming out
of Ottawa Ottawa's playing a hell of a season because they
have that out maybe this is starting to trickle
in where guys in Detroit are saying hey our former
captain still doesn't want to be here he's showing up
but again a guy that doesn't enjoy a nine to
five we don't want to work with this guy
so i don't want to say that is the whole reason and
i'm not trying to say players on this team hate Dylan Larkin
but the numbers back it up i mean
if you're going to make a trade you might as well do it now
because the team is performing better
without Dylan Larkin on the ice which again small sample size
and Dylan Larkin's an incredible
player but the numbers back it up do something at this point
and a trade needs to come down before
Christmas and i think with that set price things will move
a little bit quicker and i think that's
where that report from Don Wirtz
is coming from and i did say a couple minutes ago
that it's slightly worse it's actually much worse i mean
the expected goals for differential
like minus 12 with him on the ice that's insane
so um not you know it's interesting so uh we'll
see how that continues to progress uh now
the Red Wings picked up a big win last night uh you know
before going out on a road trip against
the San Jose Sharks in a shootout to bring it was very
good too they now have two straight wins the Red Wings
do which is uh you know great continuing to
build some momentum here which is which is cool
but uh you can take a look at the standings here
after that win Mark do you have any uh thoughts
on you know the Atlantic Division they've won two
in a row here they still have a negative a goal differential
but they're in the fight right like
everyone's still in the fight early in the season i mean the second
and third in the conference has
12 points and Detroit only has eight points right
like you're right there you're four points back
of a playoff spot so everybody's still
in the mix i think everybody will be in the mix in this
conference like the fact that Montreal is six
the Leafs are eight like it's tight right like it's
super tight so do you have any thoughts on where
this team could end up you know do you think and
like you said you know removing Dylan Larkin
and just ridding themselves of this whole you know
circus of will he won't he
for a couple players including Simon Edvinsson with the Brady Kachuk
thing happening you could see like a weight lifted off
the Ottawa Senators shoulders as well so do
you think they could maybe take off a little bit
if he were to be traded but again not to say just
trade him for nothing obviously I just feel
like we're closer to getting a package that
that Detroit's happy with and the fans might
be happy with because they've actually set a price
with the standings too this is going to be one
of the most blood-crunching uh standings when it
comes to the conferences wow that wasn't even english
but looking at the Atlantic Division this
is of course a very hard one to stay competitive
in the Boston Bruins are good every year they're
cockroaches the Ottawa Senators run
a hot streak after moving Brady the Florida Panthers dealing
with injuries are still in the wild card spot you cannot fall behind
in this of course it's only
four points from you stretching to the wildcard spot
but again these teams are going to get better
as the season goes on players are coming back you need
to stay competitive and looking at Ottawa
trading Brady again that took this summer
for them to get back into where they wanted to be
and now a competitive team third in the Atlantic I'm
not going to say that Detroit trades Dylan
Larkin the next week they're the best team in the Eastern Conference
but again it's going to build
there's going to be less noise around this team
the media is not going to only be talking and
asking questions about Dylan Larkin they're going
to talk about the play we know that a lot of guys
are mad with the way the season has started I guess you've got
a two-game win streak but again
you're not in a wild card spot yet early season
but when looking at this series I think you need
to go on a bit of a heater to at least gain some traction
because Florida is going to be a team
that's probably going to make a push is Ottawa going
to stay hot you want to get above them
and with Dylan Larkin if he's worse
on this team man it's going to get weird on how you're going
to go into Christmas once again with a guy
that if your team's worse how are you going to get a
meaningful minutes that keep
his value high definitely yeah and you know you're talking
about you know big performances the rest
of the way too I'm looking at a guy like Alex Ovechkin
scored last night right and um you know they're gonna need him
to be big too he just got his new
contract and you know he's feeling pretty good
and the future's kind of set at least there so
guys let us know in the comments how you feel
about everything we discussed today do you think
there's anything to what John Butcher gross is saying
in terms of a trade coming down soon they've
made some roster moves that could lend to the fact
that yeah a trade could be coming so let us know
how you feel about the return what's happening with the Red Wings
and do you think they can still
make the playoffs let us know how you feel about all
of that in the comments below and we'll see
you for another video tomorrow
