But let's dive right into this video as today we have two veterans who are going to talk about how different the team is going into this year, how the feel in the locker room is with a different approach this year than they were last year we get a quote some quotes from Sherwood, a quote from Nadelkovic and we're just going to take a look at the updated roster per Puckpedia and how they have everybody placed so we got a lot coming up in this video so let's dive right into it with our first quote from Kiefer Sherwood. We have a lot from Sherwood here in this video which is great a veteran who knows how teams feel and stuff like this he says I think we're checking a lot of boxes so now we've got to put it together we have a lot of skill a lot of IQ we have some jam and some grit and some more experience that we brought in so it's going to be exciting to put it all together I think right now we're just focused on continuing to build our build our identity how we want to play as a team and building reliable habits throughout and he also talks about his goals for this season saying there's levels I want to get to and looking back and reflecting back personal goals and ambitions that I want to take for the next step forward and helping lead this team in a different way and try to use your experience and your mind in a different way too so I want to pull it all together make our team harder to play against but also whoever I'm playing with making those guys better each and every night and bringing that consistent identity and bringing guys into the fight and bringing that energy on a nightly basis and that is two very great quotes and two kind of leadership quotes from Kiefer Sherwood there I think going into this season this is a guy we may see get the A some nights and I think he's a he's a great leader he's a great veteran in this in this room he's basically saying you know I'm gonna play wherever I need to play to help this team win on the nightly basis and and lead this team to success he talks about you know obviously the additions that they add and added and and how they added some veteran presence which was great to see I think he knows a lot of what we are talking about as well that is having more veteran presences is going to let allow this team to win more because you have more of these players who have won across their careers and now they're here in the bay area to teach these young guys how to win because you know you can play good you can you know you can play your mind your mind off and you know you can have all this skill and put all these points on the board but sometimes that doesn't cause you to win so having guys like Sherwood and Truba and all these guys around now that kind of share their experience with these young talents to kind of say okay you know we don't we need this is how you win like this is how you get carry yourself as a player and stuff like this it's great to see and just hearing that Sherwood is pretty much down to play with anybody in this lineup is great to see and saying he's trying to elevate each player he's playing with this is another great comment from him there just saying you know I know what I bring to the table I know I'm physical I know I can lay the body I know I can score goals and I'm just trying to elevate my line elevate the players that are playing on the center and on the left wing with me and that's great news from Sherwood I mean we've played seen him play a couple different lineups here in the preseason and he looked great in both so it's great to hear that from him as well he also had to talk about Stenberg as well which is very interesting what he had to say about him he said we haven't been in the same group but the first thing I said to Wenberg was he's just so smooth and poised with the puck his head's up and he's always looking to find whoever's open and set him up so I think his IQ is obviously off the charts and excited to see him keep working and growing his game and basically saying yeah like this guy's a special talent the way he just carries himself night in and night out is amazing to see as a player and just the way he can see the game just the way he moves on the ice it's so smooth and it basically saying he kind of looks like it's not his first time right and it is you know he's a rookie so hearing this just from an experienced experienced player in this locker room like Sherwood speaks volumes of how good Stenberg is as a player and how this locker room kind of views him as this maybe secondary kind of option in terms of scoring going into the season which is great to hear from Sherwood as well but this is what Warsawski actually had to say on Sherwood as well I did want to bring this up because I thought this was interesting he said he's just a real team guy he knows we're getting deeper he's willing to do whatever it takes to win he's a competitor he's just a guy that you win with ultra competitive he hasn't changed since he was in the American Hockey League now no matter what contract he's on where he is in the lineup his game doesn't change but I think it is great to hear about Sherwood from the head coach basically saying you know this guy's gonna go out every night be a warrior for this team try to do whatever he can in his power and within his skill range to make this team win a hockey game and he doesn't care where he's playing he can play on the penalty kill you can put him on the power play two unit if you want like this guy is a very versatile winger that you know obviously be acquired last year and was great to see my career make this acquisition and just hearing that he's just a team player and is willing to do whatever it takes for this team to win is great going forward which I'm excited to see because let's just take a look at how his stats were last season he didn't finish the season with 36 points 23 goals 13 assists hoping we see him you know get some more minutes this year I think we will see him around maybe the 18 uh time on ice Burke and I think Kiefer Sherwood is a guy when he's playing with a lot of skill on his line uh whether it is you know Stenberg or Mesa or whether it is you know Wemberg or Antifoli or whoever it is this guy's gonna go out there every night and try to score you a goal and this is a guy who could reach 30 goals for sure if we just take a look at his overall career he's been great right they give his most goal total ever last season with 23 he had 40 points just two seasons ago uh this is a guy who's gonna score you hopefully 20 goals this year and hopefully at the best get you 30 and I definitely think playing with the skill that he will be playing with now is great to see going forward and I really got a lot of faith on Sherwood going into this season and is a guy who I think is very underrated in terms of this lineup but this is what Alexander Nedeljkovic had to say about these new additions on the blue line uh from a goaltending perspective I thought this was very interesting uh from San from the San Jose hockey now uh from this great article I thought this was a great quote from Nedeljkovic here I think the biggest thing that everybody's going to take it personally we've got some big bodies uh they're big guys on the back end I got another year under said our job at the end of the day as a goalie is to stop puck and we have to take pride in that uh we're trying to take a step forward and keep some of those ugly ones out of the net but I think all 20 guys have to take pride in playing good solid defense and not being satisfied with winning games five to four even four to three if we get up two or three goals early how are we going to continue to put the foot on the pedal and not give up uh two or three down the stretch whether or not the game is out of hand find a way to play a full 60 minutes and take a step forward and mature in that area and I thought that was a fantastic quote from Alex Nedeljkovic basically saying we can't be happy with allowing four or three or four goals a game if we're winning them five four three you know five to four or four to three you know yeah it's great we're winning a game but you know we can't just let that go because if you give up like he said early goals uh and you don't bite down and you don't try to get them back then it's just going to lead to a blowout game and it's great to hear that yeah he's it likes the additions that they did add on the blue line and thinks it's going to be better this year but he says all 20 guys need to play a better solid defensive game and we need to mature in that area saying like the younger guys kind of need to mature in that area be more defensive and hold themselves more accountable for giving up goals or something like that so I thought that was a great quote a great quote from Alex Nedeljkovic basically saying hey yeah you know we we don't want to be satisfied with just winning games and giving up a lot of goals we want to win games handily and just allowing you know two one or two goals a game and on some occasions three which I think is great to hear from Nedeljkovic as well just from him as well and I do just want to take a look at this lineup that Puckpedia does have going into this season mine might be a little bit different here but this is what this is what Puckpedia has they have Merchant Celebrity Smith which is what we're going to see going into this season get to Foley Wemberg and Graff is the second line which I thought was uh interesting having that line uh there and then we have the SM the SMS line uh not SMG because they're not with Graff uh with Stenberg Misa and Shearwood and then they have Goodrow Delandria and Chernyshov on that fourth line they also have Dickinson with Truba and Cagnoni with Orloff Nurse with Kesselring and then they have a Stopchuck Allen and Leeson as the extra forwards I thought this was a very interesting uh lineup uh you know I really do like think we should see Stenberg Misa and and uh obviously Graff starting on the second line heading into the season but um you know obviously maybe you don't want to give them that opportunity yet maybe you want to see them earn it play good on the third line before you bump them up uh but you know I like this lineup going into the year uh Stenberg Misa Shearwood is something we've seen in the preseason and I think Shearwood kind of looked a little bit slower on this line uh because just of how fast his line mates are so that's why I think he should be more with the Wemberg and Toffoli line kind of have a veteran line and have these young guys in in Graff Misa and Stenberg go together uh but I like this lineup going into this season it's going to be a fun game on October 1st it's going to be interesting to see what comes out tomorrow with you know leading up to the game what comes out in practice and if you want to stay up to date on everything that's happening around the San Jose Sharks we're home for it here on YouTube you want to stay in and tune into that stream
