How to make candles
Fire. The greatest invention known to man. It gives off heat. It gives off light. It burns.
And it's already pretty great on its own, but you know what would make it better?
Combining it with the second greatest invention known to man. Deodorant. No, not this. I'm talking
about these. Of course, someone's already done this and invented a nifty little thing called
scented candles. But you know what? I might not be an inventor of scented candles, but I sure
can make my own scented candles. And sure, maybe I've never made a scented candle before today,
but that's not going to stop me. After spending enough time on the internet, I am now an expert
at making candles. And luckily, I have all I need to make candles. A heatproof container. I'm sure
you'll have some of these lying around. Wax, which I'm definitely sure you can get. Or just fight
some bees for it. I conveniently have a whole box of it that I totally didn't order online.
Smelly things. Wicks. Metal guides to keep your wick close to the center of the container.
And this melty thing to melt your wax in. Measure out your wax. Apparently, when you're using pellets,
you need twice the amount of wax to fill your container. I'm not sure if that's accurate,
but I guess we'll find out shortly. And if you have melted chocolate before, we need to use a
double boiling method. And if you're not familiar with this, it is absolutely nothing like double
frying. Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the wax. Soy wax is supposed to melt at around
70 something degrees, so we'll try and keep it at that temperature. Add the second greatest
invention known to man. Nice smells. Don't overdo it. Just a few drops should do. Attach the wick
to the bottom of the container first. Use the metal guides to hold the wicks.
Then pour the rest of your wax. And all we need to do is wait.
Then trim the wicks down. Put a safety sticker on there so you can't get sued.
And there you have it. Homemade candles.
