The colorado avalanche just got some exciting news right before the matchup against winnipeg tonight Now they are going to be getting back one of their important players that they are missing already early on in the season Before we get started. So let's get right into things So the person who is coming back is zachary laroe. He will play This was listed yesterday, but he will play tonight against winnipeg now on top of that We also have a different update as well says laroe will play and o'connor could be an option in calgary They'll adjust as needed with both coming off lower body injuries and it being a back-to-back And I think there is a chance that we see laroe in game one and we see o'connor in game two But I don't know if we'll see both of them on the ice at the same time It's not entirely a guarantee there But I also think jared bednar is trying to keep a longer leash on tj hughes With laroe coming back juleson is most likely going to be sent back to the colorado eagles While when logan o'connor comes back when both of them are back We are probably going to have to send down a forward Now of all the forwards on the team tj hughes is one of the few that has not really put much up Offensively, but he is still a rookie. He is still not really Proven himself as an nhl player just yet. I really want to see him stay with the team But he may need to wait until there is another opening like close in the future now speaking of The future so the abs are currently one of only two teams that have still remained undefeated Let me show you that right here. Here's the graphic So us and anaheim are the only undefeated teams coincidentally us and anaheim are two of the Three teams that have only played two games this season It's pretty early in a season for there to already be this few undefeated teams left in the league I remember last season and in years past. I think there were multiple teams that were Undefeated five even six games into the season if I remember correctly, I think the abs started one season seven and oh But i'm confident the abs can still keep that streak going we have our game against winnipeg tonight at 7 30 eastern Then we have calgary tomorrow. So our canadian road trip first road trip of the season Canadian road trip. So we've got winnipeg. We've got calgary and then in a couple days we have the maples Here are the as expected goals for so far this season the expected goals for has been pretty great for the team So far into the year they are in that upper echelon over there there that top right corner, it's pretty good expected goals against so just Just below a 2.5 there at the top expected goals for just above a 3.5 over there Utah their power play has been on fire. So it makes a lot of sense that they are all the way over there on the far right Vegas is vegas. They play pretty good so far this season edmonton has scored a lot of goals I'm surprised their expected goals against well, I guess that makes that expected goals against maybe only at two But of course they have given up a lot more goals than that And on top of that to the vancouver canucks It's not a shot at the at the oilers as much as it is a shot at the canucks because the canucks are not That good of a team but the oilers should feel bad that they gave up What 13 goals to them across two games? That's pretty rough. So here is the upcoming schedule for this month So we've got back to three separate back-to-backs over the next three weeks We've got winnipeg and calgary on the road. Then we've got The maple leaves right there. I think that's a home game if I remember correctly Yeah, it's a home game at maple leaf. So not entirely an entire canadian road trip coming back home Just a little bit then we have a road game and a home game on a back-to-back to dallas Then we have the penguins at home We've got a back-to-back with philly in new jersey and then the tampa bay lightning at home And then another back-to-back to start november So colorado already having four back-to-backs in the first first four to five weeks of the season is Pretty crazy already. I think we have something like 11 back-to-backs this season there being 84 games You've got to cram a lot more games in a short space So let's compare how the avs have done so far this season to the rest of the league I know it's a small sample size but We're still gonna take a look So here are the team stats right here listed by points percentage. New york rangers are up at top. That's a surprise to everybody But down at 15th is the colorado avalanche only played two games So they're going to be a little bit lower expected goals for per game is at seven or goals for per game Is that seven goals against per game is at 2.5 Power play percentage is at a 44.4 with a 100 penalty kill Seeing how that stacks up against other teams in the league. It looks like we are doing pretty solid those numbers look pretty good all together Another interesting thing. I noticed if you look in the shootout win column There has yet to be a shootout in any game so far this season. I still just think that's a Pretty interesting thing considering there was a lot of shootouts last season All righty moving on now we're going to look a little bit at goaltenders so here on the goaltender list Mackenzie blackwood is in the eighth slot when it comes to save percentage a 912 and a 2.5 goals against average Pretty solid start for him so far that first game left a lot to be desired But he definitely picked it up in the second game. I'm excited to see how he does I don't know exactly who is in net tonight I would imagine he gets game one since it is the winnipeg jets and he is our starter Then we will probably see wedgewood tomorrow Then it would probably be back to blackwood back at home against the maple leafs But i'd like to see mackenzie blackwood get a much heavier workload this season I'd like to see a lot more consistency from him as well two two for two 57 shots against 252 saves five goals allowed 912 save percentage 2.5 goals average. I think that's pretty impressive for him Also fun fact look up of the top igor shesterkin on top of being one of the best goalies in the league Also as a goal and an assist. He's he had a point streak to start the year fun fact There was actually a point in the season where igish igor shesterkin had more Like had the same amount of goals as the entire dallas stars through the first two games of the season I thought that was a pretty fun thing to say because I don't like the dallas stories Now another fun fact, uh right here not really a fun fact if you're a broncos fan But the colorado avalanche have scored more goals in two games and the denver broncos have scored points in the first half of games This season and for those of you who don't watch football that's pretty sad considering the broncos have played four games and the ants have played two and score increments in football are three six three and six while Hockey it is one. So that's pretty sad for the broncos broncos Definitely need to pick that up in the first half over there now just some quick comparison So goals for leaders in the league right now. The abs are eighth after only two games I think after this next game we'll probably be in that one two three spot right up there. Then we have our shots four per game so far The abs are at 32.5 pretty good start to the season so far didn't know new jersey was at 38 shots per game That's pretty impressive for them, too But if I remember correctly, I don't think new jersey is scoring at a very high rate So when they have that many shots, that's kind of disappointing at the end of that Here's the power play percentages. The abs are currently fourth with a 44.4 Utah mammoth are on a mammoth run on the power play 61.5 Anaheim up there as well one of the other undefeated teams at 50 Winnipeg jets also at 50 so the abs are going to have to use that 100 penalty kill against the winnipeg jets winnipeg also has an 88.9 penalty kill So definitely not bad for them there abs at 100 They need to maintain that and knock down that 50 a little bit while raising that 44% We currently have on the power play.
