Torrential rain triggered significant flooding across parts of Massachusetts, including Cape Cod, leaving roads underwater and businesses scrambling to keep floodwaters out.
Our region has been getting rocked by rain today.
As you can see this scene in Brockton earlier,
just a small sample of Mother Nature's wrath.
Boston 25's Lisa Pappas has been monitoring the mess down in Falmouth.
That is insane. That is particularly bad. Wow.
The water was knee deep at Garrett's gas station
in Falmouth Friday as the downpours flooded roads across town.
Trash barrels floated around the gas pumps
as employees tried to clear drains as quickly as possible.
When I got here, it was still like that.
So yeah, we had about three people.
I was like, whoa, this is crazy. I was like, can I go home now?
A team of people responded to clean the store as floodwaters seeped in,
but luckily nothing was damaged.
We had to close the store for a few hours
because the flooding was like up to a little bit past knee level.
So yeah, no cars could get in and out.
And yeah, it was actually coming in the front of the store as well.
A big issue is the leaves clogging the drains,
so Erin Crosley has been working around the clock to keep
those drains cleared as the rain continues into the night.
Some people that I know, like their houses had water leaking
into the basement and stuff through...
Low windows and stuff towns across the Cape have seen some
of the worst flooding roads forced to close in Bourne until Saturday,
while Winslow Street in Provincetown is washed out.
Falmouth police say they even had flooding inside their police station
while responding to several flooded streets.
It has been cats and dogs and lots of lightning.
Falmouth police say they had to call in all their night shift officers
as soon as possible to respond to all of these weather-related calls,
and police say try to stay off the roads if you can. On scene
in Falmouth, I'm Lisa Pappas for your local station, Boston 25 News.
