It's the Kicking and Screaming Podcast with your host,
the grouchiest sports podcaster
on the Upper East Side, Lou Albanese.
Welcome to Kicking and Screaming.
There's nothing to be grouchy about now because you know why?
The world champion New York Knicks have
been playing basketball for a couple of weeks now.
And last night, they look like the world champion New York Knicks.
So everybody was concerned about the slow start.
Don't be concerned.
I got my guest here is one Mr. Anthony Donoghue, Mr. Anthony MSG.
There is no bigger Knicks fan.
And anybody who has concerns about the Knicks, he will tell you, stop.
What's going on, Lou?
Thank you so much for having me.
And, yeah, there's obviously nobody wanting to start 4-4
or 2-4 for that matter,
but there's definitely nothing,
and I mean nothing to be concerned about.
I mean, in fact, the Knicks started 0-3,
only the second team to win a championship in the last 80 years
to go 0-3 to start a season.
The other team was the Dallas Mavericks in 2011-2012 season
after they won in 2011, first to Miami Heat.
So the Knicks made a little history when they went 0-3.
But there's nothing to be worried about.
The Knicks will be, like I said, with Lisa
on the talkback before we started the show.
I can't guarantee another championship.
But what I can guarantee is come the springtime,
the Knicks will be playing deep in the spring.
They'll be playing Memorial Day weekend.
We'll be playing early June and hopefully late June.
Well, if they play like they played last night, they have no problems.
Now, we know it's the Chicago Bulls.
We know that four and four, three to four wins,
two against the Bulls, once against the Nets,
that should really be a half a win. Yeah, I know.
So they really should be like two and four.
Look, they played the Sixers, and they had to play the Celtics.
These are tough games, especially
when you're coming off a championship hangover.
And they came off a championship hangover.
It's not kiddler.
And the Knicks championship is,
the Knicks winning the championship is way different
than almost any other team winning the championship.
Now, granted, I've never played professional sports.
I would imagine when other teams win a championship,
they probably celebrate for a week or two,
go on vacation, chill, get back to work.
The Knicks celebrated, and rightfully so, till training camp.
Pretty much, yeah.
Pretty much even into training camp at some point.
They had appearances.
They had this.
They had that.
But that is what it's like when you win in New York.
That's why coming to New York and putting on that orange
and blue jersey was such a big deal.
And I think guys like LeBron James, guys like Kevin Durant are looking
at Jalen Brunson and being like, man, that could have been me.
Yeah.
And you know what?
Jalen Brunson, he's the king of New York.
No one complains about Jalen Brunson,
no matter how well or how bad he's playing.
It doesn't matter.
He will always be the king.
I remember when the Rangers won in 94,
Mark Messier was the king,
and Mark can do no wrong.
Mark can do no wrong.
Until finally when he went to Vancouver,
he did a little wrong.
And he came back, and the fans will love him.
And Jalen Brunson will be loved to the day,
I don't know, the end of basketball time.
No matter what happens.
He is the guy.
Like Walker, like Willis, like Derek Jeter.
You know, there's that group of athletes, especially in New York.
When you win the title, Eli,
when you win that championship, you're king.
Joe Namath.
People still talk about Joe Namath.
90% of the people in New York didn't even see him play.
But he's the greatest that ever was because Broadway Joe.
Brought one of the greatest championships.
Look, the Knicks, they're playing great.
We know Jalen Brunson's going to get better.
Other parts of the team, a little shaky at times.
One guy who's playing great, besides Jalen Brunson,
who's now starting to play well,
who I think has had a great season from day one,
the king of the double-double, Karl-Anthony Towns.
Yeah, Cat's been great.
And the thing about Cat, he's taken such a,
not a major reduced role since he's been here,
but he knows that Jalen Brunson is number one.
And I was a big fan of Julius Randle, but, you know.
Julius Randle still wanted to be number one when Jalen was here.
Again, not even knocking Julius, where Cat knows this is Jalen's team.
And Cat, you know, he does so much on the basketball court,
on both sides of the ball, scoring, rebounding, defense.
Karl-Anthony Towns has been incredible.
Do you worry anything about the contract?
Does that come to your mind?
This whole...
Doling and holding the contracts back.
Do you think that's something that
could affect them as the year goes on?
No, no.
And I think Cat will be back.
I think they'll come to some sort of agreement,
whether it's the full max or a little less.
Also...
I think when you win a championship in New York,
there's so much more money you're going to make
and stay in a Nick that you wouldn't make
if you signed with, you know, no disrespect,
probably any other team,
maybe other than maybe like the Lakers,
that, you know, all that off-the-court money.
So I think Karl will be a Nick for the foreseeable future.
I'd be shocked.
You know what? People don't understand that.
You know, we talk about the cap league,
you know, baseball's going through it right now
with this whole, you know, salary cap,
yes or no, this and that.
It's what you make when you win
a championship like what Jalen has done and what Karl-Anthony
Towns has done.
The money you can make off the court
is more than you can make on sometimes.
Insanity.
I mean, you got Jose Alvarez.
You got...
Listen, you got Tyler Kolek.
Love Tyler Kolek.
He played 30 seconds in the finals, if that, actually.
And he's doing appearances.
So, I mean, that's why even if you don't get the full, full max,
you should still stay in New York.
You will be fine.
Your grandkids, grandkids, grandkids, grandkids will be fine.
There was a thing the other day.
The top five paid NBA players.
Okay.
For all these people who say about the cap and, oh,
we're going to suppress earnings
and all this other BS that goes with it.
Okay.
It was, LeBron was on it, and I think the Greek freak was on it,
and Anthony Edwards was number five,
I think LeBron might have been four, Giannis was number three,
somebody, I forget who was number two, but number one was Steph Curry.
On and off the court, Steph Curry makes,
remember, talk about championships.
I can't even imagine.
Championships now.
And he's won four of them.
He's got four of them.
Yep.
Right?
Four of them.
And he makes 203, this year, $203 million.
That's just insane.
That is what he's bringing in.
Okay?
So can we stop this whole BS about caps?
What the whole thing is, is that once you win that title,
and you are the face, and right now Jalen Brunson is,
there's so much for you to keep holding on to.
And why Steph makes 203 and others did
not is because he's won multiple championships.
And he's the face of that franchise.
And he's the face of that franchise.
So when you're Jalen Brunson, you don't just accept one.
There's so much more.
And it's not about money.
And he's not going to.
And it's not about money.
We already know that he's not about money because he took less money.
We all know that.
He took less money to stay with the Knicks,
and I wouldn't be surprised if he does it again
because he wants the titles.
But there's so much to gain by keeping it going.
You know, you just can't become a fat cat
and say, I got my one and that's it.
You got to keep going because that's what separates
the goods from the greats.
And the greats from the immortals.
And, you know, you mentioned the Mavs team.
Man, could you imagine a second championship in New York,
though, for JL?
Whether it's this year, next year, or the year after.
Knicks did it back in the 70s.
Yeah, and the Knicks, they won in 1970, didn't win for a few years,
then won again in 73.
And that's what happens.
Just because they don't win this year
doesn't mean they can't do it again.
Oh, I could see something.
I hope we win this year.
But I could see something like that happening.
Maybe the Knicks don't win it this year, but then right back at it
and win it the year after.
Right, because that's what happens.
You build that winning culture.
That's what sports is all about, a winning culture.
And it's all sports, baseball, football, basketball, hockey.
In Kansas City, in football, the Chiefs have a winning culture.
They struggled last year.
They make a move.
Now they're back on top.
Great teams, winning teams are always there.
It's funny how winning seems to follow certain players.
It followed Michael Jordan when he was in basketball,
then he went to baseball, and it came back.
Funny, the winning followed him right back.
It follows LeBron, whether we like him or not, it follows LeBron.
And Brunson is that winning player.
Winning follows Brunson.
And you'll see how as soon as he came here,
the Knicks went to a new level.
And I believe they're going to stay
at that level, and it's all because of him.
And remember, Jalen Brunson won a championship in high school
at Stevenson High School in Chicago.
He won two championships in college, and now he's won
and led the New York Knicks to an NBA championship.
And as you said, yes, winning absolutely follows Jalen Brunson.
And that's important.
It's important because we've seen it, like I said,
with Derek Jeter and with Eli Manning.
The question is, I'm not 100% sure
if that is the case for all the Knicks.
Now, the sole, we've heard about it,
the second apron and the salary cap situation,
and I don't blame owner James Dolan for this because there's
so many restrictions that go with it.
It's not about the money.
James Dolan has spent the money.
You look at what all five guys are making, and it's astronomical.
It's the restrictions that go in.
So they may have to make that move.
Would you be adverse as a Knick fan?
You see that starting five, how important is it?
I say they should try to move Mikkel Bridges to free up the money.
Now,
whether or not someone will take his money is a whole different thing.
Yeah, Mikal Bridges does have a huge contract.
I don't think there's any Knick fan that would have any issue
with moving on from Mikal Bridges.
There's times where he's great.
There was times in the playoffs he was great.
There was times in the finals he was great.
Also, remember, he was great in those games one and two in Boston.
In 2025, to me, those were his stories.
And his defense is better than his offense.
Correct.
And he made two great defensive plays in those games.
And I know we didn't win a championship in 2025,
but that series versus Celtics for the Knicks players, organization,
and the fans was so paramount and important.
That said, I don't think there's any Knicks fans that would be upset
if we eventually moved on from Mikal Bridges.
You know, it's funny.
I don't want to go into the rabbit hole,
but we talk about this second apron.
And we see what's going on with baseball right now.
Yeah.
And the salary cap and the fight they're having.
I think in two years, after two seasons,
they could reopen the collective bargaining agreement in the NBA.
And I could see that second apron becoming a problem.
Yeah.
Maybe they'll be gone.
I'm not really sure.
Well, I think that might be a fight.
That's going to be a big fight for the players.
Yeah, because why should you be penalized?
Why should teams like OKC or even the Knicks be penalized
for making smart and good decisions?
Why should you be penalized for that?
Especially now, granted...
This Knicks championship team isn't all draft picks
from the Knicks. But, you know, bringing up a team like
OKC, they've drafted so many of their
great players. Why should they be penalized
for putting a great team together?
Or even if you trade for
great players, you shouldn't have to be penalized
because you made good moves.
You know how it works. The cap, they want you to go
a certain level. Everyone goes beyond the cap.
And those things are there.
But I think that could be the next big.
After this baseball fight, and who knows how long that's going to last,
I think that might be the next battle.
Because I think that second apron is actually a hard cap.
And that's something I think the players are going to fight for.
But that's two years down the road.
We'll worry about that then.
We'll worry about that then.
Today, though, because of the second cap, you have to worry about,
and this might be that year, if you're James Dolan saying,
I'm all in for this year, these guys are going all in.
And I got a feeling this even might be more pressure on the Knicks.
To be another championship, because
you don't know what's going to happen
in the next couple of years with Kat's contract,
with Josh Hart's contract,
or I'd be shocked if he left.
And, of course, we still have to worry about Brunson
and OG being re-signed.
So how important is it with this group on the court right now,
knowing all these questions are going to come up,
and we don't want to think about it, but they're going to come up,
how important is it for them to really make another run for that title
with this group?
Because it may not be together next year.
I think it's very important.
I think, you know, you can only control what you can control.
The players aren't in the front office,
so the players just got to play.
And I think it's very important that they go
on a deep playoff run this year.
And also to show it's not a fluke.
Now, granted, you can win the championship,
and if you don't make the playoffs next year, it's not a fluke.
A championship is a championship, and banners live and hang forever.
I'm sorry about that.
But.
For the sake of that, I need the Knicks to go deep this spring
to show last year was not any sort of fluke.
And trust me, the Knicks will go deep this spring.
I'm not going to guarantee a championship,
but we will be going deep this spring, no doubt.
We ask people, listen, we're live on TikTok,
we are live on YouTube, we are live on Fox Local.
Please send your questions in, anything you ask, we will touch base.
Right now, our friend, he's our favorite viewer,
Steve's House of Collectibles.
The problem with the Knicks as well as the Mets,
Rangers, Jets, the team I root for all seem...
have probably a problem sustaining winning cultures.
Well, so far, the Knicks have been sustaining it now,
really, since Tibbs got here, since Leon got here,
Leon Rose, Worldwide West, William Wesley,
hiring Tom Thibodeau, bringing in Jalen Brunson.
The list goes on.
So the Knicks, to me, have been sustaining
a winning culture now since 2020.
That's a long time.
That's six, seven years now already.
And that's what it is.
Front office comes in.
They create.
The winning culture, you're bringing winning players.
Everybody remembers before, you know,
everybody complained about Brunson,
but he had a nice little playoff run when the Mavs went to the finals.
Yes, he did. Remember, Luka was there.
Without him, there's no final run.
Correct.
And you saw then what a playoff run he is and what kind of player.
And he has that, like we talked about in college and high school.
And it's so important to bring in winning players.
You know, Cat and the Wolves, they went
to the Western Conference Finals.
Yep.
You know, Josh Hart, again.
He was part of the Villanova groups.
He's been on winning teams.
Does all the little things on the basketball court.
I think it's so important.
And Mikal went to the finals with the Suns.
It's so...
And OG went to the finals with the Raptors in 2019.
Wow, look at that.
Five players on the Knicks all have finals runs
and championships in college.
So it's not a fluke that this group...
won a championship because they already had the
pedigree behind them. Not a fluke at all.
And I think Leon Rose understood that
and I think it's so important to know that
and I think this Knicks team has that. I agree.
They absolutely do. And they're
a joy to watch and
like I said, they're going to be okay.
I would be shocked if they reeled off
12 of the next 15 games.
i think the key is is that right now they just need
to get out of that mode of uh okay the rings
and this and that i know they're slowly getting out of there
and then maybe tonight is the moment
So we all know that Jalen's going to make his TV debut as an actor,
his acting debut, because he actually plays a role.
It's not just him coming in and saying, I'm Jalen Brunson.
Yeah, so I wasn't sure if, like, I believe he plays Detective Madison.
Yeah, Detective Madison.
Which is great, Madison Square Garden.
That's exactly it.
I thought he was going to play himself.
Right, exactly.
I was like, oh, Jalen Brunson makes a cameo.
Exactly.
But it looks like he plays a detective, apparently.
And that's cool, because it's more than just, you know.
Him just being himself.
Yeah.
But maybe now once this airs and the TV is done and the credits roll,
maybe that'll put last year aside
and we can now start thinking of just this year.
I think that's what the Knicks need.
The Knicks need to start thinking about just this year.
Dun, dun, dun, dun.
Yeah, put the commercials aside.
It's time to put it together.
Take a break until the spring, the summer.
Okay.
So we talk about the Knicks.
Next week, who's, who is, who.
You've seen all the players.
Who are the guys you think?
aren't performing as well as they are and have to lift their game,
and who are the guys who have really jumped out at you
of how they've performed so far at the beginning of the season?
I mean, as far as lift their game,
obviously we all need to see some more from Mikal Bridges,
Deuce McBride, I'd say.
He played pretty well last night,
but I'd like to see some more from Deuce.
You know, Jordan Clarkson, he's been great.
You know, he does...
It's funny, he came in as a guy known as kind of like a chucker almost,
and with the Knicks, he's almost been like a utility player.
He does a little bit of everything, and of course,
OG Anunoby's played really well.
Karl-Anthony Towns has played well.
And the last few games, Jalen Brunson has started to play a lot better.
Okay, we're going to go to break.
We're not done with the championship yet.
It's still early.
You were there that night, all right,
as a lifelong, as you say, Knicks fan.
You were there the night they put the banner up.
It's one thing to watch the – you talked about what it was like for you
when they got in, they won the title.
But I'm going to talk to you about what it was like for you
when that moment came up and you saw that banner come up, all right?
We're going to go to break.
When we come back, we're going to be talking about your –
our man Anthony's personal experience of winning
Winning and seeing his championship team
Raise the banner at Madison Square Garden.
We'll come back.
All right, welcome back.
New York Knicks is a topic.
Everyone likes to talk about the Knicks.
They're going to be talked about for years to come.
We all know that.
This year, we think the Knicks are going to be fine.
And we're going to try to put the championship in the rearview mirror.
But before we do that, I'd be remiss.
I'm here with my friend, good friend, Anthony MSG.
Anthony, down to you.
You are a...
The banner raising ceremony.
Lifelong Knicks fan.
You talked about earlier on Newsroom Live
how emotional you were when they won the championship.
What were your emotions when you saw that banner
raised to the rafters?
Just that whole night was very emotional.
Going into it, even just days before,
I was, like, psyching myself up.
And, you know...
As positive as I am as a Knicks fan, of course,
there was times where I thought maybe even this Knicks team,
maybe they'll get to the conference finals.
What if we never win a championship?
What if we just get close a bunch
of times like my heroes in the 90s did?
So being there that night and, you know, seeing
the championship banner go up, I get choked up talking about it even
because it's just like I wanted it so bad.
I almost felt like since I was eight years old,
it's been something I've been fighting for.
You know what I mean?
I wanted this so bad to finally see it happen,
to finally see that banner raised in my lifetime.
It was one of the most incredible experiences in my life.
For me personally, to have a year that I had,
you know, I got engaged, I had a daughter,
and, you know, so many things have happened in my life.
Like everybody, you've been through things.
But you had some nice things in your life.
Of course.
And that's wonderful.
Six years ago, I lost my little sister, who was everything to me.
And then, you know, all this happened between
the Knicks winning the championship,
getting engaged, having a daughter, seeing the banner go up.
It was just so overwhelming, but it was amazing.
And I cherish every second of it.
I try not to be on my phone and record too much,
and I just wanted to be so present, and I definitely was.
And it was one of the most incredible nights of my life.
Wish we won the game, but I'm not tripping about that at all.
No, the game itself was secondary.
I think every time a team raises the banner,
I don't care what sport it is,
they usually lose.
They usually lose.
It's too emotional for the players.
I agree.
I mean, these guys, it's like, oh, my God, they understand.
That's the thing.
I think Jalen, maybe because his dad played here,
and I think the other guys fully understood
what it meant for this city to win an NBA title.
And then when it happened, it was even bigger for them.
Yeah, I agree.
I think it's such a big event, such a big moment,
how it just engulfed the city in such a positive way.
I was alive for the first two titles.
I will say this.
I was alive for the two championships,
but I wasn't a basketball fan.
So I didn't see the championships.
I didn't see the banners raised.
Back then, it was hard anyhow.
You know, MSG wasn't on.
You didn't have tape delay and all that other BS.
So I got to watch it with my son, who's a huge Knicks fan.
Probably of all his sports, that's his team.
And it was really emotional.
I felt the same emotions you talked about.
I wasn't in the arena, but I was watching it with my son,
which I wanted to do.
And he was excited and emotional, and we got to watch that moment.
And the two of us, you could feel the emotions.
You could feel people.
Like, you almost wanted to cry in a positive way.
It was really, really a beautiful night.
Yeah, it was.
A beautiful night.
Just seeing how the city was.
And I always told people, I remember when I used to work at ESPN Radio,
for example, this is back in 2004 to, like, 2008,
And I would tell people.
A lot of people that worked there weren't necessarily from New York.
Sure.
And I would say, listen, I know the Knicks stink right now.
But when the Knicks are good, there's nothing like it.
You know, more than the Yankees, the Mets,
the Giants, the Jets, the Rangers.
And people would be like, Anthony, you're crazy.
I would love to see some of those people right now.
And they'd be like, wow, that Anthony guy 20 years ago, he was right.
Because, yes, back then the Knicks did suck.
But I said, just wait.
When this team gets good, nothing will be like it in this town.
And you saw that last spring.
I said this last year to people, and people didn't believe it.
I said, no, no, forget about the Yankees.
Forget about the Giants.
Forget about all that.
Oh, come on, come on, it's baseball.
I said, no.
You don't understand.
In this city, the Knicks are king.
Yep.
And.
They're king when they're not winning.
Yes.
Forget about when they won.
And I think everyone realized that those as well,
wow, you were right.
People were shocked how big and how the city reacted to their title.
I think people were just absolutely shocked.
I saw it the most also when I first started doing Knicks content,
like 2005, 2006, and again, working there,
you would just say Stephon Marbury.
You'd do Yankees talk for an hour,
then just say Stephon Marbury, and the phones would...
And it's Stephon Marbury.
And it would be in August.
It would be in August.
People just want to talk Knicks.
And this was not good teams.
Terrible teams, to be honest.
When you bring up Stephon Marbury, that was a bad Knicks team.
Those teams stunk, but people wanted to talk about it.
People wanted to figure out how can we become good?
How can we be 500?
How can we?
There'd be Knicks fans 20, 23 years ago in August talking about,
you know, maybe we can win 43 games and be an 8th seed.
And they'd be so excited about that.
Oh, excited to get in there.
And guess what?
We usually didn't even win 43 games.
No, we didn't even get the 8th seed.
And then that was the case.
So we saw it engulfed.
I mean, when I say engulfed, it's just like the entire city.
It just was unbelievable.
Everybody was a Knicks fan.
And that's the thing with the Knicks.
In this city, everybody is a Knicks fan.
There's no offense to the team in Brooklyn.
They're a nice little squad.
I mean, but they are what they are.
But it really is hard to fathom with Mets
and Yankees and Jets and Giants.
Because there's a lot of Yankee fans, Mets fans, Giants and Jets.
Even Rangers and Islanders.
I remember that battle in the 70s.
And it was such a split.
So it can't ever be the same as the Knicks
because everyone's a Knicks fan.
And then you know what happens when you win a championship.
People who are not sports fans become sports fans.
And everyone jumps on and they love it.
And everybody gets involved with it.
All the celebrities, they act like that.
And then everybody who's never been a guard in their lives says,
I've always been a Knicks fan.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It's all the same BS.
The real Knicks fans, and I'm sure you were not the only one.
I was saying, what was the arena like
for the fans and the people in there?
What was it like?
What was the feeling inside that arena?
On banner night?
On banner night.
I would say relief, healing the trauma,
healing the trauma of all we've been through as Knicks fans,
whether it's the heartbreaks in the 90s,
the dog years from 2001 to 2021 where the team just was not good.
This is not good.
Yeah.
It was relief.
Like I said, it really healed so much trauma in my life.
why I'll be rooting for the Knicks
Saturday night in Cleveland, but
that's the only thing I miss, is that
I'm not even that fiery right now
because of what that championship did.
And it's a beautiful thing, though.
I'll get it back, though.
As the season goes on, you're going to start feeling it more and more.
And fans will feel it more and more.
Mike Brown, he's done a great job.
He's been great.
He's been great.
He's been great.
I love Tibs, but Mike's been great.
It took me a while to...
I'm looking at this team.
They made no changes other than we lost Mitchell Robinson.
Yeah, brought in Drummond.
He's been okay.
And they made a little deeper, maybe a little deeper.
When you look at this team,
even though it's the same group pretty much in the team last year,
is it better at all?
Has it gotten better at all?
I can't say it's better yet, but, you know,
come January, February, it could be.
But right now, that's TBD to be determined if the team is better.
Mitchell Robinson, how much of a loss?
We definitely miss him a lot.
The thing is, you know, the best of...
The best ability is availability.
And unfortunately, so many times,
Mitchell Robinson wasn't available.
Now, he was in the playoffs all last spring,
and I love him for that.
But we definitely miss Mitch.
All the things he did from defense,
offensive rebounds, defensive rebounding.
We miss Mitchell Robinson a lot.
So Andre Drummond does a little bit of that.
But Mitch was so active.
We miss him so much.
You know where I saw it?
The two games against Philadelphia was a perfect example.
I mean, we saw Maxi.
They were driving to the hoop.
And it seemed like they were getting...
I don't want to say non-contest.
They're going to be out for blood.
There was a non-contest situation there.
So we saw Philly, we saw Boston,
we talked about how the Knicks lost to them.
We know who the East is.
I think the East has gotten better.
Who in the East worries you the most?
I would say if they're healthy, the Sixers, for sure.
If they're healthy with Jalen Brown, LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey,
VJ Edgecombe, and Embiid even, if they're healthy, they're a threat.
They're a threat.
They're a little deeper, too, than I thought.
They're deep.
I was surprised.
If they're healthy, they are a threat.
When I saw them opening night, my first reaction
was they got five starters and nobody.
No, they didn't.
Then I saw a couple guys, Tyrese Pope.
He came off.
There was a couple guys that came off the bench.
They said, okay, maybe.
I just think I would worry if I'm a Philly fan, and I'm not, obviously.
Looking at the Knicks, the one thing I look at,
as much as LeBron is God,
you know eventually his body's going to fail.
You saw him last year break down.
What LeBron's done in his career, especially the last few years,
has been amazing.
We may never see anything like that ever again.
And Embiid is not exactly.
But all the time is undefeated.
And Embiid has never been a guy who plays 80 games.
No.
Embiid hasn't been great in a long time.
But that's it.
They can figure it out to be healthy.
Maybe LeBron takes a couple weeks off in the middle of the season.
I don't know.
But if they can be healthy come playoff time,
they're definitely a threat.
They definitely are.
And in Boston now, they changed over.
Jalen Brown's gone.
Paul George in.
It's more Jason Tatum now.
You know, Paul George with the secondary role.
You know, can he make it through the season?
Big question there, too.
But they'll be a threat as well.
Always respect to the Celtics.
You know, Derek White's a really good player.
They're well coached.
So they're a team that could definitely be there
come the springtime as well.
And a team you mentioned, they're playing Saturday, Cleveland.
I know that was the Eastern Conference Finals.
After that game one.
I don't look at Cleveland as anything.
I mean, to be up 22 points with seven minutes left
in game one of the Conference Finals and to blow that,
you should never even play the next three games.
I mean, I just.
That was embarrassing.
When you look at, when you look at.
Like Toronto, everybody's concerned about Toronto.
Kawhi's already hurt.
I know, and they gave him the same contract.
Indiana was this great team.
Halliburton's already out.
Halliburton's hurting, and now all of a sudden,
the Nets beat them on Sunday with Halliburton.
By the way, I need to beat Halliburton and the Pacers in the playoffs.
That's one thing I'll be hungry for come the springtime.
Of course, I'll be hungry.
I want to win again.
Of course.
No, I know what you mean.
But I need to beat the Pacers.
How many people?
It's amazing how they talk.
I hate the Pacers.
How many people in the offseason said,
well, you know, if Halliburton was there,
and that's the Knicks kryptonite.
And it's like you want to beat them because so many people said,
well, you know,
they didn't have to go through the team that always beats them.
And that be it.
Oh, they didn't have to play Detroit.
They couldn't play Detroit last year.
They lost.
And they didn't have to play Detroit.
It doesn't matter who you have to play.
The point is,
You play what you play.
And you win.
Detroit had a home game seven in their gym versus the Cavs
and couldn't finish the job.
And you saw the Knicks.
Detroit could be there at the end, too.
Cade Cunningham's a great player.
That was a good sign when I saw the Knicks.
It was.
When I saw the Knicks beat them down,
I felt like they're thinking the same thing you and I,
what we just talked about just now.
People saying it.
All right, they're giving me the finger.
We're going to wrap it up.
But as a fan, I got to beat the Pacers, though.
I got to beat them.
They're wrapping up.
Anthony, where can they see your work?
Follow me on social media, all platforms, AnthonyMSG.
Okay.
Anthony knows all basketball.
Any Knicks fan that was concerned about whether
or not they were going to be good this year,
I think hopefully Anthony basically told you all, relax.
He gave you his old Aaron Rodgers line.
That's right.
Relax.
Thank you for coming, man.
Thank you, Lou.
Appreciate you.
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
And like I said, go Knicks.
It's going to be fun.
