Burgers with Buck: Reid's Deli

Well, it is election season and the people have spoken. Of course, we're talking about burgers with Buck. What else, right? We asked you where to find the best dive bar burger in all of metro Atlanta. And not only was the response overwhelming. I bet. There was a runaway winner. All right, this week, Burgers with Buck, we're in Mableton. We're at Reed's Deli, hanging out with Lisa. How are you? Good, thank you. I got to set this up a little bit, though. So, a few weeks ago, I put out on social media, I'm looking for the best dive bar burgers in Metro Atlanta. And I got a lot of responses. But far and away, the one that was recommended the most Well, it's where we sit today, Reed's Deli here in Mableton. So how does that make you feel? It makes me feel good. Of course, our customers are amazing. They support us in everything we do. It doesn't surprise me that they recommended us so much on your post. They love this place. They love the burger. What is a dive bar? Well. Well... Pretty much. Yeah, pretty much. Just a local. I would consider it just a local, kind of dark, kind of smoky, just a local place where everybody feels comfortable hanging out and enjoying themselves. That's what you said. The one thing about this place is everybody feels comfortable. People you may not assume would get along and hang out, but they come here and do. From 8 to 80. 8 to 80. I love that. I love that. All right, so a quick history lesson, because this place is not brand new. I know this has not always been in this location, but give us kind of a little timeline of how we got to today and how long Reed's Deli's been around. The Reed family started Reed's Restaurant here in Mableton back in 1965. It evolved when Flip Reed owned it into Reed's Deli around 1982, I believe. And then it was sold. to a third party for just a couple years, and then we purchased it in 2011. So it's just a good time. Local people, cold beer, and good burgers. There you go. Well, you just segued into what we came to talk about. I could talk about all of this all day long. Let's talk about this burger, though. So this thing is popular. It's called the All-American Burger. I said, first of all, I noticed it's not a smash patty, is it? It is not. Build this thing for us. Half pound. Half pound. Half pound. Always fresh, never frozen, beef patty served with some pretty dang good french fries. Yeah, no, I've already, I snuck one. They are really good. Those are always fresh cut as well. Why do you think people are, why are people so passionate about this burger? Because what I see here is just a burger that's fresh. Got kind of basic ingredients, but done really well. And I don't mean cooked well. I mean done well. That's kind of what made me nervous when everybody started recommending us on your post because it's just a burger. It's just nothing fancy, no frills. It's just a home-cooked burger with some fresh-cut fries, and it is just a hit. It's a hit. I'll be the judge of that, Lisa. You'll be the judge of that. I'll be the judge of that. It's a hit to me. Okay, well, you know what? I'm ready to find out if it's a hit. Okay. The All-American Burger. I'm going to hand this to you. All right? It's all yours, Lisa. You can hack what you can. So it comes the way. But if you want to add mustard, it doesn't come with mustard and ketchup. Right, you add it. You add it if you want. I'm going to add a little mustard. And keep that napkin handy because that's a juicy burger. Oh, yeah. Now, listen. I was going to get cocky and say it's not my first burger, but I could very well ruin a shirt here if I'm not careful. Here it is, the All-American Burger from Reed's Deli. I'm told the best dive bar burger in Metro Atlanta. That's right. There you go. Here we go. So the thing about a burger, a lot of times when you take that first bite, It can take you back to the backyard or it can take you back to, and this is one of those that takes you back to some moment in life. Yep. I got you. One of these fries will probably give you the verdict. It's easy, Lisa. It's easy. Thank you guys so much. Oh, thank you. We were thrilled to have you. All right. One other thing, though, they're also having an event called Rock for Tots on December 12th and 13th. They'll have live bands all day, both days, and it is a benefit for Toys for Tots. Oh, what a great cause. One of my favorites. Reed's Deli is on Veterans Memorial Highway. It is in Mableton. They're open Monday through Thursday from 1130 until 11. They stay open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and they're open from 1230 to 8 on Sundays. And that was a lot. We have it on our website in case you forget. Pool tables, you know, bands.
