AI GeneratedDetroit non-profit I Like Me Incorporated is hosting a \"couple's date night\" event to raise funds for families in need. The initiative focuses on providing essential winter clothing and housing support for the underprivileged in the Detroit community, combining charitable giving with beauty and wellness experiences.
For a warmish winter this year, it looks like.
But that doesn't erase the need to provide
a nice coat, hat, or pair of boots.
All the needs for kids.
You can help keep them warm and enjoy a romantic night out.
Yes, we're pulling out all the stops.
Detroit non-profit I Like Me Incorporated
is hosting a couple's date night for good cause.
I've got Diamond Reynolds and a Big Green Egg.
BGE is what I'm going to call it.
BGE on the couch to really talk about how couples,
but not only just couples, singles,
everyone can come out and really contribute, give back.
Why is it so important?
Well, it's so important because I see the need
and I know the need that is out here in our community.
I am from.
You know the east side of Detroit. So I went through tough times
and needing coats and hats and winter boots.
And so I have again I have been seeing it and helping people.
And I want to tell you a story.
Last winter I met a young mom who was homeless.
And she had three young children, and they were living in their car.
And the youngest baby, she was a six-month-old baby.
And it just broke my heart to know that there's
a six-month-old baby living in the car during the winter months.
And we have so much wealth in the world,
but we have a baby living in the car.
So I jumped into action to try to help her to get help,
to get shelter, to get food, clothing.
And I, you know, reached out to family
and friends to try to get some resources.
Some stepped up to the call, including Karen Tweedy,
who is helping with the event.
She helped, and a couple other family and friends helped.
But some ignored me, and some asked questions.
You know, some of the questions were, well, where was her baby daddy,
and how did she get homeless, and all the things that don't matter.
It didn't matter at all, and my response was, I don't know,
because it wasn't my responsibility to investigate and try to,
you know, beat her down while she's already on the floor.
So I had...
I stepped up to try to help her, and now,
thank God, she does have a warm home, fully
furnished, thanks to, between me, my husband,
and Karen Tweedy, we came together to put
furniture in her home,
all the things that you need to start over with a new home, kitchen,
knick-knacks, tissue, paper towel, everything, clothes.
So, um...
And thank God right now that that mom, she has now earned her GED and
now is in nursing classes.
So we can't just look and talk down on people.
When we don't know their situation.
Yeah, I want to get to because we're running out
of time here in terms of just because
that's just one example.
There's so many people in here
and now a couple is that everyone can come out and be a part
of it.
And it's not just like a giving back.
You guys have put on a pretty cool twist here.
So talk to me about because we have this cool holiday basket here.
What are they going to be doing when they come out?
How can they kind of get involved?
This is a little engaging.
Yeah.
So we have a beauty studio in Livonia.
So Karen Tweedy is putting on this event.
And so couples and singles and really anybody can grab your mom,
your sister can come out
and experience beauty sessions so you can do facials,
makeovers, satin hands treatments.
Do lip treatments and you can do some holiday shopping.
So we've got stocking stuffers, all kinds of stuff.
And then a portion of all the proceeds goes back
to the I Like Me charity, which we love
supporting with all the good things that Diamond was just referring to.
Again, helping families, moms, just as Diamond was mentioning.
Good calls.
Fellas, you can get involved too, okay?
Your skincare is important as well.
That information we'll have on our website as well.
Ladies, thank you so much.
