Video Summary
AI GeneratedA cold front is moving through Central Florida, bringing a welcome end to recent flooding and high humidity. While river levels remain elevated in several areas, the upcoming weekend promises dry, pleasant weather ideal for outdoor activities. A significant temperature drop is expected by the middle of next week, signaling a shift in the seasonal weather pattern.
Brooks joins us right now. Okay, water starting to go down over there.
They're gonna have a good weekend. You hate to say this, but it's good.
We can actually start cleaning things up over there.
Absolutely. We're gonna have low humidity,
no significant rain in the forecast at all.
We've got a big cold front sweeping through, so we won't have
that tropical air available that fueled this horrible event on Monday.
And it's gonna make for a really nice weekend
for any outdoor activities.
You may open the windows and doors of some of the houses.
That'd be nice. That's a good idea.
This weekend we got the big air show at Kennedy Space Center.
So many events around the area outside of
The flood story, but you know, back
to this river levels are going to be rising.
We've been talking about this on the St. John's.
All that water's got to go somewhere.
It flows from from south to north
and major flooding on the St. John's near Cocoa.
Here's Cocoa.
This won't be in downtown Cocoa.
This is going to be well west of I-95.
But it will impact a couple of communities with a flood stage.
It'll be about a foot and a quarter,
maybe a foot and a half above flood stage.
So water will start approaching the Silver Pine subdivision
on the westernmost side of that subdivision.
And Providence Road impassable,
so no access to Mullet Lane and Bass Road.
There is a little neighborhood there right on the St. Johns River.
A lot of the homes there are up on stilts.
They've flooded before and they're going to flood again
in this situation with the water rising maybe about 6
to 12 inches above the level of the road there.
So be very careful.
Otherwise, we're going to see river rises from Astor.
We'll
be right
back.
Also elevated in some locations.
Minor flooding at DeLand, low impacts at Sanford.
Minor flooding, could see a little bit
of wash over on Seminole Boulevard.
But also affecting Stone Island on Lake Monroe,
over on the DeLand side,
where the access road may inundate with a couple inches of water.
Not in the homes, but just on the road there.
In Lake Harney, a moderate impact with medium.
Medium impacts, so moderate flood stage, medium impacts.
So, again, not Hurricane Ian, but high water, some of the access roads,
a lot of the boat ramps, the docks will be inundated.
Well, we've got some fog across north Florida this morning,
but otherwise looking pretty good here across central Florida.
Fog dissipating toward daybreak.
Dense fog advisory for the Gainesville area,
including Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy counties.
Points north on Dixie County as well.
Steinhatchee right now.
We've got a little bit of light fog out there,
but here's a look at downtown Orlando where it's 70 degrees and clear.
We've got 68 now in DeLand, 71 degrees in Titusville.
Pleasant morning, a warm day on the way today.
The weather story, cold front coming in tonight,
and that's going to change our weather pattern
for the better part of the next 7 to 10 days.
A couple of showers offshore in response to the approaching cold front,
but those should stay offshore,
so we'll see a dry forecast this morning.
70 degrees at the bus stop as the kids head out,
but about 84 this afternoon.
To about 87 for highs, 20% chance for rain at 3.
Overall, about a 30% chance for a few showers this afternoon.
A look at our future clouds and radar.
There's a possibility of a little bit
of shower activity later this morning along I-75.
Maybe from Claremont to Bushnell up into Wildwood and the villages.
Not unlike yesterday.
We'll see how that all transpires.
Nothing on the radar this morning, though.
It's not like yesterday.
A couple of stray showers here in eastern Orange County.
Possible this afternoon, maybe a downpour in Orlando, we'll see.
Overall, though, this front looks to pass dry.
There's not as much moisture available,
not as many dynamics in the atmosphere to get
the rain kicking off, but what it will do is bring
in this very nice air with low humidity
coming in to the region, low humidity on the way tomorrow,
and then cooling temperatures
progressively as we head into the middle of next week.
It'll be a noticeable change.
86 in Bushnells today, 87 in Bithlow, 86 at Winter Haven.
Temperatures running about 5 to 6 degrees above normal.
Right now, the dew points are hovering around 70,
and so this is kind of a muggy morning
considering the time of the year.
By the way, in the tropics, we were tracking
that disturbance south of Bermuda.
It's heading out to the middle of the Atlantic,
and it's a much lower chance to develop.
Earlier, it looked like tropical storm
or subtropical storm Kyle could develop, but
that may not happen.
Hurricane season lasting officially until
the end of this month, so we've only got a
couple more weeks to go.
86 degrees today, drier and more beautiful weather
for this weekend, great weather for
any outdoor activities.
And then Veterans Day is on Wednesday.
It'll be about 77 degrees.
Chance for a shower.
Look at these temperatures, though.
Mid-70s for highs toward the middle of the end of next week.
That means we're going to see lows in the 50s outside of Orlando.
All right, let's get to our snap of the sun this morning.
A shot here from David Felty of New Smyrna Beach.
A beautiful sunrise.
And notice that little flare in the clouds above the sun.
That's called a 22-degree halo.
And it's all about...
The refraction of sunlight through the ice crystals high in the sky.
And it just so happens to be the shape
of the water molecule ice crystal creates a 22 degree refraction.
So you have this like perfect ring 22 degrees away from the sun.
Pretty neat to see.
