All right. Right now, we want to talk a little bit about Russell Brand
from a Hollywood comedian and actor to a courtroom in London.
We have Devin Rall, senior producer with TMZ joining us now.
He has been charged with rape and sexual assault.
And, you know, when I was doing a little bit of research on this,
Devin, I forgot that he was married to Katy Perry.
Yeah, to be honest, that's kind of what I almost know him more for.
I mean, obviously, he's in a lot of famous movies.
And then more recently,
he's been accused of a bunch of terrible sexual misconduct allegations.
So, yeah, like you said, he was in court and was officially charged
by a jury for one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
He now is going to be sitting in prison over the weekend
and he will be sentenced on Monday.
One day, so we'll find out.
How long he's going to be in prison.
And so what are some of those details?
I mean, without getting a little too graphic,
what are exactly are they saying he did?
Yeah.
So these women, there are several women that made these allegations
against him dating back to the early 2000s, you know, 20, 15 years ago.
Basically accusing him of rape and a different
and sodomy and different sexual misconduct.
They went to cops and obviously the cops have been investigating.
Actually, the Metro Police actually released
the interviews they did with Russell Brand.
There's about eight minutes of interview clips
that they released where he basically was just detailing that,
you know, standing that he never sexually assaulted anyone,
that, yes, he used to be very promiscuous.
In his sex life, but he never assaulted anyone,
but clearly the jury didn't buy it.
And so he's being sentenced soon.
Yeah, so it's a little different.
Obviously, in the United States, sentencing takes a lot longer.
But yeah, I guess over in the UK,
so he wanted to get out on bail over the weekend. It was denied
by the judge. So he will then be sentenced on Monday.
All the judge would say is that it was
going to be a substantial sentence.
It looks like he could potentially face life in prison
or anywhere between four and 19 years is what I read.
So obviously, he's 51. So
that's a big chunk of his life.
Yeah, definitely is. But also a chunk of the people's life
that he offended and affected and hurt.
And I was looking at him. He and Katy Perry got married in 2010.
So it's a little bit after all of this happened.
Yeah, I don't think they've been close for years.
It's interesting.
I guess he currently has a wife, and she stood by him.
She was actually in court with him today.
And I guess they dated before Katy Perry,
and then they rekindled the relationship after.
So yeah, but like you said,
obviously these women came forward very brave,
and the jury believed them.
All right. Well, thank you so much. We appreciate all of your insight.
Of course, TMZ always with the juice, the real juice, the scoop.
Devin Rull, thank you so much. We appreciate your time.
