AI GeneratedMeteorologist Claire Anderson warns of increasing rain and wind for the Puget Sound region starting Friday. While temperatures will remain above seasonal averages, wind advisories are expected for the coast and north interior on Friday, with another strong system bringing gusts up to 50 mph from Saturday evening into Sunday. Saturday is highlighted as the best day for outdoor activities.
Good Thursday evening, everyone.
I'm meteorologist Claire Anderson in the Fox 13 Weather Center.
Enjoy the calmer day we've had today because things start
to pick up heading into Friday as well as for part of the weekend.
So rain and wind increase tonight into our Friday,
bringing scattered showers and some potential gusty conditions,
especially along the coast.
We've got a wind advisory in effect for the coast as well
as the north interior for our Friday and then heading
Saturday evening into Sunday,
stronger winds and rain returning, which could
also create a wind advisory for parts of the rest of the Puget Sound.
Now, high temperatures today were really mild.
Looking ahead and for the next several days,
we're going to be actually above average,
so we won't be dealing with cool temperatures.
But just the wind and the rain.
So highs today in the upper 50s,
which we're actually usually around 54 degrees this time of year.
So several degrees above seasonal average.
And looking forward, we actually get warmer.
Saturday will be a pretty nice day.
Mainly dry conditions.
Highs in the low 60s.
So if you're looking for a day to get out
and about, Saturday is the day.
Sunday, it'll be wet to start the day and windy.
Mid 50s, though, continuing to Monday.
Then we get back to low 60s by Wednesday.
Now, let's take a look at the Doppler radar.
Looking ahead, we've got a series
of systems here moving in the Pacific Northwest.
Pretty typical for November.
Our first frontal system will return into late tonight, early tomorrow.
Already starting to see a few showers out along the coast.
Today has been mostly cloudy, a sprinkle here and there.
Nothing too gusty yet.
By late tonight, showers start to increase out along the coast.
A wet start even by 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Showers will return.
Scattered showers throughout the day Friday.
Now, we do see some pockets of heavier rain
by lunchtime out towards the beaches
through the afternoon time into the south sound Seattle,
north interior, north Cascades.
Snow levels actually raise up a bit,
so no major impacts to the Cascades
or even high-level snow.
It'll be really high.
Into Friday evening, we actually get a little bit of dry time.
It'll still be gusty, though.
Into Friday evening into Saturday. This is our dry time.
Saturday morning, a nice start to the day.
Mostly dry shower chances west out towards the coast
and then throughout the day.
Saturday showers increasing out along the coast.
This is the stronger system. Eight o'clock Saturday night.
Pretty stormy, and that continues into Saturday evening.
A few early showers Sunday morning,
but we actually start to see drier conditions into the afternoon.
Wind-wise, it's going to be gusty,
especially for our Friday, even late tonight.
Friday morning, we start to see winds picking up.
Even the rest of the Puget Sound will be gusty at times.
We see those winds really peaking,
and then I want to show you heading into Saturday.
Notice by Saturday evening into Sunday,
we can see wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
Looking at the wind advisory starting
Friday morning through Friday afternoon,
the coast and north interior temperatures will
be mild as well with quite a bit of rain,
not as much rain for Friday night, but temperatures we'll see
in the 60s by Saturday, cooler by Sunday.
