I'm from New Jersey and I know by default
when I go to other states and I say words like water
and bagel, I'll probably raise a few eyebrows.
But we wanted to find out how do you stack up to
Google's correct pronunciations. Word number one.
This is the number one most mispronounced word
in the state. Data. Data.
Data. Data. Is it data?
Data. Oh, it's data. Okay.
OK.
I'm guilty of that one.
I'm in the restaurant business.
So this is the way it's said in the business that I'm in.
Gyro.
Gyro.
But I know I've heard gyro.
I pronounce this gyro, but I know it's pronounced hero.
Oh, it's gyro.
Wow.
Okay, gyro.
Gyro.
What do you think?
Acai.
Okay, I know this one.
Acai.
Acai.
Yeah, I would say acai too.
Worcestershire.
I'm from Boston.
Worcestershire.
It's like Worcestershire sauce, right?
Like Warshire.
It's Worcestershire, Worcestershire,
Worcestershire, Worcestershire sauce.
See, I never would have known that.
And by the way, just for the record,
the number one most mispronounced word in Delaware and
Pennsylvania is water, or as Google says, water.
We're in Asbury Park.
I'm Jim Murdoch, News 12, New Jersey.
