Welcome back at 1015 this morning and perhaps you saw a bunch
of Dolly Parton lookalikes running around DC over the weekend.
Well, if you did, you weren't just seeing things. Not at all.
The district showed major love to the late icon with a,
let's not move in here, with a lookalike contest.
We can check out the event that encouraged competitors
to bring big hair, big glam and big Dolly energy.
And here we are with the winner of one of the people
who made the event with one of the people
who made the event possible. Thanks
so much for joining us here. We've got Dolly lookalike
champion here, Rachel Hall. Yes. Good morning.
And then owner of Georgetown's 310 Kitchen and Bar,
Jen Cravato joins us as well.
So Jen, was this all your idea? Tell us about it.
Yes. Actually, my daughter, I called my daughter and I was like,
what are you doing for Halloween?
And she said, my best friend and I are going as Jolene
and Dolly Parton. I said, oh my
Gosh, that's so great.
I have to do something Dolly Parton now.
I thought, let's do a lookalike contest on Halloween.
That would be so much fun.
I love that.
How many people showed up?
Well, we had a lot more spectators than we had participants.
Yes, it is.
But yeah, we had 75 people RSVP.
We only had about five Dolly competitors, but that was fine.
That was great.
And it was just a lot of fun.
So Rachel, you brought out all the sparkle for in true Dolly fashion.
Absolutely, darling.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
So tell me, you know, dressing up for Halloween,
that's something that a lot of people love to get into.
When the idea for Dolly came up, was that something you said,
you know what, this might be fun?
Or did you want to do something else
that's going to help change your mind?
What made you want to basically enter the competition?
Well, Halloween traditionally in my family has been really big.
So when my kids were younger, we celebrated,
just went all out for Halloween, even had a...
A dry ice candy dish with smoking candy
that the trick-or-treaters could get candy out of.
But it was always something that was very important
and special in my family.
So I decided to just do Dolly before I saw the advertisement.
And so it just actually aligned perfectly.
And believe it or not, I already had the jacket.
I already had the cowboy hat.
Yeah.
It kind of makes sense.
Exactly.
It just made perfect sense, y'all.
I was wondering, I was wondering what.
What you did have, what you didn't have,
and what went into putting together, of course,
Dolly's quintessential look.
Yeah, so for me, I feel that Dolly exceeds color boundaries.
I feel that anyone that loves fashion and makeup
and just being glamorous could be Dolly.
So when I saw the competition, I said, why the heck not?
So like I said, I already had the cowboy hat.
I already had the jacket.
The jeans, so what I spent,
A little bit of money on was just trying to get a little puffy,
the puffiness and the wig.
And then, of course, the accessories, the pink accessories.
Right, because Dolly's got to have the big hair.
Hair is very important for Dolly.
Absolutely.
The rhinestones, it was all perfect.
Jen, when it came to voting,
who all was able to weigh in on this to decide who's going to win?
Well, I just had sort of the audience.
I kind of got the audience feedback.
And we did a couple questions with everybody.
What's your favorite song?
You know, favorite quote.
different things like that and then why should you be the next Dolly
so we did that but again
it was just kind of fun and friendly competition
um and everybody was out for Halloween so it was
it was like a whole Dolly Parton, it was good energy
which is totally Dolly, right? Do you know
who else is a really good Dolly
I was Dolly Parton two years ago for our Halloween costume show.
Oh, I can see that.
It's a clean show.
Two years ago.
I actually love doing this so much
that I'm actually going to do impersonations.
Oh, my gosh.
Yes, including Dolly.
And I was thinking Beyonce because, of course, she's glamorous.
So I'm hoping to get a little bit of support for that with my...
Well, now you set us up.
Give us an impersonation.
Oh, my gosh.
I feel like we need someone.
Well, y'all, I just thought that this was...
Well, first of all, I got to apologize because when I was in town,
I saw the Commanders game
yesterday, and I was so excited about being there that I was screaming
and screaming when
I won.
And my voice is hoarse, so excuse me a little bit
for my voice being a little bit hoarse, y'all.
But I just love being Dolly.
I feel that I'm sexy, and I feel that I'm glamorous.
And, yeah, I'm ready for the next adventure.
I love it.
You definitely got the energy.
Absolutely.
So I started Dolls and Vibes on TikTok.
So there is a booking site
that you can come check me out and reserve me.
Perfect.
Sounds fun. I love that. And Jen,
tell us real quick here a little bit about your restaurant.
I know you have the competition, but what kind
of food can people experience if they come on in?
Yes. American Mediterranean, breakfast, lunch,
dinner, brunch on the weekends. And then we
continue to just have fun in different events.
Our next one is Taylor Swift, um, patient zero
fun. Yes. We're having a fun, just kind of a dance party.
Oh my goodness. I feel like I just
need to come because between Dolly,
between Taylor Swift, you had that one matcha latte
that comes out to your
Your table, I mean, my goodness,
you've got all sorts of fun activities over there.
All the good things, and then...
Thanksgiving side's coming up for,
I can't believe it's November 1st already,
but constant things going on and happenings at 1310.
We just kind of keep it fun, you know, restaurant business stuff,
and I just want to keep things fun.
Well, it sounds like you're succeeding at that.
Again, when anybody has the opportunity
to come dress up as Dolly, vote on Dolly,
or Taylor Swift, Jacqueline,
we already need to get you dressed up for that one.
I know that's a big hit for you as well.
I guess I just need to continue to go down the line.
I did Dolly, now I've got to do Taylor.
There's all females on the walls,
all female musicians, so yeah, a lot of female energy
happening.
That sounds right on my alley.
Very fun.
Well, thank you ladies for bringing
the Dolly Parton competition here and having our very
own Dolly in studio.
Thank you so much.
It was a popular costume this year.
I saw so many little, when I was out trick-or-treating
with some family and friends, some little
girls as Dolly, I mean all the way up
to the older folks as well, so great job on your
costume.
Thank you so much.
All right, thanks for being in here.
We're off to a dry start.
