3 arrested after reckless motorcycle takeover in Beverly Hills

Three people arrested in Beverly Hills for this. Reckless driving and dangerous motorcycle stunts. Fox 11's Laura Diaz live now in Beverly Hills with how police tracked the suspects down. Laura. Yes, Glenn and Christine, we are here in Beverly Hills, one of the most fabled streets in this glamorous town. But I can tell you this right now, the police chief talking to us a short time ago about the dangerous driving that he says was taking place on the streets here. Motorcycles, young people trying to get people to follow them on social media. But he describes it in very, very serious terms. Now, if you look over to the left, you can see all the cameras that are off to the side there. There are cameras All over Beverly Hills, they also used drones and so they said the arrests of these suspects was a combination of good old-fashioned police work and high-tech machinery. It was a simple radio call. Someone was out, saw this behavior, alerted us to it, our real-time watch center. Went into action, vectored units, directed units in to where they were. And that's how we were able to make the arrest. Racing down the street, doing wheelies, disobeying the law, disobeying the rules of the road is definitely dangerous themselves and dangerous to the community. Beverly Hills is a very heavily trafficked area. It was a beautiful day out there. So them going out there and doing that stuff is really dangerous. Well check out this video that was given to us by the police department you look at it closely it shows the group of bikers throwing up wheelies driving on the wrong side of the road and then running stop signs this according of course to the police department it may make for a lot of clicks on social media But it landed these seven in trouble. There are many cameras and drones in Beverly Hills. The suspects were located and arrested. There was one minor in the group, but most were adults, and they are going to face charges of reckless driving sometime mid-December. So the allegations against them are quite serious and according to the people that we talked to tonight, of course speaking specifically to the chief of police here, he says that they take this all very seriously. It's a small area when you think about Beverly Hills, people walk, they shop, they are often on the streets here. So he sees this as a really important event that has to take place. They have to make the streets safe. I'm Laura Diaz, reporting live from Beverly Hills, sending it back to the studio. Laura, you make an interesting note about, is it for their social media or just trying to pull off a stunt? But just looking at that video, though, you saw pedestrians there walking very close to them. And I think I saw them even go through a red light. Yes, all of those things took place according to the chief and he says that some of them we believe maybe even all of them were from outside of the country. They were staying at a VRBO. So there is some indication that maybe they came here because the streets are so famous. And if you're going to post something on social media, it always helps if you're at a location that people want to click on. But in this case, you know, they landed in quite a bit of trouble. Alright, Laura Diaz live in Beverly Hills.
