All of this the worst possible outcome
for President Donald Trump, who is already tonight
complaining about the coverage,
complaining about the Republican candidates and vowing
to be Mr. Veto with both chambers now controlled by Democrats,
in fact, just a little while
ago.
Let me get to that really quickly.
He spoke with Fox News.
Take a listen at his first reaction.
So that's what I complain about.
But it's not gonna matter because the end result is
what you saw tonight on television.
But I think it's hard to believe that anybody could lose
that race to somebody from the administration.
But you're gonna accept all these races,
Is this right?
Yeah, sure.
I'll accept it.
Why wouldn't I?
Well, why? That was a big question.
Yeah, it's really interesting to hear him say that.
Why wouldn't he? Because he hasn't
accepted so many races in the past
and before the election even took place. He was already
casting doubt about the veracity of all the ballots cast
and sending out the DOJ and members
of his administration to monitor the election.
So it's very good to hear the president say that tonight.
Maybe we can move on. He has
To try to work this time with Democrats.
Why do I feel like we need to wait and see?
Exactly.
See if there are any legal challenges.
You worked in Washington,
you worked in the White House covering politics.
What do you make of this blue wave that we're seeing?
This was expected somewhat from Democrats, right?
Tonight we knew something was coming, but no one expected this.
They're calling it a blue wave.
For a reason, there are so many memes out there tonight.
I think the president himself knew that it
was gonna be some sort of pounding.
He said as much just the other day
when he was at the reflecting pool in front of the
Washington Monument.
He said even the greatest president has losses in the midterm.
But remember, this time President Trump made it all about him again.
He said, imagine that I'm on the ballot,
so how much more could it possibly have been
linked to him?
These losses are far greater than he saw back
in 2018 during the midterms.
Back then, he just lost the House, he actually gained in the Senate.
But back then, his approval rating was 45,
tonight it's sitting at 38, and it's very
possible it could go lower as the days move on.
