Very disturbing, but walk us through what you know.
Yeah, very serious allegations here made by the family.
They believe Nicole's death is being covered up
because of her husband's connections with
the Gary Police Department.
They didn't know where to turn,
so they contacted Fox Chicago for help bringing attention to
this case.
According to her family, 47-year-old Nicole Mabon Brewer
was found shot to death inside her Gary home on September 3rd, 2025.
More than a year later, no one has been charged.
Tonight, her family says Nicole made disturbing warnings about
her husband years before her death.
My mom came to them and said that Ron said he would kill her,
cover it up and make it
seem like she did it herself
and he would get away with it because of his connections.
And then she later confirmed it with me.
Nicole's daughter believes her mother
may have been a victim of foul play
and suspects her husband Ron Brewer was involved.
She says she witnessed his temper firsthand. Ron has a temper.
I've witnessed it a lot since I was younger.
He's been in my life since I was pretty much a toddler.
Family says the couple had been together for more than 20 years,
but their marriage was falling apart.
According to her family, Nicole was planning
on leaving the marriage just a week before her death.
Nicole's daughter believes she knew something that Ron was hiding.
There were some things that my mom found out.
The former Gary City Councilman lost his seat in May,
but is now seeking an appointment to fill a vacant council position.
It's not the first time Brewer has faced criminal allegations.
In 2019, he pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping,
confining and intimidating a 14 year old boy he believed
was involved in stealing his car.
Police allege Brewer tracked down the vehicle,
fired a gun at the teenagers inside,
and took the 14-year-old to Gary against his will.
Court records show those charges were later dropped
after Brewer completed a six-month diversion program.
People should take heed to who they're electing because you don't know
who these people really are behind closed doors.
Fox Chicago also spoke to Nicole's father,
who confirms those allegations.
She said, if anything happened to me, Ron did it.
And I said, Ron knows better than to do something to you.
She said, you keep making accusations about I can kill you
and I can get away with it.
No criminal charges have been filed against Brewer
in connection with Nicole's death.
Her death remains classified as undetermined.
My message to Ron is that God sees all
and he's going to get you for what you did, honestly.
God sees it all.
My mother didn't deserve this.
Indiana State Police was investigating.
They tell us their investigation was completed and was submitted to a
special prosecutor assigned to the case and they are now reviewing it.
We did reach out to Brewer several times and to Gary Council,
but we never heard back from them on this.
Leslie, there is so much here. Did Gary Police?
Well, again, family says Brewer has connections
with the Gary Police Department, so they never
really felt safe or even comfortable going there.
We did email and call Gary Police Department several times,
but we have not heard back.
Again, the family didn't really know where to go,
where to turn, so they contacted Fox
Chicago and they're now urging
if anyone out there has any information, they wanna hear
from them.
Okay. All right. We'll look for updates.
Hopefully some of those calls that you made
will come back around. Sounds like tomorrow
is a big day in this story as well. Thank you, Leslie.
