SWAT situation reported in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood

All right. We're following breaking news in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood. We've been watching this for a bit now. Let's go to Casey Cronus. She went straight out there when she got in today. Casey, what have you learned so far? Hey, that's right, Terrence. I'll give you a live look at the scene here. This is an active SWAT situation. We are posted up at Laramie and Kinsey. This is on the city's west side in the Austin neighborhood. You can see we are pretty far back from the actual scene. It is on a residential street. Reports indicate that there were about four suspects who were being pursued by police in a vehicle. They jumped out of that car. That car is actually still in a nearby alley here. And a Apparently, a couple of the suspects were arrested, but we are hearing that two others have posted up inside a home on a residential street in the area. This has prompted a massive police and SWAT response here. Again, we are still pushed pretty far back as we continue to monitor this situation. It does seem like things are fairly calm right now where we are, but again, we are still several blocks away from the actual scene. Now, there are some schools in the area, and apparently they have early dismissal today at 1.30. So there are a lot of police on the ground that will be monitoring the area as that happens. Again, still a very active situation. Exactly what led up to this is still unconfirmed, still unclear. We're waiting for more word from police, but again, we do know active SWAT situation. We just saw some SWAT officers. Gearing up in their green tactical uniforms, there is a suspect vehicle in a nearby alley, and there are at least two suspects posted up, holed up in a nearby home. Terrence. All right, Casey, thank you for updating us. And I'm sure Jake will be checking in with you as well on Chicago Live. Appreciate that report.
