Google is cutting off access to its search engine for schools
that do not use its artificial intelligence tools.
This comes after teachers criticized Google for activating
its AI chatbot Gemini on its education apps for K-12 students.
The tech company says this will no longer be the default option,
but the schools that opt out of the AI tools will
also lose access to Google Search.
The change is set to take effect early next year.
Educators and policymakers blasted the move,
accusing Google of trying to strong-arm schools into adopting AI.
