AI GeneratedThis video features a discussion on the use of AI-generated political advertisements. The participants express general resistance to the technology, citing concerns over deception, the rise of \"dirty\" campaign tactics, and the potential for less tech-savvy voters to be misled. While some believe disclosures are critical, others argue they are ineffective if viewers ignore the end of the ad.
Have you seen any of the political ads that are AI generated?
I'm not sure that I have.
I'm not sure that I would distinguish them from non-AI.
So maybe. Okay, they could be real. So
sometimes at the end they say it's generated by AI.
But overall, what's your thoughts on
campaigns using these concepts?
I don't think I've ever thought about it.
I don't know about it, but...
My instinct is to be a little resistant to it,
I'd prefer to hear from the candidates themselves
or whoever's supporting whatever proposition or what have you.
I suppose it wouldn't be much
different than someone creating a cartoon
but at least that's driven by somebody else's creative
Input rather than having some AI generated content.
It's not something I've really thought about but again my immediate
Instinct is to be somewhat resistant to that and and why
is that like would would any of it kind of sway you on?
The candidates like depending on what what they say in that material
I don't know that it would sway me on a candidate
or whatever platform they're
I'm not proposing or defending,
but it might lead me to look into the issue, maybe.
Maybe it would trigger a curiosity
or an intrigue that I might further investigate, possibly.
And does it matter that it's labeled
as a disclosure that it's AI generated?
Absolutely. Yeah, I believe so.
I think as AI continues to get stronger,
then our ability to be deceived will only increase with it.
So I think it's only fair that we know
the truth behind what we're being presented with.
So yeah, I think the disclaimer is pretty...
Critical.
What's your thoughts on AI generated political ads?
So it's so funny you're asking me this.
I just saw one the other day and I thought it was a really bad idea.
It was so convincing.
Um, I could see people who aren't maybe as technology savvy could
be really duped by something like that and think
that this one certain politician was doing something is, oh,
they have them on film doing this. And it was, it was so convincing.
I thought it was a dangerous territory.
So it didn't sway you?
It didn't sway me. No, I, um, I have my mind made up about
the candidate already, but I just was like, this is kind of a...
A new territory that I did not like, a new level of attack.
I don't like dirty ads to begin with.
I'd rather hear what the people are going
to do versus what the other one does wrong.
Right.
But I just thought it was just one
more dirty tactic that I didn't like.
Right, right.
And what about the fact that some of them have
the disclosure at the end saying,
Oh, this AI generated.
Does that make it more acceptable?
I don't know, because I honestly didn't see
that after this AI generated.
I didn't know they had that.
I don't know if that's a requirement.
I don't know what the laws are on that for the precedents being set
for AI generated political ads.
But I don't think that would make a difference,
because I barely pay attention at the end of the ads.
I feel like I'm like most Americans.
Maybe I'm not paying too much attention, as I should.
