Yeah, incumbent winner, Democrat Debbie Dingell,
joining us live on Zoom this morning,
talking about that massive win
for Michigan's sixth congressional district.
Congresswoman Dingell, I mean, a massive win, as I just mentioned.
How are we feeling about all this?
Well, first of all, to be blunt,
I'm very tired because I haven't been to bed.
But I think it's a message from the people
that we represent that they didn't like the
direction that our country was going.
And I am pleased that people have been elected
that are willing to work with us to help deliver
Thank you very much.
To the constituents that we're gonna be representing.
I also think it's very important Democrats
not over read into this because we gotta do
our job and deliver,
but they're gonna send the same kind of sounding message they sent
two years ago to us with the Republicans
and the Republicans didn't deliver, didn't deliver.
And we have a presidential election in two years,
we gotta roll up our sleeves and get
Congresswoman Dingell, let me ask you just
because when you were out talking to people
here over this last year and leading up to this election,
what did you hear about most?
What did people talk to you about most?
Is it the economy?
Is it the price of things?
What were you hearing from voters?
But I mean, the number one thing on everybody's mind,
working families, is how much groceries
we're costing.
Some people were afraid they couldn't pay
their rent, let alone buy a house.
The cost of gasoline have become a real issue to people.
And then the issue that I heard in Kroger Sunday morning,
two women had a long talk
with me about the letter they received.
But the federal government on their Medicaid,
and they didn't know if they were gonna have
health insurance and they didn't know how to sort through it all.
And they didn't know if their child got sick,
they were gonna be able to take them to the
doctor or afford their medicine.
Those are the kinds of things that worry me greatly too.
Yeah, a lot of important issues for Michiganders,
but across the nation, we talk about that
blue wave and the pressure, as you mentioned,
to really deliver, not just here in Michigan,
but across the nation too.
I mean, what are you,
what's your outlook going off the president still in office, talks
of possible veto, all the things and challenges ahead?
It's going to be a very interesting time.
I think the first interesting,
Thank you very much.
I'm not the word, I can't think of the word to use,
is what's going to happen in the lame duck
session. We have to get a budget bill passed by December 11th
because the current one expires then.
Will they try to do a reconciliation bill?
The first issue that is in parliamentary order was
Offered by a Republican to impeach Pete Hegseth.
So it's going to be very interesting to see what happens.
But then we come in in January,
and we need to be organized, have a 100-hour agenda and
a 100-day agenda.
And in that first 100-hour agenda,
I've been working with the House, but I know that the
Senate will agree with us on this,
that one of the first things that we are going to do
is to reverse the cuts in Medicaid,
reverse the cuts in food to help make sure we don't
children and seniors and to address the health care issue,
reinstate the affordable care tax
credit until we can figure out what we really need
to do to fix a broken health care system.
Congresswoman Dingell, we can't thank you enough
for spending some time with us today. Hopefully,
maybe a little nap this morning, maybe a little breakfast.
That's where I'm going.
All right. Congratulations to you
and great seeing you as always. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
