Talarico Takes Texas: 'Message to Every Billionaire Megadonor' | Midterms 2026 | Us Senate | N18g

James Talarico won a key Senate race in Texas, in what is likely the single biggest upset for Republicans in this year's elections.
Talarico's stunning victory over Republican Ken Paxton marks the first time a Democrat has won a US Senate seat in Texas since 1988 - and has helped solidify Democrats taking full control of the US Congress in a tidal wave of wins across the US.
In his victory speech, Talarico credited the power of the people in defeating Elon Musk's money power. "In this race, we went up against our own Goliaths. The richest man in the world, the most powerful man in the world, and the entire Washington DC establishment. David wasn't as big or as strong as Goliath, he didn't have as many weapons, but he had hope, he had faith, and he had a slingshot. The people of Texas were my slingshot," he said.
