Boy, I'll tell you last night, man,
what a statement was made last night by the Chicago
Bears.
One of the most difficult places to play is in Seattle,
and they went in there, and they
just took the whooping stick out,
and they beat that Seahawks team up, and Jeffrey Simmons
was just an absolute force last night.
That football team right now looks like the very best team in the NFC.
And if they can keep getting better and better,
and Caleb can keep getting better and better,
this football team is going to be a force, like I said, in the NFC.
You're going to be looking at a team that could potentially,
in the year that Mike Ditka died,
go to the Super Bowl and maybe win it.
Caleb knows the Bears are a force.
That's who we want to be known as when we come in,
that we're also a force to be reckoned with.
I mean, they just won a Super Bowl last year.
They got a bunch of guys back.
That's a worthy opponent on all sides of ball offense,
defense, special teams.
They got all pro guys.
They got, you know, a bunch of talent over there.
They got the scheme.
And so we knew it was going to be a challenge.
We knew it was going to be a dogfight.
We knew that our identity, you know, had to show up for us.
And, you know, I think it did today.
No question about it here, man.
Think about this.
A year ago, you're talking about a quarterback
that had a completion percentage of 55%.
He's now up near 70.
And you're talking about a guy who's getting better and better.
And there's only one reason.
I think the guy, Ben Johnson, has just done
a remarkable job in changing the culture there in Chicago.
And when you can take your football team and go to Seattle
and win like that, that's a special win, man.
I thought these guys did a great job.
We talked all week about what type of game we thought this would be.
A tremendous amount of respect for that opponent.
I think that's a really good football team that we just played.
That defense was number one in a lot of categories.
That special teams unit is top five.
They were number one a year ago.
I think they're number two right now this year.
I mean, I think, you know, and their offense can score in bunches also.
You know, they got a lot of dynamic weapons on that side of the ball.
And so to see us go out there and play a physical brand of football,
we thought that was going to be important for us.
That showed up in that first drive.
I thought our guys...
Came out with their hair on fire,
and I thought it carried over for 60 minutes.
There were some ebbs and some flows throughout that game,
and yet it felt like we responded really well as a team
and rallied together.
So that was exciting to see.
You know, these guys earned this victory,
and I couldn't be more proud of them.
Take a look at what a victory like that does to your odds.
on winning the Super Bowl.
I mean you go into a place like that and all of a sudden now you're
right there with the 49ers
and the Bills as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
That's incredible.
And a move like Jeffrey Simmons,
constantly getting better and also getting a guy like
Caleb Williams, there is no doubt
that your football team right now is playing great ball.
Will they be able to keep it up?
We'll be the big one now.
All right, on the other side, hey, look,
I don't know if this guy was talking about
hopscotch or if he was talking about horseshoes here,
but Mike McDonald, the head football
coach of the Seahawks, said they won fair and square.
Hey, thanks, coach.
I think it's a tip of the cap to the Bears.
They won the game.
They won it fair and square.
They won it in all three phases.
And we got beat.
Fair and square?
Is that like darts?
No.
No other way to sugarcoat it.
I think when you look at the things that it takes
to win a league, we didn't do those
things, and they did.
They kicked your ass.
That was an absolute ass-kicking last night.
That's what we intend to do, get back
to work and attack the heck out of it.
So we've got a short week.
This is the first of, I think, four or five throughout the season.
It's really important to really get our bodies back
and get our minds ready to go on Wednesday.
So, again, credit to the Bears.
You know, look at all the stats, things that happened,
in terms of playing complimentary football.
We can rattle them off if you want,
but they made it happen and we didn't.
So it's a team effort.
We lost as a team.
I think in all three phases we're going to have better plans.
We can coach it better.
We can prepare our players better, and we can play better.
So we'll go back to work and go attack the heck out of it.
Margin, margin.
Margins in our league is too small.
When you don't do the things that it takes to win,
that's how a game like that shapes up.
Coach, you got your butt kicked.
Tried jumping in on you a couple times there,
but hey, dude, got your butts kicked last night.
Up and down the football field.
Sam Darnold, is he seeing ghosts again?
Gosh, it was just offensively.
Couldn't really, felt like we couldn't get anything going.
We had a couple good drives.
I feel like early on, third down where Jax was there,
but I should have got it to him early.
So,
So, yeah, you know, again, credit to those guys.
They had a good plan, and they executed at a high level.
But, again, there's a lot of things that we can do better
and need to do better moving forward.
What's number one on your list of that?
I mean, we've got to look at the tape again.
You know, I always think it starts with second down efficiency.
You know, obviously, third down, Red Zone.
Red zone, definitely needs to be better.
But, yeah, if we can just continue
to be even more efficient on first and second down,
you know, all those other things
that I always feel like fall into line.
