Stream of people wanting to vote all throughout the day.
More than 1.5 million early ballots have already been returned.
That is roughly half of the total expected turnout.
Fox 10's Andrew Christensen is live near a polling place at ASU.
That is one of 254 that are open across Maricopa County.
Yeah. Oh my gosh, guys. In the past few hours,
the line has just doubled. It was wrapped around
halfway through the front of the gym.
Now it is wrapped around the entire gym. So that just gives
you kind of a picture as to how many more people
are coming over here. There are a lot of groups
here, Democratic groups, there's Republican groups.
There are actually groups here that
are trying to motivate people to vote with pizza,
with snacks, with water. So a lot of action going
on here at Arizona State University's Tempe campus.
Well, the Maricopa County Elections
Department website says the wait here is an hour six.
60 minutes and 253 people are in line,
but people I talked to recently say they're waiting
about an hour, so the wait times are pretty accurate.
Students tell me voting here instead of other places,
it just comes down to convenience,
even if they have to wait.
When I ask them what is really motivating them to vote,
some students tell me it's things
like affordability, education, and the Iran war,
and I actually talked to someone who
voted for Green Party candidate Risa Lombardo
because he doesn't feel like the two parties
Parties are doing well enough in office.
I just don't know if Katie Hobbs' agenda
when she's been in governor has quite been progressive enough for me.
I think she's just kind of had more moderate sort
of status quo type policy.
Chandler Gilbert Community College has a wait time of 43 minutes.
Mesa Community College has a wait time
of 66 minutes with 186 people in line.
And the Maricopa County Elections Department says
that about 188,000 people have been serviced at voting centers.
They also say there are more than 250 voting sites.
Of course, the polls close at 7,
but if you are waiting in line before 7, you can still vote.
Reporting live at Arizona State University,
Andrew Christensen, Fox 10 News.
