Futuristic experimental supersonic X-59 jet spotted flying over Texas

I wasn't nervous about the airplane itself, you know, all the testing you had gone through, the people that had built it, and all the tweaks that we had to do, you know, over those years, that when we went through the testing, it really gave you the confidence. I wasn't losing any sleep the night before, because I knew we had a good airplane, and I knew we had a great plane. The nose came up and needed to come up some more because now it's getting too fast, so I had to bring the nose up even more. I think the controller even gave me a shout out and said, check speed, and then got the airspeed to come back down again. I remember thinking, this thing's a rocket ship, and we were at 12,000 feet like that. Very stable. Control copies, standing by for flutter on 11, 12, and 14. So a lot of people have asked me how does the airplane compare to the sim and I think even during the flight I think I even said flies a lot like the sim but just what you want the first flight you know exciting but uneventful. Pulling off the runway I think was probably had a minute to pause and realize it kind of almost like it's over. I'm really excited to see when we finally get to the design point, get some microphones out there and actually record the thump. We know Lockheed can build an airplane and, you know, make it fly. Can we build that airplane, make it fly, and turn that sonic boom into a thump? That'll be a really cool day.
