Well, some residents at a Fairfield properties complex in Farmingville
were not allowed to come in and out of their apartments for 10 hours,
and many say management did a poor job handling the situation.
News 12's Daniela Rodriguez tells us why.
No one was allowed in or out
of their apartments for nearly 10 hours Monday
as police vehicles and SWAT trucks swarmed
this apartment at Fairfield Hills North at Farmingville.
I noticed there was a police ambulette and he was going very fast,
no lights on, headed towards the north side.
I don't know what could have been happening.
Suffolk police say they responded
to a 911 call at around 7.15 in the morning,
which turned into a barricaded situation, though no one was hurt.
One mom says it's not the first time she's had a baby.
first time she's seen a heavy police presence like this,
but it's the communication between
tenants and property management that she finds most concerning.
Today we got an email about e-bikes,
but we're not being told about these things.
Jacqueline Broadman says she's lived here with
her three young children for just under a year,
but several incidents in recent months have left
her feeling uneasy.
A literal shooting, like right here, we heard the gunshots.
A couple weeks later
Our car was stolen here.
Just boom, gone.
Someone's window was broken into.
Broadman says she's reached out
to property management, but never hears back.
Another resident says she too struggles with management communication.
We don't even have really a steady leasing agent,
so there's no one to go to in the office.
The office is always locked.
It is a concern of mine and other residents.
News 12 reached out to Fairfield Properties for comment.
We did not hear back.
I just hope Fairfield reaches out to us
and lets us know about these things.
That's really it. That's all we can ask for.
In Farmingville, Suffolk County, Daniela Rodriguez, News 12.
And police just confirmed the man left his apartment peacefully.
No arrests were made.
